New Wall Splat Punish If you get a GB near a wall you can... • kick in any direction to the closest wall ( I found closest to the wall works best, and kicking forward is easiest) • Go immediately into Hidden Stance • Delay a Heavy ( Has to be in a guard the opponent was not in) • When the heavy hits, immediately go into the kick and follow with another heavy. -Total damage from side heavy (without bleed) 62 -Total damage from top heavy (without bleed) 73 -Total damage from top heavy (with bleed, does not include bleed dmg) 88 Note: The timing is a little tricky, and does vary depending on the distance thrown, but shouldn’t be too hard to get the hang of. If the attack is too early the opponent will be able to dodge the kick, if it is too late the heavy can be blocked (I have seen it dodged and parried as well, not as often though) If it is blocked you can still continue into the kick and follow with a heavy if the opponent wall splats. You can find the video of me doing the punish here… ua-cam.com/video/3R78bSdCIKs/v-deo.html
Hey, Jacket54 here! Wall of text incoming with corrections, notes and extra tips. - When you are doing the OOS throw cobra punish you always have to delay, otherwise the opponent will not fall. - Regarding parry punish without a wall, if the attack comes from the right, no matter if the opponent is bleeding or not, you need to do the double heavy as shown in the video, the cobra will whiff in this case. - HS's CGB ability allows nobushi to have one of the best option selects in the game that can shut down most offenses. The recent unlock roll changes made her a little bit weaker when against a warden or kensei, but it is still exceptionally powerful. - If the opoonent dodges your normal light, HS light or HS heavy, they won't have time to dodge again from the buffered kick, thus it is guaranteed (exceptions are dodge attacks, raider and nobushi). - Nobushi can counter the HS heavy by doing the swift recoil (dodge after a block) at the fastest timing, waiting for it to whiff, then do a viper's. If you delay it the kick will track you, like in the video. - Freeze didn't mention why you need to cancel the recovery of the zone punish. Well, the reason is that on blocked zones and sidewinders you can get guardbroken without a chance to CGB if you don't do it. - Although harder to do than other heroes', nobushi can use cobra and sidewinder as a dodge attack. The attack has to happen between 100-300ms into the dodge, but it has I-frames, contrary to popular belief. If the opponent is not bleeding cobra strike is the optimal, because it is 1 damage more than sidewinder (26 vs 25 dmg), but if they are bleeding, then sidewinder is better (30 vs 9-19 dmg). - If you CGB during the HS startup the stamina freeze (hehe) is not applied. - Depending on your reaction and connection you can parry almost anything on a light timing (mostly 800-1000ms attacks), and go into HS. If it's a light, you get the punish, if it's a heavy, you get a HS punish, if they feint you can CGB or react accordingly. 700ms attacks can be tricky. I personally don't use this against heroes with 700ms heavy attacks. - You can feint light attacks as well heavy attacks into HS, but the cost will be as if the attack whiffed. Heavy into HS is like 42 stamina I believe. There are cases (like Kensei's top finisher mix-up) when there is no need for a parry attempt before HS, because your punish dmg is more if you HS the UB rather than parry it (it's top heavy into kick in this case). - Remember the times when you couldn't dodge toestab after a light if you changed your guard too late? They fixed it by making the dodge have priority over a guard change. This is NOT the case with HS. If you change your guard, then press HS, and then change your guard again mid guard change recovery, the other guard change will happen again before the HS. Thus, if you want to HS something, avoiding changing your guard can help a lot. - If the devs implement the ability to attack 100ms after a guard change on static guard heroes, then nobu's option select will be changed massively. Currently you have 300ms guard change, 100-200ms heavy startup (depending on how fast you input the HS), 137ms dodge startup on HS. That's 537-637ms startup for her dodge if it's a heavy, and she performed this on a light timing. The above changes will cut off 200ms from the startup. - Dodging out of HS will make your guard come back from the same direction you entered it from almost immediately. You can see me doing that against berserker in the video. Why is it important? You can condition yourself so you can block instantly from 1 direction when in HS. Does that warden spam top lights after feints? Go into HS while your guard is top, so you are safe. - Recovery cancel is one the things that you should do constantly. This can be done after a zone feint, cobra, viper or a sidewinder. Your guard comes back from the direction your attacks came from. I'll give you 3 specific examples in fights. - In a group fight you do an attack and the opponent dodges it. If you know he will most likely do a GB, you can kick, but if he knows about this, and rather attacks after dodge, you have a chance to block. Lock onto the other person, do a viper's retreat from the direction where the enemy who dodged you is, and recovery cancel with a dodge. You will be able to block attacks that are not dodge attacks. - The highlander you are fighting sits in his OF, and always goes for a dodge into kick. You can counter this by doing a viper's retreat or cobra strike (baiting him) and then recovery cancel to counter attack his kick. - This player only does dodge attacks, but with a reaction of a god, he won't fall for feints. You can attack with a viper's or cobra and counter attack using your recovery cancel. - Unless the enemy has a dodge attack or is a raider, you can't be punished after a kick, because of the HS cancel (allowing you to CGB). - Know when you should use HS. For example, if you are playing against someone who has no OOS pressure, it might be worth it to lose your stamina (strictly when there is only 1 enemy) after a missed kick to CGB. But on the other hand, if the opponent has good OOS pressure, you might want to eat a GB instead. - Most people don't check if their first light connects when trying to use double confirmed lights, so if you happen to HS their light (warden side light, shinobi/shaman light, nobu HS double lights etc.) be ready to dodge a buffered light from HS, and time it properly, so you can punish with a cobra/sidewinder (depending on if they are bleeding). - There is another scenario that not many Nobushis know about. After sidewinder/cobra/viper's you can dodge cancel, BUT you have to do it "soon", if the opponent waits a little bit for example, and then bashes you, you will be past the dash recovery cancel window. Here you should use HS. HS recovery cancel starts later than a dodge recovery cancel, so you can use these 2 to cover all the time spent in recovery. Need to dodge fast? Dodge recovery cancel. Need to wait a little bit before dodging, but still in recovery? HS. - You can buffer the counter attack after HS-ing, no need to wait for the actual dodge to happen, because you can't cut off your 300ms I-frames. Unlike your dodge attacks. If you input your attack too soon into a dodge, you won't have any I-frames, this is not the case with HS. - Although you have seen it in the video against highlander, the dodge wasn't explained. Why can't other heroes double dodge from highlander's 50/50? Because of the extra 300ms recovery that you have on each dodge before you can CGB or dodge again. Dodge into HS, and HS into dodge ignore that. It's similiar to unlock rolling. So if you happen to dodge, and the opponent goes for a GB, you can try to do a HS. You will either CGB (and pay the stamina cost), or get guardbroken (no extra stamina is lost). - You need to experience when to use kick/light/heavy after a successful HS. General rule of thumb with many exceptions: heavy after a HS'd heavy, kick after a HS'd light, and light after bashes if the heavy is too slow (can be parried). - Out of the 3 options from HS, heavy into kick is the most damaging option, followed by the light, then kick. Attack speeds: 700ms heavy, 500ms light, 600ms kick if you want to interrupt him, 463ms if he wants to dodge (-137ms dodge startup from 600ms). So, fastest punish is the double light for interrupting, but heavy is the go to on high recovery moves. Kick is the best option if you don't know whether they can recover to block your lights. - I personally rebinded HS to CTRL, much easier to use for me. If you have made it this far, congratulations, and know that (guys, have some sense of humour) if you play nobu without Cat's Ears and Tamamo no Mae chest (the one with a cat mask on it) your opinion doesn't matter, and you are not a Nya~Bushi main.

ye but you can feint them. I mean, it's not worth doing 90% of the time since you can't punish the parry attempt in time but, y'know... the option's there I guess.
Edit: This is fixed now. It is worth mentioning that the normal out-of-stamina parry punish does not work if you parry an attack from your right guard. Top cobra strikes will whiff and side cobra strikes will not allow you to chain into a top heavy fast enough. If you get an out-of-stamina parry from the right guard and there is no wall behind the opponent, it is best to just go for a side heavy into a top heavy.

@@aaron_lopes Yeah, if those were two minor mistakes sure. But stamina management is a huge part of the game and coupling that with getting gbed out of Stam is very deserving of a solid 70 damage punish.
Hey Freeze, I do have a question for you. I don't fight many Nobushi, but I picked up a punish from pre-unbalance changes that was: Forward Throw, Delayed Cobra Strike, Triple Light, Kick, Light. This was guaranteed pre-unbalance changes, I believe. Is this punish no longer valid? Is the kick able to be dodged now? Nobushi being who she is, i don't often get to try out max punishes from OOS.
@@haruhas7604 She has 1 opener: her hidden stance heavy which guarantees kick on hit or block. Sure, it doesnt work against 3 characters, but it works against everyone else
I'm now sat here trying to imagine how long the list of match-up specific HS punishments would be. I've played at least a thousand hours of Nobu and it's still making my head hurt.
Nobu is my second main after Aramusha, and despite everything I find her to be overestimated in duels. Her HS is very good, but it's not as strong as it used to be: a lot of people can just spam 400ms, no recovery lights and beat HS or just reset things back to neutral when you are force to dodge. Why? because Nobu's counterattack options aren't fast enough. Also we shouldn't forget that feinting attacks with HS is equally slow, and people will punish you for it if you try to be a bit more aggressive and bait them to attack if they turtle like crazy, which is Nobushi's glaring weakness. Her HS counterattacks should be sped up to basically fix all these issues. Right now Nobushi is a combination of your ability to defend, since she doesn't have an offense without defense, and, for the major part, your opponents screwing up.
Depends on who your playing as but you're kinda forced to play by their tempo, kinda like zerk. Just stare at them and figure out when they want to demons embrace so you can get a free GB or better every time
Ohhh Glad has a fun answer for Shugoki. You have the opportunity to just dance around shugoki with his dash attacks and bashes. If you option select his unblockable + demons embrace mix up you just zone bash him out of the hug!
Scruffy McScruff heavy parry : light Gb : light/zone Gb wallsplat throw : heavy one your guard's direction Light parry : OS heavy OOS opponent parry : light into heavy is inconsistent, but it works sometimes. I recommend heavy into OS to continue immediately the offensive OOS throw : don't remember, but i think it's a top heavy and light heavy if near a wall Gb wallsplat while OOS : heavy in your guard's direction, distance matters a little Gb while OOS : i don't think you get anything. Kick/cabertoss : OS heavy That's all i remember
They're pretty simple. GB gives you a light or the first hit of a zone if you want, but you'll almost always do the light and fast flow into OF (offensive form), heavy parry gives you a light, light parry gives you a top heavy, wallsplat *always* gives a top heavy (regardless of distance or your current guard, or even if you're OOS, although you might need to be top guard if you're also OOS), and OOS throws/parries give a top heavy, with the exception of a wall allowing you to get light > top heavy. you exceed the bleed limit with that, so even if in theory it's more damage, because of the bleed cap it isn't.
Nobushi is a hidden gem! Or in other words a broken character in the right hands XD
No openers :(
U must not be the right hands
@@jaydenschelmety7610 nope dude she has nothing outside of turtling
@@immortalmachine5839 good dmg and turtle material and that's it
@@haruhas7604 She has 1 opener: her hidden stance heavy which guarantees kick on hit or block. Sure, it doesnt work against 3 characters, but it works against everyone else
Characters forced to play defensively always need work
Yo, the other nobushi has an ahegao emblem on their waist
I see he is a man of culture as well
Never even touched nobushi, why am I here
It’s good to look out for heroes you’ll eventually fight against.
So, is this the same after her nerfwork ?
What arms are those? They look great on your nobushi
Nobushi got nerf
Next punishes Nobushi video?
I'm now sat here trying to imagine how long the list of match-up specific HS punishments would be. I've played at least a thousand hours of Nobu and it's still making my head hurt.
Her punish are the best in the game and its so satisfing to get them even if her oos pressure is shit
What colour swatch is being used on Nobushi in this video?
Well hidden stance is very good
On PC
Hidden stance is very good*
It's sad because everyone nobushi I run into just kick spams sad sad sad
Oof
Bro they dont need to do anything else because u can get kicked spam lmao im sorry but if ur getting kick spammed ur bad bad bad :(
I play nubushi and don’t do that but when I have to that doge it with ease
Can Glad be next?
It’d just be a video of him uninstalling the game
She is a turtle and u need to use Hs not against Light attacks Etc, but againts things like Kick to grab and bashes
I'm scared of good Nobu players now... ;.
Seems that I'll get to sweat to get some nobu skills ...
Dang I'm glad I watched I had no idea nobu was so viable tbh
Guys how do I do the cobra kick thing while on ps
Is this video still fully viable or after her rework she has different punishes?
yea but dont punish heavies with zone anymore. they reduced the damage so vipers retreat is her best option
Its just the backstep bleed, isnt it?
after a heavy parry, yes, that is an option, but you can also do a zone attack feint
Can someone explain to me how the law can avoid hiddenstance blocked heavy into kick?
he cant anymore
it was because of block shove
Now that's a good fucking thumbnail
here's the raw pic if you want it: imgur.com/eC6FAL9
@@fkkfreeze Thank you very much. Love the content keep it up
Hey anyone got tips on dealing with reworked shugoki I still seem to have trouble with them.
Depends on who your playing as but you're kinda forced to play by their tempo, kinda like zerk. Just stare at them and figure out when they want to demons embrace so you can get a free GB or better every time
@@Commander_Spyke I've been maining pk since s1 but for a few months I've been playing other characters such as glad and zerk mainly
if you're playing nobushi you can deal with it in a similar fashion to HL kick/grab mixup
in regards to his charged heavy/demon's embrace mixup
Ohhh Glad has a fun answer for Shugoki. You have the opportunity to just dance around shugoki with his dash attacks and bashes. If you option select his unblockable + demons embrace mix up you just zone bash him out of the hug!
freeze feels like the dad of the FH community
Do most of these still apply?
What are HL's punishes?
Scruffy McScruff heavy parry : light
Gb : light/zone
Gb wallsplat throw : heavy one your guard's direction
Light parry : OS heavy
OOS opponent parry : light into heavy is inconsistent, but it works sometimes. I recommend heavy into OS to continue immediately the offensive
OOS throw : don't remember, but i think it's a top heavy and light heavy if near a wall
Gb wallsplat while OOS : heavy in your guard's direction, distance matters a little
Gb while OOS : i don't think you get anything.
Kick/cabertoss : OS heavy
That's all i remember
They're pretty simple. GB gives you a light or the first hit of a zone if you want, but you'll almost always do the light and fast flow into OF (offensive form), heavy parry gives you a light, light parry gives you a top heavy, wallsplat *always* gives a top heavy (regardless of distance or your current guard, or even if you're OOS, although you might need to be top guard if you're also OOS), and OOS throws/parries give a top heavy, with the exception of a wall allowing you to get light > top heavy.
The database linked below has resources including punishes for all heroes, by the way.

Ah yes, My favorite base game hero. The hero I have tried several times to pick up and still can't play decently. Maybe one day. Hats off to you freeze and Jacket.
Find a wall, then heavy, kick, heavy, kick, heavy, dead
mongrelshadow14 watch mr. medium and then just learn. i picked her up one month ago and now she’s rep 17 for me. it’s all i can play
@@faeduh i've watched a lot of him. And it's why i'm even capable of pulling wins at all. I'm still bad though.
Did they change nobushi or something?
no
Hey @freeze have any good streamer/youtuber that mains PK for me to get some tips?
"If you want to dive deeper into what the character has to offer". AKA, if for some reason you are a masochist who enjoys timing out every single game because all you have is defense.
Angus Kirwan Wait Lawbringer?
After playing Ghost of Tsushima, For Honor feels like it’s annoying younger sibling.
can you do shaman next please OwO
This still viable?
no
freeze thx again my guy, will you do an updated ver?
yap, people even talked about it in the discord, noone was sure about the punishes :)
am I the only one who thinks nobushi could use actual dodge atack? you know, atack that serves as a dodge...
both her dodge light and heavy can serve as a dodge attack when delayed, though.
You think Danny still plays nobu LUL. He's been on that JJ grind lately and is branching out his character pool.
ya, he clearly didn't play Nobu in yesterdays 2s tourny... what am I thinking
@@fkkfreeze Aside from that tournament. He's been playing a bunch of other stuff with increased frequency lately.
yeah, I know, but he's still one of the best Nobus the game has atm :)
And I actually want to see him stream myself, hehe
@@fkkfreeze As would I, but he said he's gonna get bullied. Danny's too pure for this world
don't we have a lovely community? :(
Fuck and i thought she's easy to use when i bought her, but idk why i really like her tho i play bad with her
Can you do an updated punish video on Shinobi? No one makes clearer guides thank you tbh, but your Shinobi video is dated. Please? From, a rep 19 Shinobs
DO RAIDER PLEASE
His are pretty simple and they haven’t changed at all, just look one up there’ll be a few
Just watch Flux's guides on Raider, ez
Ecks Dee the only one that can be complex to know when you get it or not is the top heavy into zone when throwing someone OOS near a wall
Im a nobushi main but she still sucks she needs a rework
These are unfortunately out of date :(
Kobushi after all these years still secretly the most overpowered character in the game
I don't think so
All this and still a C tier in duels :(
this information is actually false, as I have proof that she is in FACT is Not a C-tier in duels :)

Great joke, now grow a finger on your forehead and scratch your eye out.
“How to, Nobishi” videos =
Don’t use her. She isn’t viable what so ever and lacks an even decent kit lol
Nice video though
"She is not viable " That's why she's in every fucking turnament
best defensive tool in the entire game, nice try though
she's not good because she has offense but because of her crazy defense and zoning in minion
@@chrisreilly4006 "unlock tech and spam zone" hasn't been around for over a year, but sure. And it definitely did make her good, very good, but is no longer the case. She is not a practical hero in 1v1, but a staple pick in 2v2 and 4v4 due to having wide hitboxes, great recovery (because of her dodge cancels), and a good punish game (long reach and high damage), along with some stellar feats in 4v4 (body count, smoke bomb, second wind, fire trap).
bonefat21
You’re listing all the good stuff about her. She still has no unblockable and 600ms light attacks. Her light attacks are the weakest in this game (not including bleed) and against fast hero’s she is nothing. Her mix up game is non existent, what else?... her health pool is small.
