Be smart and stay just outside of the Old City in Župa-dubrovačka. Great beaches, restaurants, shopping and only 15 minute bus ride to Dubrovnik. Places like Srebreno, Mlini, Brašina.are the real finds in Croatia!
This may be a stop on my next trip abroad. I am 60 & just had back surgery so I won't be carrying my suitcase anywhere. That being said, I am not sure why I would be wheeling it through the streets if I have a hotel or other accommodation.
There is no automobile access in Old Town. Everyone must carry their bags from the city gate to their hotel or apartment, or pay someone else to do it.
Well you will loose lots of money because you will loose lots of tourist. Instead of banning the use of wheel suitcases they should have better streets with noise reductors.
we have enough wealthy tourists that are coming here for week and 2 weeks vacations. We dont nees one-two days tourists who sleeps on benches,drunken and dont soend money here.

My ancestors were living for hundreds of years in this area, but after Croat immigrants, I am avoiding city which we built
