i saw this a while ago and glad to say that this is my go to move now, the knee up sitting position seems to always be there, sometimes not at first but eventually. thanks for the technique!

Exactly what I was looking for. I've been failing in this progression against higher level opponents who pass from a solid combat base. Looks like I've been using wrong pressure do to inaccurate grips. Back to the lab to work this out, but this solves that for me it think. Very very good video sir. Thanks for sharing.

I dont understand why someone would leave such a big gap in their leg in their combat base. How would i force them to make that gap if it was closed?

You can force it or you can wait. Remember, a combat base with no gaps means your opponent has no mobility, he can't pass your guard if he is super defensive with a tight combat base (butt sitting on heels). In order to pass, he will have to move, and that will give you enough space for your DLR hook.
You can also try to force it, by pushing the bottom knee, as I explained at 2:30 in the video.
3rd option: if you can't get your DLR hook and your opponent just sits there not trying to pass, probably it's not the time to play your DLR guard, so you would have to transition to something else, maybe a lasso guard or ankle pick, whatever is available to you.

Ok, thanks man, i appreciate it. Ill have to try that out today or sometime this week. Ive been wondering how to improve my guard when my opponent is standing and im not, so i hope this will help. Keep up the videos, i like them.
