    I know that was difficult to eat, but imagine the talent of not only preparing it while traveling, but plating and presenting it as well. Absolutely top notch!

    Wow - Aru Ressha is simply gorgeous. I loved where you were seated, with all of the lovely wood, but I think I might have gone for car#1 myself. I really liked the open, airy feel, and the fact that you could see out the windows on both sides of the train. The meal was delectable looking, from that complex appetizer to the quartet of delicious desserts. I bet it wasn't easy eating anything which could spill from your spoon, with all the bumps and jostles. The table service was so unique, with the wooden utensils and the hand-blown bubble glass bowl - so elegant! Thanks for taking us along on this special trip with you. I'm so glad we could come along!

    I was fortunate enough to board this train on March as well, but from Hakata to Yufuin instead. The menu is the same as the one in this video.
    Before we board the train, we got a warm welcome from the staff despite being a foreigner who know very limited Japanese.
    As a group of 3, we instead booked the open table at Car 1. In my opinion the open table feel less congested then the room.
    Though the privacy and exclusiveness is something to consider with your booking.
    Service is simply impeccable. The staff really took care of us. The atmosphere is delicate without being too formal.
    English menu was provided and the staffs do speaks English. But do note that even they can speak fluently, it could be still be pretty challenging for them to explain everything fully in English.
    Meal is the same you see in this vlog. Though the appetizer and the fish dish are especially memorable.
    The appetizer is a twist to a traditional Japanese steamed custard (茶碗蒸し) presented like a dessert.
    The olive oil on the fish dish really brings the dish to the next level. Easily one of the best olive oil I have tried.
    (And lol I have tried every single drink on the drink menu, even the spring water, which you do taste a slight difference. It's like comparing distilled water to Evian)
    Overall even though it is an expensive ride, it is truly a remarkable and unique experience to enjoy.
    In my opinion it is total worth it and a must-try if you are visiting Kyushu and got the time and budget.
    Side note: In my trip the train had a brief stop at Tanushimaru Station (田主丸駅), where you can find Kappa(?) themed statues around the station. They even got some friendly locals selling souvenirs right by the the train.

    What an amazing train, train ride, and meal. The train is beautiful inside and out. I've never seen an appetizer as beautiful as the one you were severed. Not going to ask what beef cheeks are, but glad you enjoyed it. Without the fancy interior the train reminded me of the trains that were in service when I was a child. Loved everything about today's journey. Will be there for the next one. Take care, stay safe.

    • @nancys2212
      @nancys2212 Рік тому

      Beef cheeks are from the cows face. They have cheeks like we do. The meat is very tender as the cheeks just sit there and are NOT a working part of the face. Therefore, it is an expensive cut of meat as there are only 2 per cow.
      You also find it in halibut fish. You'll rarely see a complete fish as fish mongers take the cheeks because the two cheeks are worth more than the rest of the fish you've cut them from. Again, very delicate and tasty. And of course, pricey, but worth it for both species.

    • @gloriawatson
      @gloriawatson Рік тому

      @@nancys2212 I instinctively knew where beef cheeks came from . . . I just have never seen them in the grocery store. As for Halibut, It's been so over fished, I'm surprised there are enough left for the fisherman to take many cheeks. Thank you for your reply. much appreciated.
