You do understand that was all fictional right?

    • @imahumanperson361

@@ChadDrakeTech Okay...? Doesn't change the fact that stuff like that has happened all throughout history. Men would make the mistakes, yet they would still find a way to blame the woman (or women) if there was any involved. Take for example Henry the 8th and Anne Boleyn. He was completely willing to cheat on Catherine of Aragon and upend the entire religious system in England just to divorce his queen for Anne. That's his fault for being willing to do that. But who did history blame? Anne, for being ambitious and smart enough to seize the opportunity for power. And what was she executed for? Adultery, regardless of whether or not she actually did it, when that was something Henry himself was notorious for. Funny, isn't it?

    • @haileym5912
      @haileym5912 2 місяці тому +17

@ChadDrakeTech fictional yes but it's still a prime example of how in history men blamed women for THEIR choices and this was the norm. It wasn't some unheard of thing for the Trojans and everybody to blame the woman because that's just how it was. Fiction written in the past often says a lot about the way things were in the past.

    Tale as old as honey
    A moment everybody knows
Yeah, I'm sure there was heartbreak
    Inside the walls of Jericho
    I couldn't believe it
How you could just stop wanting me
    You burnt down Easter Island
As if it wasn't sacred, as if it wasn't sacred to me
I've seen it, in the poems and the sands
I've pleaded, with the powers and their plans
I tried to rewrite it but I can't
It's the history, the history of man
She stays up, he's sleeping like a lamb
She begs him, he says he doesn't understand
She loves him, more than anyone ever has
In the history, the history of man
    It's the history of man
    You didn't even falter
Didn't look back once, did you?
So Samson blamed Delilah, but given half the chance I
I would have made him weaker too
    Siren sounded, trumpets blaring
You walked out oh, without sweating
I've seen it, in the poems and the sands
I've pleaded, with the powers and their plans
I tried to rewrite it but I can't
It's the history, the history of man
She stays up, he's sleeping like a lamb
She begs him, he says he doesn't understand
She loves him, more than anyone ever has
In the history (history), the history of man
He stole our youth and promised heaven
The men start wars yet Troy hates Helen
    Women's hearts are lethal weapons
Did you hold mine and feel threatened?
Hear my lyrics, taste my venom
You are still my great obsession
I've seen it, in the poems and the sands
I've pleaded, with the powers and their plans
I tried to rewrite it but I can't
It's the history (history), the history of man
I stay up, you're sleeping like a lamb
I beg you and you don't understand
I hold on, I try to hold your hand
I save you a seat and then you say you wanna stand
So you'll lose me, the best you'll ever have
It's the history, the history of man

This song is perfection. Maisie is a lyrical genius. Each line has so much thought put into it and each has so many different meanings, and they all cut through straight to the heart. They capture the essence of womanhood. The way we love and love and love no matter how much the ones we love hurt us and blame us for their own faults. And here’s the thing: Maisie Peters could write Shakespeare’s best works, but Shakespeare couldn’t even write Maisie’s worst song. Every man on this planet should be required to listen to this song, really listen. Research the lyrics and their meanings, and write a 10 page essay on it. Even then, they’ll only barely be able to grasp how important this song is, but at least they’d understand some.
    God I love Maisie✨💕

There are so many references to some of Taylor's songs, and it has the same intensity as her albums. This album's perfect! The vibes it gives, it's so good and sad at the same time! My top three is: Two Weeks Ago, Want You Back and History of Man!

It is so divinely special when a woman falls in love.
Just that inescapable, all consuming, drunken, miraculous kind of love. Not to say men can’t feel the same way, but it’s just different.
It goes well beyond just liking a person and wanting to spend time with them, or even getting married, it’s wanting to give everything they have to them and more. We want to shower them in gifts to see them smile, spend all of our time, give them a home, a child, a life, a person.
In a world where us humans are the highest intellectual being with unlimited freedoms, we choose to fully give ourselves to you and there is not a single thing we would not do, for you. We give you our freedom, we give you our individuality, we give you our person. Well beyond just loving someone, we give them all of us, the moon and the stars.
    because you deserve it.
Then, ultimately, the man just cannot understand. They cannot understand what they are doing wrong, when on paper they aren’t doing anything wrong.
For some men, just loving someone, even to the best of their ability, just isn’t enough.
They haven’t made any defined mistakes, but how can you boil down the infinite complexity of a woman’s love to a mistake or two.
It is beyond reason, beyond explanation… sometimes their desire to stand in a warm room, when we would lay on coals, is all that needs to be said.
Yet history will do what it is does best and continue on in spite of it all, as will Helen.
Repeating the vicious cycle until one day, she met someone.
    Someone who tried to understand.
Thus ending the history of man.
One fit for her miraculous love, a miraculous man.

I love this song and I definitely relate to what you're writing here, but I've come to realize that this kind of magical obssesive fairytale love we have for men stems from codependency and childhood traumas when the only way we knew how to cope is to create a magical fantasy world and find safety and saviors and heroes through that, but when we grow up, we try to project that onto men, thinking if we just love them hard enough, through thick and thin, forgive their shortcomings and flaws they'll reward our loyalty with their undying love and affection that will heal all of our wounds and feel all the love we never had as children. How has that worked for us so far? Even the prettiest and sweetest of us still has a broken heart and been screwed over by some douche. So it's time we change the pattern. That miraculous magical love we give so freely, we should give it to ourselves first and foremost, and only allow people who enrich our lives. It's time we save ourselves and stop waiting for some magical great love to save us. We already have that power within us to heal and evolve and then men become mere companions that toss back the second they bring us hurt. It's time we become responsible for our healing and happiness.

My mum was an asexual person. Wanted to be a nun but was told to have an experience first outside. Dad came and proclaimed she's his girl and mum was like, "He didn't ask but screw it. At least I got that requirement." Days later she got r*ped by him. As a catholic conservative, she said she felt dirty. He went on and later after grad and mum's on medical residency they had me.
Dad begged mum to marry him three times (6 if you count during their undergrad days) and with tears in his eyes mum relented. Now without mum's knowledge, dad got my maternal grandparents to agree ONLY if mum finally passed the boards. Dad didn't wait long. He set the date and waited for mum at the hospital to ensure she couldn't escape (mum wanted to). They got married and her whole family turned against her. Dad brought her around the country, and with her introverted personality his relatives projected every negative thing at her and he believed it...
Even had the gall to accuse mom of incest... Years later we found out it was on the same year he rekindled his affections with his HS crush. Years forward of abuse (sometimes psychological, sometimes physical), we found out his on-off affair...The reason for his detached treatment of us, his inconsistency, his now semi-cold treatment of mum... Fun isn't it?
    What's all this for?
It complex honestly... I love my dad but he is toxic to mum. I want to see him again and have him as my family but they are destructive- dad with his subtlty and words, and mum's reactivity forged after dad's toxic personality...
This song perfectly capsulate my mum and dad... Kinda feels cathartic...

The Tarot cards are such poetic symbolism since Witches used to be burned, and those accused of witchcraft were mainly women

I talked about this with a friend and they wanted to tell their story of our conversation:
My friend: the immense pain seeing this as tarot cards. at 14 forsaw an assault situation. I cried and freaked out asking for a way to prevent it. All i heard was it was up to the mans power. I was furious and scared. I heard to prepare by trying ro make the wound less by not seeing virginity as something a man can take from you. Someone randomly told me thats how they see it and it helped a bit. Also remembering my other friends. And when it was close to happening i forgot about this and tried to prevent it. I could not. This song found me by my sense of seeing masie on my tl i just clicked. Im so sorry for anyone who relates. I was furious my power to see wasnt taken seriously. I knew who would be guilty. I may be nb but no one cared. No one likes a mad woman.
