Also, if you're in the area, i suggest going to a store in the middle of the daiso and the bookstore. Little Toykyo, its called. They have cute figurines, stationary, plushies and household items etc.

Times square has a Muji store which has pretty good Japanese stationery. There is also a Daiso in Queens and I'm pretty sure another part of NY? Daiso is a Japanese dollar store with cute stickers and pens for pretty cheap ($2 and up).
I'm pretty sure the daiso she went to is in Edgewater NJ, which is nearby the Kinokuniya book store which I'm pretty sure was the first Japanese bookstore she went to. There's another Kinokuniya bookstore in NY too if u can't go to NJ. There are more Daiso stores in queens too in Rego park mall and Flushing queens.
