In this video my daughter and I discuss the Barbie movie and Oppenheimer while doing some writing samples with a selection of inks inspired by those two movies.

I cannot tell you two how very much I enjoyed this! Congratulations Mom on rearing such an intelligent and articulate daughter. I hope we have more such duets. There are some good non-fiction videos about Oppenheimer here on You Tube - History Channel, BBC, etc.
Ironically (or there is no such thing as coincidence), I am reading The Greatest Generation and just last night I read the piece that described our government's knowledge right before we dropped the bomb that Japan was ready to sue for peace, but dropped it anyway. After the fact, it was said that they didn't realize the massive and complete devastation that it would cause. Also, it would now prevent future atomic wars and use of the atomic bomb. And of course we nuked ourselves in the testing process.
I digress, but just wanted to let you both know how great this was.

Thank you, Donna! My husband and I encouraged our girls, from a young age, to think about things critically, and we're blessed that those lessons stuck with them. As we were filming this video, I too was impressed by my daughter's ability to articulate her thoughts. She's one of the few people I know that is able to discuss touchy topics in a civil manner, and she stays well informed about a variety of topics, so feel like I learn a lot from any discussion I have with her. We also had a blast with this project, and I hope we can do more. 😀

Movie reviews! Fabulous. You make a great team. More, please.
P.S. Is Noodler's Black amazingly waterproof or what?

Thanks Ichiro! We both had a blast with this project. You're right, Noodler's Black is amazing, and I was reminded of how much I like Black Swan in Australian Roses. I need to get it in a pen soon.

Thanks, Dash! I enjoyed spending time with my daughter and the discussions that followed more than the movies themselves. 😀

Thanks for the review. Despite your negative comments, I can't wait to see the Barbie movie for myself!!! I never played with Barbies as a child, but I love the idea that this movie contains several important messages. I appreciate your point about the ideal, balanced world. But after seeing how the patriarchy functions in the real world, would it really make sense for Barbie and her cohorts to blithely accept men into positions of power? Maybe someday seems the right answer to me. Maybe after they stop raping and exploiting them all around the world.

It contains messages straight from hell, none of which are even remotely accurate.

Yeah, it's a touchy topic for people because we come from a variety of backgrounds with such different experiences and on top of that we're discussing a fictional culture made up of dolls.

For me, that was the worst, crappiest, downright stupid, inaccurate in every way, evil movie I have ever had the misfortune to sit through. It had zero redeemable qualities, and how anyone with moral character, even a little tiny bit of moral character, could like it is beyond me. But your milage m,ay very, of course.

I agree, James. I want to like biopic movies, but anytime a picture is made about a topic or person that I'm knowledgeable about, I'm usually disappointed. Usually it's because I feel like the movie is trying to manipulate me into feeling a way that is counter to how I actually feel. Therefore, I tend to prefer documentaries, but even they can be very subjective. I just want the facts and let me come to my own conclusion.

I re-read your comment and I'm not sure which movie you were talking about, but I was disappointed in both movies.
