      Oh, that's a great problem to have Faiz! More topics than not enough...My suggestion is to talk about ONE TOPIC per episode and spread the "few topic" ones into individual ones. Just go DEEPER into those topics individually! Good luck! 😉

      I recently recorded my first ever podcast and I think my biggest struggle is to keep up the same level of excitement in my voice as I go through the script xD (I also noticed that I need to make notes on when to pause and breathe cause otherwise the sentence structure is screwed up)

      Maybe each season you can focus on a different theme. Talk about that theme all season long. That way you’re sharing all of your various experiences as it pertains to your podcast mission/audience. Hope this helps.

    I’ve gone back and forth. I have a sports podcast that’s stat-heavy (niche audience, I know). I tried to wing my first episode, but I couldn’t keep the numbers straight. An outline worked ok, but I had to edit a lot of errors and that kind of thing. Around my 3rd or 4th episode, I went to a script and things got a lot smoother. I can still embellish/deviate because I’m not just straight reading, but it helped. Now that I have more reps under my belt and am more comfortable, I think I could go back to the outline as long as I have the numbers right at my disposal. I’ve started doing a video preview, but I’m not ready to do a full pod on camera yet, except for those cases where I do have a guest interview. That’s fine, as that’s a conversation. I feel totally comfortable in that scenario.

    This is a really helpful video- information that I didn't know I needed nor knew was out there. One of the areas I'm struggling with is that telling one experience about suicide loss (my podcast topic) doesn't always make sense without background info on another experience.
    I hate being a cringy creator who pushes the "give me attention if you want to hear more" crap. Because those creators never get another second of my time, ans I refuse to be that guy. I struggle to find balance in separating my episodes while still getting my points across.
    For example, one episode is about how it can be hard to move out of a home in which a loved one ended their life. But part of why it was hard for me was because that was the one place I'd called home... growing up, I was tossed from house to house. It wasn't until I lived with a friend that I went "This is what home is supposed to feel like." In that episode, I I want to touch on the feelings of leaving that loved one behind when we move, or the part of denial when we think "But they'll come back and not know where I went." That's one example of a topic that has important context info that's needed for listeners to understand my experience as well as being able to relate.

    • @KrystalProffitt
      @KrystalProffitt  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for all of the great insight into your podcast topic. There are a few ways to approach wanting to tell a story and keeping the context there, but first I'd like to ask some logistics questions about your show:
      - How long are your episodes now?
      - Are you doing this show solo?
      - Have you ever thought about setting up the episode as a series where you cover everything you'd like that pertains to the story, but break it up over multiple episodes? (For instance, Ep 1: cover the backstory, Ep 2: how to handle (or how you handled) the situation, and Ep 3: could be an episode where you answer questions from the audience.)
      Let me know if any of that is helpful, but please follow up if you have more questions! 🌟

    • @DearlyBecomingWithCoachNik
      @DearlyBecomingWithCoachNik 5 місяців тому

      Maybe you can do all of those things by breaking up the episode in a 3-4 part series. Each episode can focus on one part of the story and your listeners can tune in weekly for the remaining parts.

    My worst nightmare was cleaning audio. For a one-hour episode I needed some four to five hours of cleaning the same audio on Audacity. Evrything before and after that was perfectly fine. Adding music was fine. Writing the episode before taping was fun, too (I use Scrivener).
    Audio cleaning became something I dreaded, week in, week out. Ultimately, it did me in.

    Working on the uhhs lol but I do that in life always talking also. So retraining myself to concentrate on that one thing and lessen and lessen it each episode.noones perfect but sports audiences want to hear opinions that aren't rehearsed.its more entertaining to go on the occasional tangent about a game or player that's driving the fans nuts. They relate and are like" hell yes I think that same thing in my head". It's important to sports fans no matter what teams, or bets they love and make,to feel they are not losing their minds and afraid to give the opinions they have. Best part about sports is the comradeship we have about the topic,and how we can banter and exchange knowledge and perspectives even know we root for different teams,or bet opposite ways. I have a slogan that makes everyone come together and that is " Let's beat the Books" meaning I want everyone to win their wagers vs sportsbooks and casino sports books and win money. Everyone . Let's combine knowledge from the stats and views and picks I give out, and all win money vs the Books. It's a common goal for all bettors and fantasy players as well

      Hi Kylie! What you’re experiencing sounds totally normal. I think most new podcasters go through a version of not liking their very first audio clip.
      My advice is to just hit record and start talking - with the idea that you DO NOT have to publish anything until it sounds decent. Not great. Not perfect. Just decent. Because none of us - not even me - sound AMAZING on our very first recording.
      If it helps, you can script out what you want to say and read it - verbatim - until you record a clip you like. I know many podcasters who do this (some for MANY of their episodes) until they feel comfortable going off a more loose outline.
      I hope that helps. 😊

      Hey CJ, Glad you found the video helpful! As far as a podcast that covers several topics, it depends on if those topics fall under one main category. For example: fly fishing, camping, and mountain climbing might all fall under the category of "outdoor living". But topics like: fishing, bowling, and cooking might not make sense to talk about on one podcast as their isn't really a common theme.
