    I thought this was going to be the nav app for me. I like the privacy policy and at first it worked fine. Then I noticed that it could not find several places including 2 restaurants, a clothing store, and a pharmacy all of which have been there for many years. I was searching by the name of the establishment. Not acceptable. Interestingly, the free version of Sygic was able to find all those places but that version doesn't have voice directions which is a bummer. So, I broke down and paid for a 1 year subscription for Sygic ($19). Lots of cool features. So far, I'm very pleased with it.

    Hello... I have to download every state I'm passing through? Maybe a stupid question. I don't have enough space if that's the case. I only have the phones memory storage. So, if this is the case, that means magicearth is not an option for me, correct?

      Correct, you would have to download every state you intend on traveling through for Magic Earth to navigate you through them. If the space isn't available on the phone, you can't use it. Your options at that point are to use an online-only map app, or use a compass app as a "pointer" like GPS Test play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest There are no maps in that app at all, but it is very small. You input the coordinates of your destination that you get from here www.gps-coordinates.net into GPS Test, and then the app will show an arrow of where to go and the distance remaining until you get there. You figure out the roads to take yourself.

      @@sat103 I've had no luck with Google maps OFFLINE. I e had no problem navigating in my own borough, but when I go to different state, it then says can't connect.. it's like how could it work here, but not in another state.. I don't have unlimited data. I don't use a phone much. It would cost me 30 bucks to do that and money is tight. Got to figure something out...ugh

      The only money you should spend is for a microSD memory card if your phone supports one. The cheapest would be 32GB ($10 to $15 depending on where you get it) and that's more than enough space to fit USA, Canada and Mexico maps for Magic Earth.

    i just downloaded a few navigation apps trying to find a good one, the 2 that used open source maps couldnt find any address i tried typing in, that was the killer for me. i always go to places via address info.

    How do i get this into landscape mode ?

      @sat103  2 роки тому +1

      Turn your phone or tablet sideways and Magic Earth rotates automatically. It will work and look like this when navigating imgur.com/a/OxLY4oB The only time this does not work is if you specifically have Auto-Rotate turned off on your phone or tablet.

    How do you check for updates for this app

    • @sat103
      @sat103  2 роки тому

      For the app itself, if it was installed from the Google Play store, whenever an update is released, you should be notified. For the map data, if your data or Wi-Fi is on when the app starts, it will check for new maps. Whenever there are new maps available, a red icon will appear at the bottom, and you can choose if you want to install the map update now or later.

      @@sat103 Awesome, thanks very much. I was searching everywhere for how to update it. But it sounds like it does it itself more or less. Cheers for that
