People Get Close to Bison in Yellowstone

  • This is what you should not do in Yellowstone National Park. Thankfully this time it did not lead to any injury. Bison have the potential to be dangerous when approached this close. This was filmed with a large telephoto from an appropriate distance.

Big brother and I went to Yellowstone when we were young.
We parked at one of the attractions and observed people goiing up to a black bear sow and her cubs.
I mean, right up, tossing food, taking snaps.
We observed all this while staying on our car, wondering what had happened to common sense.
Apparently these people thought that they had stumbled across Yogi and Boo Boo.

When I was a kid, my father managed a lot of cattle land in Calabasas CA. He used to take us along when he cruised the fire breaks. One particular day we were cruising through this beautiful meadow and there was a bull, just chilling. Well apparently he saw my dad's car as a threat or challenger...So in true domesticated bovinical bull fashion he, with head down snorting and pawing the ground, began charging my dad's car.
    I say this for comparison
    This was a domesticated Bull.
Vs Amwrican Bison, a wild and more aggressive, and much bigger bovine. What the heck are these folk thinking???

But what infuriated me is as soon as one of these animals turns around and hurts somebody then they end up murdering the animal. There is no cure for stupidity, when I was a small girl (okay we're talking over half a century now) if we went to the park we tried to stay as far away from the tourists as we possibly could because we all felt that eventually one of these people are going to get everybody killed.

People are more stupid than a wild animal. Sometimes I wish the Animal wouldn't be so patient and peaceful.

It is a shame that that bison didn't stomp him, that idiot he would be famous. When entering a park there needs to be a mandatory LECTURE and a signed paper that if they get hurt it is on them. Plus a ticket for acts like that, an expensive one.
