To keep the pressure up: If you throw someone oos you can do light into heavy into light. It does only 49 damage compared to the confirmed 60/65 but you can flow right into qi stance.
It's easy to test this stuff now (not saying he shouldn't do JJ next tho), you can set a bot to automatically block/parry anything that isn't guaranteed.
The dude I tested on consistently couldn't block unless he already had his guard in that direction. Also had 100% success in online matches. But I'm no freeze, so I'm waiting on that big boi vid.
Yeah I read that's the case. from what Ive seen bots can block it though due to the extra 66ms. Plus you gotta be careful you dont hit them with a zone before the parry due to that weird bug pushing them too far.
Not additional punish, just some tricks: You can feint to ub. heavy from the kick. Some people claim you cannot, but you can. However, the cancel input is very strict, you have to input it buffered, or Shaolin won't cancel it, but if you input it to early, the heavy won't even go off, so the timing is very strange. This has been posted on reddit not once, but if you didn't read it. There is an interesting tech, which is likely not intended, and a bug. If you do a lotus leap (top ub. heavy from "netural qi stamce", and the one after the kick), you can cancel that heavy, ang go back to qi instantly. Enter qi with a light, do the top heavy by holding the heavy button, cancel the attack, but keep holding the heavy button, don't let it go, and Shaolin will enter qi right after the cancel. You can use this to punish the parry and dodge attack attempts with crushing counter, or simple dodges with the undodgeable heavy.
Yup. I use the unblockable feint into kick a lot. Its really strong and I wonder if it's intended. If you get amazing at light superior block it's nutty. I'm not quite there yet so often I get hit with a light while doing the long-ish sequence.
I will say that I hVnt had as much success using the undodgable because it seems to take longer, but the kick after feint into chi will track dodges and comes out right away.
This needs to be a full feature, atm if you enter Qi Stance from a heavy you won't be able to do it, and side heavy from Qi couldn't either. Also the top unblockable from Qi takes so much time with its lengthy animation, I'd love to see the unblockable after the kick replaces it. And lastly the side dodge heavy needs to chain into Relentless or Qi, that move is awkward right now...
If you throw/parry an out of stamina opponent you can get top light, top heavy, top light then you can go into qi stance immediately afterwards by holding the second light. This can give you more damage/ more oos pressure
I love your videos, and I'm eagerly awaiting your Nuxia max punishes. Your Nuxia framecheck and trap video was immensely helpful, and it helped me get much better at her. The whiffed trap into light is especially useful.
Nice update for ya: the unblockable punish can be made safe. Throw backwards, top a TOP HEAVY (ONLY TOP), enter qi stance, change stance twice quickly and throw the unblockable. You'll get them exactly on the wake up and you'll even be able to execute them
Not really a max punish, but it’s something i tend to do since it’s safe, but on OOS GB throw, I go top heavy, into qi stance, into top light (from qi stance) For the stun, into a GB. This works like 80% of the time
Just tried the oos throw punish after the patch, now you need to do a back throw with your guard on left or right, then 2 lights into Qi top heavy, for 58 damage.
This character has some really weird movement glitches. I get that his character is hard to predict to watch what sides his attacks come from, but fighting him is really glitchy. However, it looks like a 'balanced' character overall. I'm not sure how he is on Console though, as he has an insane amount of really fast follow-up lights that cant be reacted to.
LongTimeAgo so far from what I’ve seen is he can be hell if he spams his lights but I like him since he has the stance and other attacks which I call playing him properly but my friends joke about him being “Light spam with techniques” than again that’s all the Wu-Lin in a nutshell
@@droppodgamer8076 exactly. The new fat guy is as fast as a kensei strangely enough. The biggest problem currently is that when 50+ ping players play those new light spammers it seems that the indicators only warn you or give you a parry possibility after its already hit...
If you can predict his lights, you can get some big damage on him, unless you play a character with bad light parry punishes. Sadly, since all of his lights are lightning fast, it can be very hard to get consistent predictions against him (kind of like all other light spam characters) and since he has so much going for him, I'd put him easily in the top 3, for Xbox (where I play) at the very least.
Throw is light heavy light. First attack always wiffs no matter the side thrown or attacked. OOS parry is light heavy light. But the first light should be her parry punish. It will always land, and guarantee the heavy and light for 66 damage.
The teleport kick can also be dodged the same way you dodge a jump attack But you need inhuman reactions I've dodged it on accident while dodging something else Shaolin then just teleports and whiffs the kick
When you get the heavy off of the deflect, are you able to get a guaranteed light if you switch direction (go side heavy to say top light?) timing might be strict but haven't tested too much
Not sure if you've tested his zone that much... but the whole thing has some wacky hit stun and speed. Makes it difficult to react to from neutral, and I believe it's confirmed if your opponent is unlocked. I'm not a hundred percent sure what the damage is, but thought it was just worth mentioning.
I'm pretty sure you can't count the unblockable heavy after the teleport kick IF you are sprinting, you tested it on a standing still opponent and he didn't stagger much. I was sprinting in breach, got Tele kicked and my hero couldn't recover after the kick even though I was locked on.
If you are running an then get hit by the kick and you get your guard up in time, it's possible to parry. But you need to have godlike reflexes to do so, pretty much you always need to be aware of the shaolin behind you. :)
Is there something I’m missing here? When I play shaolin I literally *never* land the first heavy after oos parry, it always whiffs. Nowadays I just go for the light-heavy-light
Pretty sure most of these punishes are no longer viable, especially the oos ones. I doubt they are going to change him again anytime soon, since they just recently nerfed his triple lights. Maybe another punish video for him is in order
Light / GB punish tip Take your heavy, delay 400ms light, and use that to flow to qi because it's unreactable because...wait someone already made a video on why
I don't know if it's just me, but Shaolin seems to have a completely different timing for deflecting top attacks than other characters. Like I can easily deflect top attacks on orochi, peacekeeper, glad, etc. but as soon as I use Shaolin, its like my timings are all off.
it's because you inout the heavy too early and cancel your deflect frames by going into a forward dash heavy. You need to wait until you confirm the deflect and then input the heavy. I will explain this in a video when I list some of the bugs and unlisted changes for this season.
im not sure if it's guaranteed but for the OOS punish on throw i had this landing on almost everyone i played against. a heavy into light then flow into qi-stance from the light to kick which could be followed up by that guaranteed light. i don't have someone to test with so if someone could tell me if that is guaranteed or not that would be really cool.
OOS throw her first attack always wiffs. No matter the direction of throw or her side of attack. So just do light heavy light for 49 damage. On OOS parry do the same light heavy light, but the first light should be her parry punish for 20, which will always hit and can chain into the heavy light for 66 damage.
His lights hit too hard, he doesn't need a heavy buff he needs a light nerf lol, he has the highest damage lights in the game along with shinobi. I'd rather be poked three times with a stick than slashed twice by a warden or and orochi. At most his side lights should be 12+3+3. Also chained heavies do 35 and his kick does 20 damage. He's definitely the strongest of all the Wu Lin.
Like. Subscribe. Show the love for this wonderful man. I'd been doing forward throw into heavy then light for 37 damage on oos punish. Freeze just have me a free 23-28 damage in less than 7 minutes.
Though I do like doing heavy into light, into chi stance, throw the top heavy unblockable but feint it while holding R2 to go back into chi stance and either kick or superior block their oos parry attempt.
So shaolin now has aramusha's wall punish? They took from him to give to this guy? #ubi better fix aramusha; give him back his top lights. Dont nerf shaolin
To keep the pressure up:
If you throw someone oos you can do light into heavy into light. It does only 49 damage compared to the confirmed 60/65 but you can flow right into qi stance.
if someone is oos u can go to chi stance even if he blocks ur light..
I'm up for JJ next, I'm still curious if his zone after slap parry punish is guaranteed as I've heard mixed things.
pirateFinn I think it depends on the opponents guard. If it is static they block it if they have the guard in the zone direction
It's easy to test this stuff now (not saying he shouldn't do JJ next tho), you can set a bot to automatically block/parry anything that isn't guaranteed.

It bothers me how different Shaolin's voice sounds in combat, in contrast to his executions and emotes.
Chris J Hol’ up. Now that you mention it 🤔
Not additional punish, just some tricks:

Shhh!!! Don't tell people all the good tricks!

The side heavy in qi stance doesn’t have any i frames, though it looks like it has dodge properties, it doesn’t

Top notch vid as always. Definitely added a few bits and bobs to my Shaolin arsenal.

Parries with his arm
While in the training arena, if you set the bot to always exhausted as well as set it to only parry, you can use it to figure out OOS punishes.
Just tried the oos throw punish after the patch, now you need to do a back throw with your guard on left or right, then 2 lights into Qi top heavy, for 58 damage.

Doom Desire Don’t forget his crazy large health pool
Doubt this will help anyone but if go for forward dodge heavy u can feint and go straight into side dodge attack
I gotta try this now instead of my usual GB after Feint. Thank you :)
Please do Nuxia next, her punishes work very randomly right now and I'm sure there's a more safe way.
Throw is light heavy light. First attack always wiffs no matter the side thrown or attacked.
OOS parry is light heavy light. But the first light should be her parry punish. It will always land, and guarantee the heavy and light for 66 damage.
Forgot to mention that revenge parry punish can always be gb
The teleport kick can also be dodged the same way you dodge a jump attack
But you need inhuman reactions
I've dodged it on accident while dodging something else
Shaolin then just teleports and whiffs the kick
If you do the unlockable while the enemy is on the floor without stamina, there's a chance he'd want to parry it. Free extra punish.
When you get the heavy off of the deflect, are you able to get a guaranteed light if you switch direction (go side heavy to say top light?) timing might be strict but haven't tested too much
I could be mistaken but I believe in revenge activation you can get
Top light>top heavy> top light
For 65 dmg
feel a little bit stupid about this, but what is buffered attacks?
freeze made a video about it so check it out
buffering an attack means inputting it before the previous one has finished.
Basically what most people do when they mash the input.
i find it best to qi stance into kick light after deflect asap. they just let it happen as if its guarunteed.

Mayonaka RAVEN if you have godlike reflexes you can also dodge the kick

Not exactly a punish but more of a followup to his OOS max punishes. If delayed enough his heavy into top UB heavy can execute.
For the out of stam you need to delay the unblockable to make it safe and take execution
you'd hit his wakeup hyperarmor, it wont be safe
Oos knocked down punishes
Tiandi: 49 damage with top heavy into light
JJ: 82 damage (I think) with heavy into unblock heavy
Pretty sure most of these punishes are no longer viable, especially the oos ones. I doubt they are going to change him again anytime soon, since they just recently nerfed his triple lights. Maybe another punish video for him is in order

Ok thank you. My solution was to just stop trying for top deflects. If its a bug I'm hoping they'll fix it soon because its been throwing me off.
Is the oos stamina punish still possible? I physically can not get it to go as fast as it is in the vid
it's 2 side lights into Qi into top unblockable now.
The patch last thursday messed it all up.
freeze❤️ ty❤️
Since the timings on aramusha's attacks have been messed up with a lot with marching fire, it'd be awesome if you updated his punishes as well ! :D
im not sure if it's guaranteed but for the OOS punish on throw i had this landing on almost everyone i played against. a heavy into light then flow into qi-stance from the light to kick which could be followed up by that guaranteed light. i don't have someone to test with so if someone could tell me if that is guaranteed or not that would be really cool.
When can we see tiandi punishes ?

I'll upload and schedule it for tomorrow.

Please do Nuxia everytime I do an OOS throw or parry I always miss the first attack no matter what, really want to know if she has any good punishes
OOS throw her first attack always wiffs. No matter the direction of throw or her side of attack. So just do light heavy light for 49 damage.
On OOS parry do the same light heavy light, but the first light should be her parry punish for 20, which will always hit and can chain into the heavy light for 66 damage.
