The thing with friendships, is that they are a second chance at life. When family fails you, when partners fail you, when idols fail you, when fake friends fail you, when you fail yourself... when you raise back up with your spirit full of desire to thrive, and you become healthy enough to see the signs, to see the toxicity, to see the harm... it is a soul destroying process. It destroys paradigms, it destroys false thoughts, it destroys limiting walls... and leaves room for a fresh start, raw, from scratch, and then that's your chance to build the life you know you deserve and only keep in it those who are bringing something to the table. It can even be people who failed you before, but that now that you set boundaries and standards, are willing to try to keep up. There's also a thin line between forgiveness, humbleness and determination to move on and grow up. In other words, follow your higher level of consciousness, care for your heart, love yourself and be open to others good love, and everything else will follow and fall into place on its own.
You always provide such thoughtful commentary on here. Your wisdom and insight is sincerely appreciated. I think hearing a female give thoughtful analysis on a males video is a great validation process. Thank you for always taking time to share from your heart!

I am only in my early 20s but attended a young leader early career development course a few years ago whilst I was in college, I heard a saying that I will never forget, “Eagles fly with Eagles and Vultures fly with Vultures” that saying has stuck with me and has already guided me to surround myself with the right type of people in life

You're literally in between two extremes (friends). You're realistic, an ideal role model! I'm sure your old friend is full of wisdom. I gravitate to older people myself. it's something special about the elderly for me, kind of hard to put into words.

My childhood best friend has gone through this terrible drinking and drug phase and I’ve done as much as I can to help him out but the best thing I did was just do my own thing and they tend to follow you when they are alone in their muck. I love the dude I wouldn’t just leave him in the dust but I know he will be back from this. Still sad tho
Bless you for sticking around. Hang in there. Don't close the door on him. Addiction, is so, so hard. Make your boundaries and standards clear to him. Make sure he understands how immensely much you love him and want to see him thrive. And tell him that when he feels ready (even if for just a mere moment) hit you up immediately because you'll be there to have his back and guide him to a better track. Sometimes we expect friends to value us, but this is too much to ask when they don't value their own life, so be patient with him and only give whatever you are willing to lose, in case they let you down.
@@jhoanabastetYea thank you for your comment. That’s what it’s come to. I’ve encouraged him to pick up hobbies like playing guitar with me and stuff. I’ll always be there for him but there’s certain situations he will put me in that are unsafe so I make it clear that’s not gonna happen.
