I also appreciate how the Owl House tackles disability with Eda. Growing up with autism, I always hated that I had this issue that I couldn't control. It always made me outcasted. Just like Eda though, I learned to accept it and try to work through it. I hope other kids who go through similar struggles learn this from watching the show.

I also relate to Eda’s conflict with her mom about her potions that keep her from transforming into the owl beast, because it reminds me of how my mom doesn’t believe in my antidepressants and adhd medication that help me.
I think the best bait and switch this show did was Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door. Literally everybody thought it was going to be pointless filler but it ended with sooo many great character developments and even Lumity FINALLY happening
I actually started hating gay representation in shows due to how shallow and nonexistent they were in Legend of Korra, SVTFOE and especially that show we don’t talk about anymore but we know the one. So when I heard that people were shipping Lumity while I was enjoying the show I just assumed it a was bait tactic and they would never have the balls or brains to make a gay couple Canon, especially with the main character. And then Enchanting Grom Night happened and never was I so proud to be so wrong. Seriously, in less then 2 seasons they managed to make a healthy gay relationship between two main characters, and other shows can’t do that with a straight couple in 10 years?

Ahh I adore the owl house and I'm forever devastated I don't exist in the timeline where season 3 wasn't cut short. And as a weird gnc latina queer girl I cannot express how much I wish I had this show growing up. Luz is a lot like me personality wise and I love her tons. I have absorbed "gasp, snorses!" And "meowmeow!" Into my vocabulary forever
And like you said, having characters start dating halfway through and not going into annoying melodrama is my jammmm dana my beloved.
And don't even get me started on the themes, story, art, animation, characters, dark yet wholesome humor, attention to detail, etc. Ugh so good

It’s actually confirmed that Disney was responsible for the third season being like three specials instead of the 20 episodes. I’m surprised that you didn’t talk too much about Lilith and Dell. Either way, this show is an absolute masterpiece. I agree with you that Lumity is everything Bumblebee could’ve been and more.

Lumity, Eda and Raine, Hunter and Flapjack, Lilith and Hooty, King and Francois: So many different types of precious character dynamics in one super package. It'll be so sad to see it all end.
Hunter and Steve are babies to be protected.
The Owl House is just an amazing show all around. The rep is amazing, and I absolutely love it! Lumity is just so sweet and healthy and I'm glad Dana fought to put it in, and then is throwing it in Disney's face (which I also love).
But apart from the shipping, the story itself is so compelling and beautiful. The plot, lore, everything is extremely interesting and has got me at the edge of my seat multiple times. And it's also traumatized me 😭
Another detail I love about the show is the secret codes. Both the title codes, as well as the secret messages.
All in all, I'm mad at Disney for cancelling it, and to Dana and co, thank you!!!
(Oh, and I definitely recommend Amphibia. If you loved The Owl House, I know you're gonna love Amphibia too)

Honestly I’m so happy you’ve looked into this series, it always felt like something I thought you’d enjoy just by watching your videos on Winx, W.I.T.C.H., RWBY and your own book (which I’m reading now, finally got my hands on it 😅). So glad you like it!
@Jellyfnaf And Dino Rwby’s first 3 volumes where good, it was fun with hints of a darker aspect and amazing fight scenes (because of Monty Oum, the shows creator, may he Rest In Peace 😢), then it starts lowering in quality as it goes on because of corporate screwing and bad world building (nothing is ever stated directly, you can only find out about the world via extra videos and the like). It has its good moments and I’m gonna see it until the end, but probably not worth starting.
W.I.T.C.H. On the other hand is a fun ride, bit formulaic during the first season and very different from its graphic novel counterpart, but season 2 is AMAZING and well worth the effort to reach. Defiantly recommend giving it a shot.
I can relate to every character.
Luz compassion and also the Spanish part me glee. Also had that phase and still battling responsibility and childish, learning that I don’t need to give up.
I can relate to Eda curse with my own thing, Asburger Syndrome and thank to my friend I not only mange it but embrace.
I had my own Eda who taught me to embrace my own chaotic personality and my friends are my found family.
Eda talk is one I now live by and say to other when they are down.

Hooty is just something I didn’t expect to say and had friends just like him too. Gus trauma and breathing technique is something I learned.
The Twins, Willow, Rein and Ivy are fantastic. Everything in the show feel alive and change too.
But the characters I relate to is Hunter and Amity…
Looking at these two are remind me who I was and can be.
I cheer on for ships and love how it grew.
Also the latest episode had a Sun and Moon reference so… 10/10 show, I not only recommend but I’ll show too.

The Owl House has been a fun blast. The characters are charming, the world is fun and I love seeing the really good representation from the show. Everything about this show has been a joy. I wish we got a full third season.
Also to back up your point, gay children do exist! I realized I was gay when I was ten. Coming out might have taken awhile because of certain homophobic people in my family. But I knew I liked girls and kept it hidden for a long time. Not anymore though. :)

It's refreshing to see great shows with amazing representation that RWBY could only dream of. From the curse's metaphor for chronic/mental illness to the incredible, well-written representation. Raine, Lumity, then Lilith being aroace. I wish Disney hadn't cut it cause there's just so much to explore in the BI, the characters, the world, the demons.
I loved the palisman that was the goose with the bell. It makes me so sad it was only in one episode.
Amphibia actually just finished up, so if there's any time to get into it, that time is now. Just...be ready to steel your entire reserve for the Season 2 finale. That is all I will say about that.

I’m so glad you talked about this show (especially in this more loose format, you really sounded like you were having fun!), it’s one of my favorites in recent years! I find it very funny with great world building! It’s really sad we aren’t getting a full third season, but I’m optimistic that Dana and her team are gonna do great with the specials!
As I’ve also seen Amphibia, I can attest that it is indeed a great show. And as it’s recently wrapped up it’s series is a good time to go watch it.
My god it also has more than a few episodes that will mess you up.
Shame both that and Owle House got cut short. But I’m still grateful for what we got.

So happy you covered this show, it ranks in my top 10, maybe top 5 of all time! The latest episode makes the season 3 cancellation even worse, since we were apparently going to get a beach episode! They robbed us of seeing Eda in a swimsuit, their sins are unforgivable.

First and you should do a retrospective on DC Super hero girls(2019). It's actually really good and the relationship between Batgirl and Harley Quinn as they are best friends yet they don't know they're secret identities is just perfect.
I never watched it but I heard it has issues with its writing. It was also ranked #10 on Mr Enter's worst cartoons of the 2010s.

I love it when more people talk about Owl House! At first, I thought Lumity was a bit overrated like catradora, but finally watching it, I am blown away with how cute and healthy their relationship is!! I am really sick and tired of those overused cliches about jealousy or misunderstandings in every romcom or tv show with straight couples and am crying tears of joy of watching two dorky girls communicating what they're feeling, and not immediately expecting the other to know what's on their mind.
I've been hoping to see you cover the owl house for quite some time now. This did not disappoint! I only hope that some way the owl house is saved, either with disney changing it's mind of it moving to another platform, because it definitely deserves better than for what it got. #savetheowlhouse.

I finally gave it a chance on Disney+ and binged it all. Now I'm waiting for the last season, but unfortunately, it's only going to be about three 45-minute episodes.
I being hones: I am a White Straight Person and I Love Animes Manga and Cartoons etc. but After a while, it is boring to see characters with the same Skin Color in every series. This is probably the reason because characters like Scar from Fullmetal or Ogun from Fire force are my favorites characters, besides that they are good written. Luz or August are like the rest of the characters of the owl House well written and respect for the Writers.
And sometimes see Gay Pairing who i thought "This 2 have more Synergy than the rest of the Characters" and seen the relationship between Luz and Amity makes me feel Smile, because it makes sense and is not force!
Also the spell combat! Agony of a witch was so fucking raw, like eda was ready to kill to keep Luz safe. This show is not afraid to be brutal.
Idk if it would work with however contracts work but imagine ow blessed we'd be if another network and/or streaming service picked up the owl house and allowed it to embrace all the themes it wanted😭 an adult focused 'reboot' would be phenomenal

Amphibia is a great show and yes, has a tiny bit of representation in it but mostly in the last season. Oh, and bring tissues for the end, you know just grab yourself a whole box because it's that good. The Owl House is a great show, full of warm and lovable characters, characters you love to hate or just hate (like Odalia, Tibbles, Belos, and Kikimora for example. Lol) As of this post, I still wonder what Luz's palisman will be but whatever it turns out to be. It'll be awesome and fit Luz perfectly just like Amity.

I've never seen this show. I've heard good things about it but never actually watched it.
This video is probably going to change that.
This show was simply too intelligent compared to the waves of weird concept of the month sitcoms and Goldie & Bear knockoffs to be kept alive. Let's hope they give us something like Gravity Falls Lost Legends as compensation.

It's a good show so far. I would also recommend Disney's other shows Amphibia and Secrets of Sulphur Springs
I really do highly recommend Amphibia. The Owl House is my preferred show, but not by much. TOH is a bit more consistent in quality (And I vastly prefer the single 22 minute structure vs. two 11 minute segments.), and Amphibia is a bit slow in S1, but still good. And don't dismiss anything is filler, more than you think is important.
But at its best, Amphibia is on par with TOH at its best. And after S1 the two 11 minute segments become much better in terms of how they are woven together. They feel often more like an A and B plot, only cleanly separated instead of a single 22 minute episode. I will also also say this. I prefer S1 TOH over S1 Amphibia, but Amphibia's S1 finale is better than either Agony of a Witch or Young Blood, Old Souls. Not knocking them, they are fantastic. But Reunion absolutely is where Amphibia hits its stride, and shows what the show can do when it's a single 22 minute episode.

"Lumity is everything Bumblebee should've been and more" Exactly! It's beyond frustrating that this DISNEY show for children had an infinitely better written gay/bi relationship than an independent web show whose target audience is adults and older teens. Roosterteeth don't seem to understand that they don't have to abide by the oldschool rules of subtle, blink and you'll miss it writing for LGBT+ couples. I guess all the money they're making from their pride merch and ship/queerbaiting distracted them.
Lumity is more like if the other two idiots got together.
And yet this is still a bad pairing because the characters now revolve around each and only each other. It's like Ruby and Sapphire from Steven Universe where they just became THE LESBIANS with nothing else to them. They essentially became boring husks.

So, I'm only going off of the positive reception I've heard from a lot of other people who do watch the show. So, maybe you're right. But I still think from the looks of it, this pairing had better set up.

It's mostly like that because of a few things- one and most importantly *they were never supposed to be a couple* they're only supposed to be best friends!! they literally had a plotline full for Blake to be with Sun from the literal beginning of the show and they had an amazing relationship with one another that is full with actual healthy stuff and then they caved to the demands and threats of people from the fandom which I honestly hate calling them "a fandom" because those people I do not associate myself with but basically they were threatened to put Bumblebee as a thing in the show, now because the original Creator didn't want bumblebee to be a thing they still don't do it but not a reason why they don't do it is because they know right now they're eating the two cakes and leaving them whole- they're giving the teasing for both couples so they are being left with both audiences, and even with that Blake and Sun relationship is still better than Blake and Yang relationship!!
now the second thing about those two is that they had good characteristics until the ship started being pushed so hard on them that they literally lost almost everything that's made them themselfs, they added so many unnecessary scenes while still maintaining an extremely toxic and unhealthy relationship between those two and having problems between them that are still yet to be resolved and I don't think they will ever actually talk about those stuff, so I don't want Bumblebee to be a thing just because it's SOOO toxic!! and if you would taking the Bumblebee structure and put it on a male and a female character everyone will be SCREAMING toxic relationship but because it's two girls everyone is fine with it being extremely toxic because 'oh lesbians I love lesbians!'
Not the third thing that really annoys me about this damn pairing is that they have literally NO Foundation to be a pair! unlike Blake and Sun that from *the minute they met each other had a connection* that kept on developing in a good pacing in a healthy pacing and with helping each other, Blake and Yang whilst being IN A TEAM OF FOUR only had ONE meaningful conversation between the two of them and then a 1/3 way discussion about why they want to be huntresses and why they went to the same school, aside from that they had *no connection, no meaningful talks, no nothing that can hold a relationship* and it's one of the reasons why their relationship is so toxic because there is literally no Foundation to build on.
Basically bumblebee is Shit pairing and I really hope it will never be a thing cuz I do not want people to normalize extremely toxic relationships just because it's two girls, lgbtq people can still be toxic by themself and in a relationship and people should really acknowledge that.

In some ways, the character of Belos is like a combination of Salem's and Ozpin's traits for what he represents in the backstory with the immortality trait.
Like, Ozpin, he's meant to be seen as a compulsive liar who tricks people into following along with his plans through deceit and leading the world forward. It's closer to the Wizard of Oz in him using practical tricks and disguises to fake the idea of being magical and all-powerful, experimenting on those he deems unimportant, and the series is pretty firm setting him in the moral black for these deceitful actions as opposed to the half-hearted attempts at gray morality the heroes try to punish him for in RWBY.
Like Salem, he's the story's main villain, primarily opposing a young teenage girl, and he also has the goal is to annihilate the world and particularly a very specific group of people (witches and Silver Eyed warriors), but said goal is laid out a lot more cleanly even with only about two episodes to lead into it. Even just through background pictures, it's somehow made more clear how he turned against his brother (and killed him for it) than Salem turning against Ozpin and killing her kids, with Belos deliberately taking advantage of the ability to create perpetual clones for torturing his brother. Not to mention the specific grip he has over the show's setting to control subordinates is made consistently clear, which we just have to infer about in Salem's case since we don't know how she met ANY of her inner circle in-show.

The whole "think of the children!!!" logic is so weird because they're basically admitting that 10 seconds of "the gay" has more power than YEARS of heteronormativity being shoved down our throats. They're not scared their kids could become gay, they're scared to find out they weren't straight to begin with.
Anyways, I'm also glad they completely avoided the "will they, won't they?" cliches, but If there's 1 thing I didn't quite like though was that it somehow felt a little ...out of character for Amity to do a 180 from being able to perfectly hiding her crush on Luz, to going full Marinette whenever she was near only because we as an audience were now aware of said crush. And then she basically went "back to normal" so....Amity was sacrificed for fanservice, kinda

My only criticism with The Owl House is how underutilized Lilith's character was. The show introduced her as a mentor for the future generation of witches, and especially Amity's mentor (she called her "her strongest protogee") then they just threw that to the side. I get that season 2 was supposed to be her fall from grace but it felt like it was her fall from the narrative overall. She only interacts with characters she already interacted a lot with in season 1 (Eda, Luz and King) with Hooty being the only addition.
Amity never brings her up again after Covention even tho she was her mentor, no coven head mentions her, not even Hunter. She leaves in season 2 right before Raine is introduced and captured (which is a shame given how close they both were to Eda and how many plots could result from that) and when it comes to the day of Unity, no one even bothered to ask the previous head of the Emperor's Coven about it or hint at the fact that they at least asked her.
My theory is that the writers had no idea what would happen with their show after season 1, and given how shortened season 3 got, they decided that the season 1 finale was enough for her. "Her conflict with Eda was resolved so might as well focus on all the other characters and flesh them out while we still have time"

It's sad that Disney seems to forces on the lgbt part then the action-magical world part, i adore the owl house on how luz a human come into the boiler isle to learn magic by eda the owl lady who is one my fav, im sad it getting canceled where it could have more season to grew but nope
