    Always loved the rear mount setup, can’t wait to get 1 in the tray of the old Ute. It’s got a 6.2 ls with an auto and she’s a hwy pig, lag won’t be that much of a problem for the ol girl.
    Research shows the diameter and length of the exhaust is what causes most of the lag issues so that’s why it’s important to choose the right size zorst and also turbine housing size to keep lag down. Bigger is not always better in this application.

      For sure! And with tuning features like antilag they are great options for drag racing as well as they can build the boost before they launch. I forgot to mention that in the video

    I'm planning on running a rear mount setup on my e39 530i since i'm eventually gonna cut the trunk floor anyways and i've noticed a very clear path for cold side piping underneath the car and over the front subframe without any obstructions. The only thing that makes me hesitant is the oil scavenging system hooked up to the engine oil. The need of the electric pump to push engine oil back to the engine scares me so I wonder if it's doable to just create a standalone oiling system with one or two scavenge pumps, a reservoir, and a oil cooler. Seems better to me because it eliminates that risk of having a scavenge pump failure killing your turbo and possibly the engine

      Yes this is an option I explored as well but didn't think it was the best fit for my build. But the scavenge pump definitely is the weak spot. Definitely a smart idea or add some safeties like oil pressure gauge or an alarm of some kind. Currently I can hear the pump and I know if it's not working. So far so good!

      They literally make oil-less turbos. But anyone building a rear mount likely can’t afford that kind of turbo.

      @AllTheBoost those oilless turbos are just not it for a budget minded build honestly. They are just grease packed and the grease needs changing constantly in order to maintain the life of the turbo. Comp turbo grease is like 200 bucks every 3k miles. You can just build a legitimate standalone oiling system for not much more than one of those grease changes.

    Very few people actually want rear mount. It’s mostly a poor boy or a decently not a mechanic type of build. Limp mode has always been under suspicion ever since their intakes never made power outside “their” dyno.

    How do you get your single turbo Z to sound like that? Is it twin or single scroll? What's your header and midpipe setup? X, H, or divorced duals? Equal length midpipes?

    What are your thoughts on hot side pipe size? Bigger same or smaller

      I'd say same maybe half an inch smaller BUT I would probly consult with your tuner as well

    I have a offer to get a cheap rmt set up. I use the car for drifting would this be a issue with lag? I’m looking to reduce the pipe work he has and I’m only aiming for around 370/400 to keep it reliable and not needing to forge or crazy with supporting mods. I’d like boost around 3-3500rpm, is this possible with a low boost/small turbo set up?

    • @blackpearlmedia7797
      @blackpearlmedia7797  9 місяців тому

      That should be doable. Honestly. I can't tell you exactly what turbo to go with, but just do some research that I know there are at least two or three people that drift with rim out systems

      @@blackpearlmedia7797 I had a r32 gtst with a greddy td06 it was a pig to keep in boost, soon as it dropped under 4500 it died. I’m finding the turbo hard to size as it’s not common in the uk or others seem to be wanting bigger turbos for big power
