    Great video! I also prefer to use sudsing sulfate free shampoos regularly to remove scalp buildup. This year I discovered how awesome Aveda's shampoos are. Their Invati, Nutriplenish, and Botanical Repair shampoos are sulfate free and work like a dream. I actually love their sulfate shampoos as well (especially Cherry Almond and Sap Moss). Their formulations are top notch! They feel really gentle on the hair. I know they are expensive, but I live in Asia and they are the *only* curly friendly products I can get in store.

    I've been using the Curl Talk line since the Devacurl scandal in early 2020, and while it's a great line, I do find I get noticeable buildup even after one or two wash days without clarifying. What level of cleanser would you recommend for someone who uses the NYM line? Is the Carol's Daughter shampoo enough, or is something stronger like the Bounce Curl Clarifying Shampoo necessary to get those ploy-quats out?
    Also would you be interested in doing a Noughty line review? I would really like to use lightweight, natural products that wash right out of my hair but I'm not sure where to start. Thanks again for another really informative video!!

      Glad it was helpful! I can definitely review more of the Noughty stuff. I like their curl cream a lot.
      I think the Not Your Mother's shampoo should remove the polyquats because the ingredients are able to remove silicones and hard water build-up, which are strong. Plus they usually formulate entire lines to work together so I would hope it removes the stylers.

    The hair on my head started falling out significantly following a very stressful time in my life. So, I researched the net & chose to try a hair oil called litttleextra coocoonion & neem wood comb. It really really worked. At present, my hair is lengthy, thick, black hair which has reached my waist & cut off three times after I began using it. Easy and effective. Additionally, equally good is massaging your scalp - it stimulates the growth. You just have to do this once a week. Pretty soon, you'll see new hair starting to grow.

      I don't think it would be, because they're lower on the ingredient list. I'm not sure if the Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract is a protein but the keratin amino acids is (low on the list). The TreLuxe shampoo & leave-in also would be great because they have very small proteins low on the list. The shampoo is very mild with low lather, and the conditioner is amazing because it can be used a leave-in: bit.ly/TLShampoo bit.ly/TLLeaveIn

      I've tried it and it was too much for me at the beginning. I have very fine, thin, low density, low porosity hair. But I know a lot of people like it. I have heard others with my hair type have some issues too. Everyone is different! Maybe I'll try just the conditioner again instead of both. I just struggle so much to find any protein I don't react poorly too. SM JBCO and SM Yogurt and Manuka Honey DCs have been the only exception.

      @@GenaMarie I just bought the curl smith in shower style fixer because I know it’s supposed to be really strong hold. I’m wondering if this is a sign that my hair need moisture or protein? Or maybe my hair is just going through a change? Thanks for responding to me!

    I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and feel like I have gained a lot of hair knowledge. But I feel like I spent a lot of money on products that are just leaving my scalp, especially the crown of my head, really tacky and oily feeling with dry ends. Even when I used the clarifying mane shampoo and conditioner and apple cider vinegar rinse my hair just felt dry and lifeless after and the denman brush literally makes my hair flat no matter what angle I brush it at. It’s just frustrating because I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

    • @cvma2430
      @cvma2430 3 роки тому

      I think you should figure out if you have any sensitivity to protein (of course if you don't already know) and check the products that you are using. You may also be experiencing some overload, moisture or protein. Do you deep condition?

    • @nicoleschalk4597
      @nicoleschalk4597 3 роки тому

      @@cvma2430 That’s a good idea, I’ll have to check when I get home. I’ve only ever deep conditioned a few times because anytime I do it takes forever to dry and clumps my hair together. I used to only use Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 because it made me feel clean but I wasn’t getting volume all day and I know I’m not supposed to use it every time I wash my hair. So I don’t know if I really just need to push through it with these products or what to do.

    I'm confused. For example, you mark NYM Curl Talk as NOT able to remove hard water buildup...but I thought chelating ingredients do remove hard water buildup? Disodium EDTA is in that shampoo.
    Can you explain?

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  3 роки тому

      I totally missed that! I am so sorry! ❤️ After reading dozens of ingredients list and researching for hours it's easy to overlook since it's at the very end of the list, especially since on the Ulta site it's written in lowercase and I was looking for EDTA. Thank you for letting me know! I will adjust the chart on my blog 😊
      The only thing is it's low on the ingredients list, so not sure the concentration of it and if it's effective at removing hard water. Other shampoos that are created for hard water build-up have those ingredients first on the list.

    • @disneyknitter9189
      @disneyknitter9189 3 роки тому +1

      @SalyX, it does have a small amount of Disodium EDTA in the shampoo, it's just at the lower part of the list, meaning its a smaller amount then some true chelating shampoos. But I'll just say in my personal experience, according to the government map, I have heart water, and I personally don't cowash, but only use low poos and I've not noticed any buildup that requires more, but thats me. I've also used Love Beauty Planet shampoo as one with chelating ingredients, same, low on the list.

      @SalyX I’ve heard good things from people who’ve done the shower head thing. If your water is obviously very hard, NYM may not be enough. For me, I didn’t know I had hard water until I checked the map for my address. I think they recommend the Malibu one for hard water.
