  • The marbled salamander is an adorable species of mole salamander found in a variety of habitats across the Eastern US. In this video, you will learn about what makes these animals so special to ecosystems and scientists!

    If you've made it this far in the description, remember to be safe when creature adventuring! Most wild animals can cause injury if harassed, and I do not recommend attempting to capture any creatures without purpose and practice. The reason that I interact with wildlife is to produce these educational videos, and I am confident in my abilities to handle creatures such as a marbled salamander because I have years of zoology experience under my belt. Also, I always ask permission from a land owner before exploring on their property, and you should do the same.
    Keep adventuring everywhere, and keep your adventures safe at all times!

    Hello, animal adventurers! Thanks for checking out today's episode of The Wild Report. Last week, the marbled salamander episode got more votes from you than the crayfish, so you can expect a video on those little crustaceans coming next Saturday.
    As summer draws nearer and I finish up my AP exams, I'll have much more time to explore and edit my videos. I look forward to seeing how you guys like these upcoming episodes!
    Let me know in the comments if there are any animals you would really like to see me film this summer. I'll do my best to make it happen!

    We are in NC too! Found a marbled salamander yesterday under a log! I have 3 boys and we are glad we found you. My oldest was excited to hear you are in NC. He is wanting to start his own channel. Thank you for being a great inspiration and role model.

    Awesome video. We just found one here in CT near some wetlands and started researching them. Marbled Salamanders actually breed in the fall, as opposed to a lot of other species that do so in the spring. The juveniles will eat the eggs and larvae of other salamanders that breed during the spring. 😳😬 These are considered ‘Keystone Predators’

      Thank you! Yeah they are really neat, especially the early breeding giving them a competitive advantage part.

      They are gorgeous animals, but very sensitive. I always make sure that they are comfortable and nice and moist so we can keep theses beautiful animals on the planet!

    I've been there before! And those salamanders are adorable! The woods at my house have a small creek, and tend to get a bit of rain so I've seen a few salamanders, I used to look for them when I was little :D I've never found a marbled one though!

      That's awesome! The marbled salamanders are found under logs more than in creeks. Happy exploring!

    Salamanders are so cool! I seem to find more of them in the piedmont than in the coastal plains, but it might just be the areas Im looking in.

      I find more in the piedmont as well, but they are EVERYWHERE in the mountains by streams.

    Actually A.opacum breed in the fall not spring. They lay eggs in dry Vernal ponds that fill with the fall rains. The mother will stay with the eggs till they are covered in water. Some hatch in the fall and some will hatch in the spring.

    • @TheWildReportOfficial
      @TheWildReportOfficial  Рік тому

      I think it depends on the location, ours seem to breed at the tail end of fall so that the eggs hatch in the winter rains!
