  • Shout out to the pandemic for getting me into trail running! Some of the best running in Los Angeles that I have done has been on the trails and in the mountains surrounding LA. In this video, I'll take you through my favorite trail runs that I did in 2020, how to get to them, and how difficult they were!

    Part of what I've enjoyed about trail running in Los Angeles is that it is so incredibly varied. You can go from desert like conditions to an alpine wonderland in the course of one run. Trail running is such a great way to get out in nature and still get your workout or running fix for the day. Yes, it takes a lot longer to get to your workout, but it's worth it at least once a week!

    Anybody have any good routes that I missed?

      I found your video because I'm just getting into trail running, so keep in mind I'm a beginner. That said, Debs park is nearby me and has a nice little network of trails. Elesyian park also. I've done work in Kenneth Hahn park; looks like a good place to run. Haven't been to Eaton canyon yet, but it's been highly recommended.

      @@31109b yeah Eaton is great! I just found Elysian after I did this video and I absolutely love it. Incredible city views there!

      Hello Scott, I am more of a hiker/backpacker that has started to get into trail running and ultralight backpacking in the LA area. I have started to record my routes on AllTrails. Let me see if I can share some here.

      The Verdugo Mountains and the San Rafael Hills. Lots of vertical, good views. You could even link them and make it a 26.2 mile loop.

    How safe it is for a solo runner to run on any of those trails? I am really digging these trails!

    • @scottnickley3605
      @scottnickley3605  Рік тому +1

      Hey Francine! Other than the precautions you should take as a solo runner (GPS comms device mainly) the only one I'd use an abundance of caution on is Mt. Islip, especially on a high snow pack year. It's pretty easy to lose the trail, and can get dangerous with snow on the route.
