The problem was not the restauration, but it sealed the deal. The problem was the "rock paper scissors". You made a lot of Hersir, they are a hero unit, basically they are not very good against anything but myth units. We have 2 "rock paper scissors" in AoM. The classic spears > cav, cav > archers, archers > spears. Also the Hero > Myth, Myth > Regular unit, Regular unit > Hero (cost effect)
Also, Loki change from Hersir core to Counter units core. You need to scout enemy composition (Greek is easiest to scout) and build lots of counter unit.
Personally I think his choice of god was an issue, Baldur while lacking the techs for Hersirs and Ulfsarks gets the Einherjar, far superior to the troll with better health, damage, armor, and the ability to buff the attack of your local soldiers pretty considerably. The healing spring is otherwise the only reason I can think why you would choose Forseti, though its utility in this case is questionable, losing a skirmish results largely in unit deaths meaning to make best use of the spring you must win the skirmishes and bring your victorious yet damaged units back, though it does also act as decent area denial/defense as your opponent is unlikely to be willing to engage within the radius of the spring. With the utility of the spring in mind, Forseti is more of a defensive choice, him being aggressive with his building and skirmishing means he was practically unable to utilize any of the bonuses of his god, while his opponent was able to use his own healing power to great effect. He was stuck with the poorly performing Troll for this as well, and largely built Hersir and Raiding Cav which is an expensive and easily countered match by using a front line of Hoplites and a back line of Toxotes with the standard Greek hero units thrown in. Einherjar and Throwing Axemen alone would counter the Greek human-heavy army much more effectively, mowing through the front line with ease and allowing the Einherjar to clown on the Toxotes. Throwing in a handful of Hersir to deal with the enemy Minotaur is also viable, though this build comp should be able to DPS them to death anyway. Even with the enemy dropping Restoration, the concentrated DPS of this build should allow them to overpower the enemy in this skirmish. To utilize the Healing Spring and his build more effectively, he should have skirmished more defensively, harassing to deter flanking but refusing to engage in a pitched battle outside of the range of the Spring. With him occupying the choke point into his base with the spring, it prevents the enemy from engaging aggressively, and by harassing and keeping pressure in the center they cannot risk leaving their own front line undefended and flanking from the sides of the map. In summary, - His choice of classical god railroaded him into a strategy which he failed to utilize. - His choice of army comp was easily and cheaply countered by standard units - Baldur is better
@@axelblack1799yeah i agree , heimdall is the more agressive choice for rushing /early pressure. the whole point of forseti was to get hall of thanes move speed + inherent loki speed to hace very fast moving hersirs and raid vills and poke and get back to heal damaged units then semi fast heroic and go mass battleboars + flaming weapons push to crush any fight and take down important structures even if he retreats. But this is no longer used it seems due to the removal of the hersir move speed Loki god trait.
Bait out restoration, leave, doesn't matter if your units are hurt, you have a healing spring, they have a single restoration. And at this stage it's almost impossible to out DPS a restoration power
it's imoossible to outdps on any age. the only way is to have a mass if ranged units big enough to os units and shift click em on the unit.and even then it is not a goodidea to fight a restoration since they will heal back to full for the rest if the units and most likely win anyway .
Great to see you excited and analyzing your recs! Luyindula is a seasoned aom player so itll be tough to beat him. On what you could gave done: opening great hall means you want to raid initially, its better to build that at home since raiding cav means it wont be a straight forward push. Id suggest to send the initial hersir and berserk to the enemy hunt and push him off there first. Against greek id suggest going for a lot more throwing axeman, they counter hoplites and in the original even trade well against tox due to them basically being ranged berserk(ta deals hack dmg) and yes healing spring is mostly a gp for using at home to heal ur raiding units or do a early 2 tc play to defend. Id suggest going heimdall for forward all ins and freyja for raiding when building great halls at home. You kinda did all 3 in one which is why you lost.
Just want to mention this, but i discovered your channel through AoM. I hope you are going to pump out more AoM content as ive been basically waiting for a new one every day. thanks for the content
Kind of hope so. Looks to be more fun! 4 is a bit stale and mechanics are pretty much the same in terms of what type of strategy to win games. At least in my games, conq3 on Xbox. Admittedly not a huge player pool but still
I believe that it will be bigger than AOE4. AOE4 never really took off. Can't even make top 100 on steam most played games list less than 3 years after release.
On launch maybe, but I don't think it will last as long. The multiplayer has always been full of imbalances. And while fun at first, will become irritating after a while. I hope the modding tools are easy to use. There were a lot of really fun custom map/gamemodes. I loved the tiny FFA games.
Hello, Norse Raiding Cavalary is good. Get Freya and a Valkyrie. And some additional pierce armor. Build some walls in order to hide from raids. Fast units are very important. Cause the town centers are far away from each other. Just run away from restoration. Axe throwers are good for defense. But they need to get protected by walls.
Maybe a little but not so much in Retold. Loki doesn't give a lot of buffs to Hersir anymore and instead focuses on Counter damage so units like Throwing Axemen or Hirdmen do well under him.
@@lolfearme The best build order i found was fast heroic. You want to go Heimdall -> Bragi -> Build Town hall. Build 10 Godi's Archers. you get Einherjar upgrade. you have to turn off the auto-roar skill and use Einherjar's skill manually. Build 2 Einheriar's and stagger their roar manually. the front line is either Axemen, Hirdmen or Huskars. it depends if enemy is building mass archers, mass cav or mass infantry. Loki wants to bloom now. you bloom till heroic age and then you get a powerful flaming weapon attack. for the game that he lost. he had to build 1 longhouse at his base with temple. send 1 hensir scout to find enemy's barrack type and then build 10 axeman.
I feel like u had to bait oit the heal and took a hike untill the heal was done back to ur spring while making more units. He had lots of hoplite so a little more throwing axemen and less hersir?
Went too far into Hersir ( not super good vs non myth) where you coule have scouted what hes building ahead of time. Didnt run from melee in restoration (wasted health and low effective damage). But generally now that god powers are reusable i feel that the norse have the weakest powers early game and hardest time getting them out multiple times even if they were worth it. None of them really help with what they are trying to do nor serve as counters i feel like.
is it me or genuinely its harder to see what is happening with units? as aoe3 player i know that if my units shoots someone, they will take damage, but here i see 5 guys against 1 and no one is taking damage, or arrows just dont connect. its so weird for me to macro army here i guess
yeah , the clarity isworse than original AOM too due ti the smoother textures and less flashy contrast of fladhy colours with the background of the maps. and arrows can miss if units move at a certain speed.

you built in his face, why stop recruiting? with norse, you want to block him in his base. Never stop apply pressure, cause in classic, you're stronger thanks to myth units and raiders are quite fast
unupgraded raiders are garbage in a straight up fight ESPECIALLY vs greek. Better to use them for raids imo , push him off of hunt and avoid direct fight until you mass a good number +medium upgrade and added in a few throwing axemen.
