Very funny sponsor transition
NEW USERS ONLY NOOO
We need to start a go fund me to hire Sakuria to come in for a week to fix Multiverses
world of warships is unironically fun
bro you are just a replica of chael sonnen
I enjoyed the game in beta, then they took it down for a year and brought it back with:
-Spectate mode gone
-ability to play offline gone
-ability to try characters in training/local VS gone
-option to adjust input buffer gone
-game speed slowed to a crawl
-wonder woman no longer free
feels pretty bad, probably not gonna bother making any content for it anymore
I was actually shocked at the speed and the camera. I have no idea how they fumbled this so bad
Wonder Woman actually stopped being free during the beta in the update that added Rick. Shaggy was made free instead
It's giving so many OW2 flashbacks LMAO
This is the funniest sponsor segment in Coney history. The only competition that is even close is when he hit us with Morgan&Morgan
Hold up when was that a thing? I've gotta see this 😂
@NeonSqueaky "My apology to MKleo" it was very unexpected, but he got a very nice-looking hat.
Nah that fox gel blaster thing was legendary
@@VballDozotrue man it came out of nowhere
thank you world of warships for mending coney's vocal cords
Great review of the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 update, Coney! I must admit it's certainly a weird design choice that they elongated SpongeBob and gave him that pointy stick, though.
They also took away his nose. Very unusual choice
I think that wb misread the audience. In a pursuit to appeal to the everyday couch gamer, they instead alienated basically everyone. The sweats are upset because their characters dont function, the progress is non-existent and missions dont work. For the casuals, the rifts dont function well, they cant try out the characters they want and missions dont work. It's like they purposely tried to speedrun making every poor decision
That's been how WB is ever since Zalava took over
Funny how THIS KEEPS HAPPENING. Every game is getting gutted for casuals instead of just making a new game for casuals
What if instead of Multiversus it was called Coneyversus and instead of WB characters every character was Coney in a Joker shirt?
I'd actually play it then
Can't wait for Coneyversus Ultimate, where Coney wears over 100 different Joker shirts
"games have to make money somehow" then just remove the battle pass, charge people $30 for the game, all characters unlocked (or reasonably unlockable) by default, with extra content added later in DLC packs
To be honest, as someone who is relatively new to platform fighters, this game being slower is much more forgiving and easier for learning than other games and thats why I've been enjoying it so much. I can understand why this would frustrate better players but as a beginner, this is quite the good baby game.
Just sounds like a skill issue tbh
@@Toru_AdachiThey literally said they were a new player bro
@@Toru_Adachi that was kind of the point of the comment, that it's catered towards more casual players than the beta. nothing wrong with being new to a genre of games. most people don't like to pass a skill check before they can have fun
I'm glad you're able to have a positive experience and I hope this could be that stepping stone to one of the more underrated genres.
I can respect that perspective. I do think there’s still a balance they could strike that makes the game still competitively exciting while still making it forgiving for newcomers.
Smash 4 is on the slower side of the Smash speed spectrum, but I still think newcomers could pick up on the movement pretty well.
Welcome to Multiversus launch edition, we got:
- Multiple characters with infinites
- Bugs so egregious that I have no idea how they didn't find them
- 2 physically uncompletable daily challenges that require unreleased characters
- Another physically impossible to complete challenge to unlock an unreleased character
- Buying characters in order to use them offline, so good luck running offline tournaments
- No spectating in lobbies, so good luck running online tournaments
- A new currency you get from buying cosmetics which you can use to... buy cosmetics...
- Constant crashing on consoles
- Broken crossplay
- No ranked mode
- 30 frame input buffer (that's half a second if you're not a nerd)
- Control options removed from the beta
- Frame drops
- Nonexistent character balance
how could they not have found Bugs, he was one of the first characters!
I’m sorry the input delay is 30 seconds???? What the fuck???
@@ElectricWindGirlFriendit's half a second
@@ElectricWindGirlFriendinput buffer, not input delay
Wait hold the fuck on 30 frames??? There's no way
I was so optimistic about this game’s return but every step forward they took two steps back. Hopefully they listen to feedback and get better but man idk.
Hopefully their ass doesn't get Zaslav'd
Tbh i don't think they took any steps forwards at all.
@@sirsuffer3461 people really need to go back and play beta online again, cuz it was terrible. Ping advantage, spam/unpunishable moves, and lag/desync/hit reg issues.
One of the big issues that Coney talked about though was that it feels like the game almost started over though. I agree with you that the beta had plenty of issues, but an argubalt better solution woukdve been to improve the game at hand rather than carve out what feels like a different one @ohsuhtinah
They taking steps back because the community isn’t really helping make a game their making what they want things that will make people happy instead of making the game what it’s supposed to be plus the community is telling them the wrong shit tbh
The shaggy disappearing thing is something that happens with every character in the practice stage
are you guys fucking dumb? It’s the smoke. Like that’s a game mechanic, the smoke makes the other person invisible. Turn off stage hazards.
The comedic timing on him reappearing was pretty good
I honestly miss the weird empty grey training room over just using the batman stage with hazards enabled.
It happened to me in the first match I played, so it's not just practice
Input buffer is horrible, some characters just disrespect hitboxes like banana guard and bugs. Arya can’t stun with face steal. It’s just horrible. I’ll wait till the first update to fully judge.
Lmao banana guard and bugs hit anything u could hit them first but they somehow would still hit u and don’t get stun
Bugs can just spam, anything and nothing stops his hit boxes lmao 😅
I HATE IT. I HATE IT SO MUCH
The game released twice and you’re somehow still waiting for an update to “fully judge”. You’re getting taken for a ride, lol.
6:40 i dont see an issue with grinding to unlock characters, but they need to give you like at least a couple for free. Let the player choose 2 characters for free to own. It's LAUNCH and we cant play the characters we want
As a point of reference Street Fighter 6 and guilty Gear Strive have 4 frames of input buffer, Tekken 8 has 8 frames of buffer Smash Ultimate has 9 and UFdK2 has ∞ (as long as a button is held).
If the devs wanted to make actions very lenient a approach closer to indefinite buffer would probably be preferable.
smash ultimate also has hold buffer. i think the mixed solution it has is quite good, though some people seem to feel 9 frames of standard buffer is too much. i don’t notice it though
As someone who also mained Velma in open beta, I was very disappointed with how hard they nerfed Velma. She’s no longer fun. She desperately needs a buff.
They shat on my main Reindog too, his neutral attack is now literally useless as well as his tether being trash now because your teammates die instantly before you can use his pull back and he already wasn’t one of the top characters but needless to say i had to find a new main
Superman got annihilated
@@train123z Oh trust me I tried him just to get him to level one for the level up missions that came out today and he feels awful now
@@oober567 They somehow gutted everyone but also made everyone broken
But unlike before it's not fun
How do you manage this
Oh my god what you said about the Rifts is just so gratifying to hear from someone else. Why the FUCK is there no quit button!? Where is there no restart button? To quote AVGN, WHAT WERE THEY THIIIIINKIIIING?????
They weren’t
Don’t you see? They needed to add an option to take you to gleamium with a stick press, that clearly takes priority over basic menu functions
My biggest issue is unlocking characters. I’m a brand new player who only watched the beta from the sidelines but didn’t actually play it. Now that I’m playing the game, I’m being punished for not playing the beta. I have put in 14 hours at this point and literally was only just able to unlock my SECOND character. At this rate I will be dead before I unlock the full roster. That’s fucking inexcusable. I main Harley Quinn and really like her, but this isn’t the “Harley Quinn platform fighter”, I want to play as other characters too. I don’t blame the devs for this as they clearly love and care about this game. This is definitely WB’s fault and greed. I can complain about mechanics, speed, camera, etc. all I want, but if I don’t have other options for characters to play as, I will be only noticing the shit I experience as Harley Quinn and not the full experience. This is absurd to me
Also I’m not spending money to unlock characters. $10 dollars to UNLOCK ONE CHARACTER is outrageous to me. It would cost literal hundreds of dollars to unlock the full cast. Why would I spend that much money when I could go play Smash bros for $60 which has more than triple of the cast (not even including dlc)
Yeah I’m not new I played the beta but fuck all I unlocked Batman and that’s about it (Wonder Woman too but that was an Auto Unlock with the tutorial) the fighter currency is pretty bad especially even if you do all the dailies and weeklies you get basically no currency (I’ve been playing constantly for 3 days and have unlocked the character and aiming at joker )
Another issue is the character levels unless you hard focus 1 character you don’t get any currency for ages it requires 5 levels my highest character level is 4 and that’s with shit like completing the rifts on both unlocked difficulty options and plenty of fights
I will say though the free characters you get are pretty fun with Jason and banana guard (agent smith is impossible to unlock until they release more rifts)
I wouldn't mind if they had a pass to unlock everybody the way that Brawlhala does, but Warner Bros. is bound and determined to make a live service game work, and every time they’ve been shot down, and I highly doubt that with this many Ls under their belt they’re gonna give up now. It’s a matter of pride by this point.
Oh well i played in the beta and we are in the same situation, the thing is all the gold i decided to keep in the beta (which is the old currency to buy characters in the beta) is now WORTHLESS because it got converted into cosmetics bs... I really should have bought characters
@@jmurray1110 Dude I haven't even been able to unlock Jason for free. He's apart of the battle pass because again, I'm refusing to pay money because I know if I do I won't be able to stop with the microtransactions

nuh uh

you do realize that any game that launches with a functional battle pass implemented cannot be beta or early access. this game already launched, closed, then relaunched but worse.
Exactly
This game reached 2 seasons, with full microtransactions, then was pulled for low player count and when they said it was actually an “open beta” a giant red flag popped up for me.
As somebody who’s been playing almost 90% of plat fighters since Smash 64’s release this official release version seems too jarring of a difference from a traditional plat fighter. It seems that with SF6’s successful launch they enjoyed the drive system and decided to implement that here. However, at their core, I believe platform fighters are naturally mash fests whether people like to admit that or not. And that’s ok. It makes it easy to understand and fun for casuals while also giving a dopamine rush when players do a cool “fast-paced” combos.
After the first two days of playing this I did NOT enjoy it. But after watching NAKAT’s videos it shed some light on how the game should be played and that made it much more enjoyable for me. I’ve been playing more traditional fighters lately so being able to get rewarded extensively for playing neutral and whiff punishing in this new version has been pretty sick. However the new system changes seem too drastic for what the general audience of this game was. I appreciate what PFG has done with the game but I think they either needed to communicate these changes more clearly or should have made these system changes a whole new game mode completely because it’s not what everyone fell in love with.
Sorry for rambling. TLDR: This new engine probably should have been a different game mode completely because it no longer feels like what was originally marketed to the public. Still cool tho for being different for plat fighters.
it didn't make the vid bc of rush but I talked about it a bit on stream, one of my big problems was with the emphasis on whiff punishing + huge hitboxes
like, I KNOW Shaggy or BG are going to side special 90% of the game, but because I can't reliably challenge it, I have to let them do it and punish after as best I can
my issue there is that the worse player is dictating pace for MOST of the match. thats not a bad game or anything but its not why I loved MVS
and since there's no ranked and an absurd amount of casuals I'm fighting that casual mindless Shaggy/BG player 1000 times
@@CONEYZZ 100% Agree. I did say in your chat last night that I think the reason ranked isn't released yet is because they want to give people time to get used to these system changes before getting sweaty. Ultimately I feel like that just hurts regardless because the more I have to play against those players ESPECIALLY while dodging Mojo Jojo I just don't want to touch the game. But when I do manage to get people that think, it's enjoyable.
Yeah that's what I was wondering, the camera's zoom in and general speed of characters made it look a lot more like a traditional fighter than platform, which actually interests me a lot
"Everything is so big now" kinda wraps up my experience since I main Arya, I can hit my knives now which is cool. But, the big thing is that I can't get in close for an m1 combo because I get hit a thousand miles away, so my only chance to combo someone is to parry which wasn't an issue in the last game, and even less so because Arya used to have the stun. I think the stun was fine, so long as they made it a very, VERY long cooldown. This is ESPECIALLY true with banana guard, where the man is a thousand meters away, and he still hits you with one button press
Personally I was never a fan of this game but I was happy it was well received in beta. Sad to see they kinda fumbled the release, hopefully they can course correct before it’s too late
11:14 remember when attack decay prevented things like this
Why the hell did they take out attack decay? What were they thinking with any of this?
Attack Decay is still in the game, they just don't show the text notification when it applies (like in Smash)
I remember when attack decay completely punished players who can only find one option or pop at the worst possible time because you didn't mentally keep track of how many times you used X move.
Attack Decay needs to stay gone
Remember when attack decay prevented skill issues. Learn to play.
Honestly I (and everyone else) feel like if they can increase the game speed, the game would be significantly better.
Also once again, the completely not Coney voice over change during the ad read, peak.
If they up speed they risk even more crashing issues because everyone is on a different speed the game network moderates that, but it still combats with higher networking speeds, so if lower speed players play along with high speed players theirs a chance it could crash, two lower speed players play the game won’t work, two high speed players the game will flow perfectly, it’s a nat type thing upping the speed will cause crashes in any game because the network can’t keep up with it.

Every character feels different now, it's a new balance. Velma was my main (spent $15 for a costume) and had to take the L. Try another character. My other mains (Shaggy, Morty and Taz) feel terrible now too, so I learned Jason, Joker and Banana Guard
Shaggy is literally fine????
@TheOnlyGokuMain I can feel him I played shaggy alot and the new speed makes alot of combos that he had not viable not to mention the 30 frame input delay definitely makes him feel weird to play

I too was not in love with the launch. Idk how they didn't test it?

30 frame input buffer is insane. Wtf were they thinking
8:01 watching coney develop the shill in real time was magical
Coney four days ago: who to pick as your multiverses main 😀
Coney today: 😑
7:38 “I just think games have to make money somehow”
The issue is those parent companies aren’t just looking to “make money”. They want to make ALL THE MONEY.. They want every last bit of your paycheck and every last second of your free time being spent on the game.
It could have been supremely easy to charge $30-60 like any other game and raked in a couple of million in sales. But no, they needed to add every possible monetizing scheme possible in the hopes SOMETHING catches money, because this game will not survive a third re-release.
The distance between the top tier characters and the bottom is like nothing I have ever seen in a modern fighting game. Banana guard
I think what frustrates me the most is the game losing out on features. if I recall, beta also had the 30f buffer, but there was a buffer slider that allowed you to adjust it. That was taken out at launch so now we are stuck with it. Other stuff like controller customization options, stats, being able to look at characters in training mode, ranked, etc were taken out as well and while I have heard the devs do plan on re-adding those features, it’s hard for me to trust them/WB cause I’ve waited a year for this game only to watch it move backwards. It’s just frustrating to me
Also I come from a nasb1 background so slow gameplay isn’t my cup of tea so I kinda knew I wasn’t gonna enjoy it, but that’s more so a preference thing
I honestly didn't have the best time with it. In the beta, it was at least very fluid and responsive, dodge spam was just too good. Now it's the opposite. It's not necessarily the fact it's a slower paced game but to me it feels way less responsive.
Moves are slower, some moves are needlessly laggy, it's still clunky and jank. It also still feels odd to have everyone so floaty. I don't have a character that clicks with me in this game at all. Everyone feels so bad to me and it wasn't like this in the beta. The beta was fun.
Coneys complaint about Velma is the same exact way I feel about Superman. The fact that they completely removed his Vertical throwing capabilities is insane to me. How they just straight up removed their defining move with nothing in return
It's like removing rest from Jigglypuff or shine from Fox, what the hell was going on in their mind
It's honestly the single thing I'm saltiest about
They butchered a lot of characters that people spent a lot of hours grinding and learning the mechanics
One of the biggest issues I'm running into is lag and desync issues on console, it's making the game basically unplayable. Most matches feel like they're being played on 100+ ping and sometimes I can't even get through a set in private custom games without a desync forcing us back to the main menu. The slower pace is rough, but I could get over that and "heehoo funny party fighting game" if I was able to actually play it.
Same. And what’s up with toasts UI not showing up most of the time? Or players spawning with previous game’s damage values? And seems like the game tries to start before assets loaded and thus everyone is pausing and teleporting? This game is not optimized well for consoles I guess. Real bummer.
@@josephrodriguez59I've even see gray health in the next match lol
I didn't really think about how the transition to the new engine was gonna hurt them until you mentioned it like I feel like that the reason why we lost some of the quality of life stuff from the beta
Not being able to at least try characters out in training before you buy them is inexcusable. Have them all playable in local play or at least training mode. It's a crossover fighter, the characters are the main draw. To have them all locked behind hours of grinding is a great way to lose the entire casual playerbase. I don't want to grind characters I don't like just to get one I might potentially like.
That ad felt like a fever dream. Seeing Coney just mention Azur Lane gave me whiplash.
Just give the characters a vulnerable airdash or something with meter resource, make dodges like traditional smash bros rolls/airdodges. They tripled down on removing all the movement in the game with making character speeds slower, making dodges how they are now, and increasing the size of everyone in regards to stages. (on top of that everyone's moves raw kill really early)
There's less requirements for a kill combo in this release version, like they slowed everything then gave moves more hitstun and knockback growth to compensate for Beta speed being the reason combos connected.
Dodges were what gave the Beta great movement for everyone, the problem was they were invulnerable.
They could have cooked up a platform fighter with anime fighter dashes or something.
Yet they took out so much that gave MVS some gameplay personality and added little to alleviate the losses. The BETA was a BETA, not an alpha build. I don't understand why they went this approach to change the game's whole gameplay, what they had was GOOD and needed a touch up.
And they switched to an entire new system for the game for bullshit reasons
Harley quinn , joker, bugs bunny and wonder woman completely outclass the rest of the roster in such a way that its not even fun to play.
banana guard too and low key jason, but i think thats cuz he’s only been out for less than a week so ill give it time to figure out how to avoid hit boxes and stuff but god damn does he hit like a truck
@@a_person172Jason is ass, way too slow to do anything
@@a_person172 banana guard is ok, Jason is F tier( easy combo food). Wonder Woman and iron giant( has an infinite) are the best.
@XXSteel I main Jason. I wouldn't say he's F tier. Middle of the road is more suitable for him. His only issues are being big (combo food as you said) and having slow attacking options (the majority of the roster can outmash him). If they buff his attack speed, he will be improved significantly!
Nah Harley is buns now. They removed her area denial tool and replaced it with an inferior trap that floats upward and only has value if your opponent gives you 50 sec to set it up.
Her bomb is dead, takes 1.5 sec to prep it and is the slowest traveling projectile in the game making it irrelevant in any decent comp match. Her smooth moves, which was why she was borderline uncontested in most exchanges, uses up your dodge meter and can put you in burnout hella quick if you try to capitalize on punishes.
Her buttons are great but with the slower speed of the game alongside the nerf to dodge jump and instant air dashes she falls short on opening her opponent in 1s but could seem like a scrub killer like Jason, Tom and Jerry, and Finn
1:35 The smoke on the Batcave stage works the same as Batman's smoke bomb btw. It's a projectile shield that makes you invisible if you stand still. That's why Velma couldn't hit Shaggy in this clip lol, almost all her attacks are projectiles.
It was the same in the beta too, but I don't blame anyone for not knowing. I only know because I was a Batman main in the beta.
Live service just doesn’t work for fighting games. The game feels very corporate compared to pre hiatus
Awful conclusion to draw from this
@@chopman5152i speak truths, fellow commenter
Brawlhalla exist. Say what you want about gameplay, but they only really ask you to pay for cosmetics. And at the very least, you get currency to buy other characters when playing in matches.
The only stuff i get from Multiversus is perk points and it's not even from the matches themselves
@@DrMDC idk how to break it to you that most fighting games are live service now. they're just not f2p. they have frequent content updates, patches, new characters, new cosmetics to buy, battle passes, login bonuses, etc.
True tho considering smash or NASB have the at least as many characters and all but a few dlc ones are completely free I calculated and to buy everything in the shop in Multiverses it is 500+
They did it to Superman too, his up special was a command throw with which he could throw the opponent any direction. It used to be one of the most satisfying moves to land, but now you can't throw vertically anymore.
The removal of the training room and the music that welcomed you into it just represents how many totally unjustified and cold hearted changes were made
There is something so entertaining about Coney doing an ad read, knowing that he's very aware of how people look when doing one. Everytime one happens I just can't stop thinking about how he must know, about how silly he must feel as he enthusiastically pitches us World of Warships.
as always though, we always chase a bag o7
that was the tuffest ad transition i've ever seen. streamer guy actually gained consciousness
Velma really made my opponents feel like they had no options and walk off the edge and go next so I see why they removed her
Im also mad that so much just got removed for no reason. Worse Training Mode, I can't switch Characters between rounds, there are no statistics at the end of a round, no Character ranking or ranked mode in generell (yet), the game liturally crashes many times (at least that is what ive experienced) and i get kicked out because my opponent desynced from the match? Thats so dumb! Also where did free for all go (not that i would care about it, but still)? Feels like Overwatch 2, the old games got replaced for a worse game (for now)
Agreed
I still cant believe people were gaslit into thinking the game only was slowed down "to showcase character moves" nad it will be faster on release
And when they showed off the netcode and it also had slowed down gameplay people were still coping
Lmfao I was one of those people lol
I really want this game to do well, it has so much potential. But it almost feels like the game is trying to run a marathon in full plate armor. I believe it has the capacity to be an amazing game, but there is just so much holding it back
The Velma butchering was just undeserved. The only fun thing about her (calling the cops and sniping people with the megaphone) was just turned to ass. Like I love Velma she was my main but I feel like her kit is just useless in actual fights
Really well thought out video, hope the devs give this one a listen!
I pretty much think the exact things you do on this, Coney. I have hopes that the devs can fix a lot of these things, but my fear is that they won't do it fast enough. When a game has a rocky launch, players drop it and don't come back, and it leaves the game with a forever bad reputation, despite the devs fixing it up down the line (like Battlefront 2). Fingers crossed they fix most of these glaring issues before most players drop the game because of these issues, I want this game to succeed.
I love playing the game. But all the small things that feel underdeveloped make it tough to play for long periods of time. Also all of the things they removed is insane
What you described about Velma is exactly what happened to me with Taz, I played the character because the tornado was fun and they fucking destroyed it and get this having no other character I was really interested in I decided to go the classic looney tune Bugs Bunny and then he drew in everyone’s ire. I just don’t want to take time to learn a character in a game that has such dramatic shifts in balance like this. Practice with a good and fun character one day and the next the character is flaming garbage.
Its so rough.. I put 100s of hours into the beta, I hate this after 3 days.
I think one of the things that has affected me the most about the re-release is the lack of keyboard support and settings, there are several settings that just got dropped from the game that seem to be more in favor of casual play and keyboard support has completely gone out the window. Everything about playing on a keyboard has gotten worse especially the movement. Input buffer you can't change is really bad too.
It's so tough. I really wanted to play MvS again, but everyone I talk to agrees that it's the movement that's killing it for them. All of these changes would've been alright with the old or slightly faster movement speed. The fact that they kneecapped decent characters and then left the best ones alone means the best characters now stomp lower skilled players and dominates regardless at the upper echelon. There's not much you can do as a heavier character against BB or WW, you can't dodge away because you barely move when you dodge and dodging as a mechanic now feels basically useless. I hope they turn the game around, I don't think another year hiatus can save it this time.
It's not the speed it the delay it just feels of i do think that increasing the speed slightly will help but the really need to make the more reactive when i first played mvs 2 it was like my character was listening to my inputs and thinking about it before they did it
As someone who has literally never played a smash-like game before, the slower speed allows me to actually try and play it without feeling like I'm smashing my head into a brick wall of people who have played those games for years. That said, I don't think it'd be bad if it was a bit faster, yes.
Dropping Multiversus for World of Warships because Velma sucks!
I remember reading how they were rebuilding the game in UE and thinking "uh-oh", but I think the devs will get this game uh, back up to speed.
In the meantime, us Lebron mains are eating.
I don't see WB letting the game be player focused enough monetization wise to draw players back. I don't see WB letting the devs focus more on making the game on what players want over pumping out more things to make the game money. Regardless of what the devs want to do, or how talented they are, or what their intentions are, I have absolutely NO faith that WB as a publisher will let this game be the shining gem of a platform fighter that it has the potential to be. As cynical as this sounds I really think the primary focus for the devs will be on monetization and revenue growth purely because this is what WB as a publisher will force the devs to do. Suicide Squad is on life support and rocksteady has done nothing to make the game more appealing to players and I fully believe this is due to WB. I truly, truly hope I'm wrong. But WB has proven to be nothing but greedy and incompetent as a publisher. I feel horrible for the devs to be in this position with this publisher. Like I said, I really hope I'm wrong and this game makes a stellar comeback and kicks ass, but because of WB I have little to no faith.
The buffer is really the worst thing to me, I was wondering why I kept misinputting things- because I'm the type of player who hits a button REAL fast when I want to do something, I spam it, then when it comes out, I use the next move the same way, it's just a habit I have, but it doesn't usually affect me. It DOES in Multiversus though, I'll find that I'm stuck on the ground trying to jump and F-air after using a strong attack but instead of that happening, my jump is eaten up by input delay and instead my jab comes out. Like I get that it's a problem with the way I hit my buttons, but I feel like it's not a problem that should be had in the first place.
coney is reliving the pain that bedman mains went through in xrd when 6h was removed
This game doesn't respect my time or money. It also doesn't seem to have much to offer beyond character recognition. It's not as fun as Smash casually due to its prohibitivly expensive roster, and lacks competitive value. I think I'll play something else.
the issue with the guest rotation is that it doesnt match with the battle pass weekly missions, so it might become impossible to complete the battle pass even if you played everyday
Same thing is happening to me with Finn. My entire hype for the game got butchered because they took his gem away. It was the most fun part of his character in my opinion. But the kicker is that they replaced it with some dumb backpack down air thing that sucks 😭. Just feels like a different character
He was so disappointed in the game he picked up the cigarette again, that's so sad Coney
5:38 😂😂😂 no retry button facts, no settings, no quit button 😂😂😂😂
It's been an interesting time watching this on the outside. I never got around to playing MultiVersus' open beta and hearing everything I am hearing isn't making me interested in playing the full release, but it has been interesting to see everything unfold. Genuinely, I hope this game can fix the bigger issues quick, since like most fighting games, that drop off moment will happen and at that point you're just stuck with the people that really tryhard these games and that makes entering as a casual absolute hell.
This is the only game that got anti-development
that was the funniest sponsor segway i have seen literally ever holy shit. ive never been brought to genuine laughter by a sponsor segment before
One of my biggest complaints in the beta was the characters were super small, they needed to be bigger but that doesnt mean they ahouldve made it slower, they can have bigger characters and keep the faster speed, heck they couldve just zoomed the camera in.
Seeing the back to back comparison of the game is fucking insane, holy shit.
I'm the person who said "I wouldn't call it slow, just deliberate" during the day 1 stream, and I took that back as SOON as it finished downloading and I got to feel it for myself
I mean it took Smash like two games for them to win over a lot of older fans with Smash Ultimate’s game speed. I feel like they waaaay over adjusted the game fundamentally. It should’ve been just a slight change if anything, and they could’ve tried changing other things to lower the barrier for casuals, i.e. the speed/lag of moves, cancel windows, adding endlag to movement techniques, a heat system, idk.
5:14 I find it weird people complain about needing a reason to play. Do you not like the gameplay?
no
I talked about it onstream, mighta got cut cuz of rush
Lots of fun + no progression = ok
Decent fun + progression = ok
Decent fun + no progression = bored fast
@@CONEYZZ Fair
I agree that it needs to be faster, but not for the sake of fast is fun. If a fighting game is to have a long lifespan, it needs to have a skill ceiling. As it stands, because everything is slower everyone can react to everything so the player with the bigger moves and better options is always rewarded more. I love the flow and combos and the meter system, but for me it's just a little too slow. I hope they speed it up a bit, but until then I will continue to deny the "Marvin is bad" allegations as I set up a 0-60 combo with a frame trap that kills.
Tbh, i think 1v1s are god awful, but I just played 2v2s with a friend, and it makes it so much more fun, didnt make me love the game but it made me enjoy it
My biggest issue with Multiversus is that the buffer makes the game feel sticky. Buffer made the new gen smash games feel the same way for me. I'm used to pressing a button and having the input come out. A lot of the time in Multiversus I'll try to jump and forward air and somehow end up on the ground. Sometimes when I'm wall sliding trying to get back onto the stage I swear it feels like the game is fighting against me jumping back up. It's just so weird. I never felt that way in the beta.
Multiversus is the only video game I’ve ever installed where I had any of my desire/hype/sheer interest instantly quelled within 3 minutes of looking at the menus. Speedrun world record.
Nailed it in the coffin.
Genuinely all I thought the characters needed in the Beta was more whiff recovery attuning and we'd be in a better spot. Parry might have made it better too
But a lot of the changes they went with are crazy overboard.
Always remember y'all you can speak your mind to devs via steam review, I said a lot of what coney said before even watching this in my own.
Something that wasn't even covered here is the hurtbox changes, character hurtboxes are more accurate than before, the cylinders being mostly gone. This is kind of a bad thing though because this isn't some immersive experience, it's a fighting game. The problem this presents is that when characters enter hitstun they might just fall out because their hurtbox is so accurate that when they get hit, they shift it completely, creating combo inconsistency across the cast.
Exactly
I hope this game does well eventually but man it really feels like this game was sent out to die. Like the devs were given an ultimatum by WB to either release the game now or never have it release. That is the only way I can rationalize why you would launch a game in this state.
Personally, looking at higher level players the movement isnt that slow.
I legit only have 3 main problems with gameplay, the progression is whatever for me because i mean it could be fixed after.
1. The input buffer is egregious
2.. The hitboxes are ridiculous, i understand its supposed to be a cartoony fighter but stuff like banana man grounded side B having a hit box the size of his character and having more prio than most moves while jason is the size of a commercial fridge and holds a machete but his hitboxes feel like he has a small dagger with tons of startup really makes me not want to play.
3. And i cant tell if this is a thing and im just not noticing but i really feel like there should be some kind of chase dodge after you get a hit that carries momentum. As in i feel like if i get a read while im playing jason they go further than me with their dodge and i just cant catch them.( This could 100% just be me being bad or a mixture or a mixture of the first two problems though).
After that i'd just want ranked because im a grinder but doom grinding for your battle pass to barely move just to get a few mid skins and maybe one good one is quite unfun.
imo on the character thing - if they wanna keep the grind this bad, then make characters a reasonable price. ten dollars for a multiversus character is insane. if they wanna keep em at ten bucks, then make them easier to get for free. still scummy and immoral imo to offer characters at that price at all, but at least it'd make the game more fun
a platform fighter lives and breathes on its characters and half of the things on offer are skins for characters that you probably don't even own. they tried to double dip and i think that's going to hurt them badly in the long run, cuz most people will just say no thanks and stop playing the game
Used the love this game and was top 750 with LeBron and Top 1K with Stripe and had 250 hours in the beta so I’d like to say my opinion does have some merit. But while I like the game and tbh haven’t really noticed the speed that much, I always find myself getting really tired after an hour or two session. The game is a lot more explosive now which is probably why banana guard is fucking cracked and while that can be fun, it feels kind of BS to me that jason up air can literally kill at 60% sometimes (but that might be bc he’s only been out a couple days and we need to learn the matchup). I also really wished that ranked mode would be available on launch or that there was a leaderboard like in beta, it feels super casual and stages like the Powderpuff girls one get in the way of battle and i’ll just die or kill ppl bc of stupid stage gimmicks. The game definitely feels more targeted towards casuals and while that’s fine, compared to the beta, ppl who actually want to compete are just kinda left with nothing to achieve?
Same, bro. They slaughtered my girl Velma. Was ready to play and it killed me joy.
Lots to complain about with Nintendo and Smash but I haven't seen anyone come even close to their consistent quality and polish
Played against a Morty last night with the absolute most busted combo ive seen in the game so far. He just spammed it constantly and theres no way around it if youre playing a melee character. There is NO getting close to him, it made me more mad than ive been in years on any video game and it needs to be nerfed into the ground
Better change that to (FOREVER)
I’ve seen similar sentiments repeated in others’ takes on the official launch, and just…damn, dude.
I was pretty optimistic about the official launch, really impressed with the new characters and all, but to see them fumble a lot of things that the year-long beta got right, change fundamental aspects of the game for the worse, and lose a lot of goodwill from the playerbase is super disappointing.
I just cant understand the point about the current progression for unlocking characters being not that bad. I will never support game changing features being locked behind either a paywall or a 40+ hour grind, regardless of the game is f2p or a paid game. I shorter grind to unlock the characters (maybe like 2 hours) and then allocate more time in order to grind cosmetics, such as skins, emotes, etc. would be a way better system. It feels like more of a win win in that scenario especially since a new character is another thing for a player to use that may hook them into the game for longer. I'm not gonna play a character like Shaggy for 40 hours if I don't like them just so I can potentially unlock a character I will like. Just 2 hours to unlock the whole cast of 28(?) characters currently is still 58 hours total which is a lot of time to invest into a game to just get started (and that's not including any future characters they WILL add). Otherwise youre asking for close to one thousand hours which is ridiculous.
Also, while it is true that most players will gravite towards a handful of characters, that doesn't mean players don't like to experiment or that their first "main" is the only main they've ever had. Training mode also wouldn't cut it for me bc having a feel for what moves do =/= actually using them in a real game. i myself in ult only found my current main after having 8 other "mains" over the course of 5 years and I still enjoy playing most of the cast for casual fun.
As someone else pointed out as well, I didn't come here to play the batman platforming game where I only play batman for example, I'd play the game bc its the game where I can punch Lebron in the face as batman one game and in the next game get my jason curbstomped by bugs bunny.
They honestly shouldnt have gotten rid of the decrease dmg value for using the same move constantly. The amount of people who throw the same move out nonstop cause they know it cant be punished easily is absurd
Batman is completely ruined. Beta Batman was so fun with the speed of his glide, fast fall cancel, fast fall into dair. Now batmans fast fall is literally slower than normal falling in almost every smash like even with light weight characters. Also batman cant the second hit of his forward air without landing the first hit now which fucks up his mix up game.
Man, Marvin the Martion got it worst, they took away 2 defining moves, not just one wtf. Marvin's laser is very short and only last 1 sec and doesn't kill any more, wtf, not only that, his projectiles are shorter range, so basically Marvin is useless
I've played since the alpha build of the game but i'm not satisfied on the current status it's in. It's got some really good ideas from the character movesets, banners, interactions, it's what drew me in the first place. I just feel like they're so so close to a perfect middle ground with the game and I'm just hoping they push it into that perfect area of fast but not overwhelming. I don't want a game where I'm a fly swatting around dodging attacks but I don't want a game where I'm moving through melissas. I got faith in the team, they've fixed issues and problems that people had before in the past, and I'm sure they can do it again.
