  • When it gets dark in the Baja Desert there is no such thing as too many lights. With this DIY off road light bar I show you how I build one and what I think is the best place to locate lights on an off road rig. Check out the link below if you are looking for some off road ready lights.

Great video Dave, as per usual. Nice, to the point, and shows just how much you can accomplish, relatively quickly, with carefully selected tools. The lights on that bar look great, and most folks would think you bought that bar from a pro-shop somewhere. Keep it coming!

I appreciate these video’s. Lots of good information.
I purchased my plasma table, watched the videos. Now I’m fabing away with my boy in the garage.
I’m also a San Diego local. Building a couple Nissan’s right now.

Looks great! We actually made a 1.5" bottom-mounted "eyebrow" for the light bar on our roof rack. It does a pretty good job at reducing the light flood onto the hood.

I built a "safari rack" for my Jeep XJ over 25 years ago and installed lights on it. The first time I tried it out, I decided that it wasn't that great of a design because if illuminated the hood and thus actually *decreased* my forward visibility. I had wondered if whether moving the lights further back so that the roof of the XJ would provide a bit of a shadow on the hood would fix that, but never got around to testing it...

Just thinking....how much light would you lose with some plasma-cut light guards? For instance, some 1" hex grills cut to fit in front of each light? Seems like something like that could make the difference between nicking and obliterating a light lens on the trail! Love your pipe/tube bender by the way.

Great video. I wonder if any of the Auxbeam lights would be good for the upper light bar even if it’s a backup.

They are great lights. Hope we will be able to use them on Lefty too.
