Lyrics:
I met a woman with lips so red
A face so lined like spider webs
I’ll always remember the things she said
They were so wise, she ope’d my eyes and they’ll never close again
Oh how she sighed when she stubbed her cigarette
I felt compelled to enquire of her success
How do you do how can you be so in love with yourself
Tell me please cause I need help
She said…
Every time you are succeeding
There’s an old man somewhere, seething
And spite’s as good a reason to take his power
When you hate the body you are in
Oh love, you’re acting just for him
As he counts his gold and green in his ivory tower
Our fear it lines his pockets love
So take that rage and bottle up
And put a drop into his cup of wine
You don’t need him, you don’t need me
With that poisoned bottle you’ll be free
But be damn sure you don’t mix it up with mine
I met a young girl with eyes so bright
She was already getting sick of life
Her arms were laden with his merchandise
She asked me why I no longer try and waste my time
and I said “spite”
‘Cause every time you are succeeding
There's an old man somewhere seething
And spite’s as good a reason to take his power
When you hate the body you are in
Oh love, you’re acting just for him
As he counts his gold and green in his ivory tower
Our fear it lines his pockets love
So take that rage and bottle up
And put a drop into his cup of wine
You don’t need him, you don’t need me
With that poisoned bottle you’ll be free
But be damn sure you don’t mix it up with mine
Be damn sure you don’t mix it up with mine
I met a woman with lips so red
Always remember the things she said

"with that poisoned bottle you'll be free, but be damn sure you don't mix it up with mine." i love this lyric because it shows that women are often, sadly, pitted against each and we need to stick together in order to fight against the patriarchy ❤
Paris Paloma has done it again and written an amazing female rage anthem. Will be playing this on repeat.
I put this on repeat any time I need to do anything where I don't need to interact with other people. I have fallen asleep listing to this twice now. I've known it for 3 days lol.
@@rockthepebble388finally. I've found my people.
@@jellyrainstorm650 hell ya it took a while lol
@@jellyrainstorm650 we fight the bs together here!!
@@rockthepebble388 yes. This is why Paris is so amazing. Look at the community in the comments. So many people fighting the bs of society.
I like that she starts talking about how an older woman gave her advice and then she passed it on to a younger girl. ❤
I think that line of "but be damn sure you don't mix it up with mine" is a reminder that women need to build each other up not treat them as competition to elevate themselves.
you're right, it also reminds me of internalized misogyny in women
It's hard to express how much impact does your music have - every piece of art you're publishing makes me feel something really ancestry inside, something very grueling but in the same time I feel like I'm in the right place, beside my sisters here.
female rage!!! i love it
She’s so good at using poetic lyricism/imagery/storytelling to get her message across. A lot of music that has the same messages is a bit too on the nose for me, nothing wrong with that, it’s just not my cup of tea. I absolutely love her work!
@@seeseemboaà❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤1``
I agree, her songs r so evocative and have quickly become some of my favorites because of how raw the emotion is. Nothing ignites my rage and sorrow and also pride like her lyrics!
I just discovered her, and am loving every song more and more! Already shared with my niece and my female friends - such strong messages!! ❤
'when you hate the body you're in/oh love you're acting just for him' - this hit so hard. It's such hard gruelling work learning to stop hating your body, but it's so worth it once you get there. I used to hate everything about my body so much but now I love it defiantly - acne scars and thick thighs and leg hair and big nose and all. We don't need makeup and we don't need injections or surgery, we need courage!! Literally got tears in my eyes listening to this, I love women so much ❤ we're so strong and amazing!
Be the lionesses. The work together, and if the group is endangered they work together to take the problem out, (That is a diplomatic statement for Finance’s commercial communications, which seems to be ever more concerned with controlling the agenda of finance).
PERIODT 👏🙌🧡
Ooo, I love that "now I love it defiantly".
I will endeavour to love my body defiantly.
Thank you for those words.
@@jennivamp5me too. One day I won’t hate my belly. My daughter loves my belly and revels in its softness and the comfort that it gives. Why do we do this to ourselves? For what? For men? No more… I get chills listening to her songs. I just discovered her yesterday. Goddess!
Paris just keeps dropping diamonds one after another, girl shot up my list of favorite artists like a damn rocket.
I love how low your voice gets in this song, especially the "she was already getting sick of life" part, gave me chills 🖤
Paris became my favorite artist with two songs. All that rage and injustice that i and every woman i know experienced is beautifully expressed here. What a year for female empowerment.
It feels silly to admit but as someone who has struggled with self image issues and hatred this song made me tear up. Especially the part about the young girl, even though ive never been overly interested in make up etc and have rejected the concept as a feminist since ive realized the damage it does to women and young girls. Thank you for writing these songs. The fruits, labour, etc all of them are so incredibly impactful and I listen to them on repeat regularly
I'm so glad that my perspective of makeup has been" I'm doing art and this time my canvis is my face" instead of "I need makeup to look good" I've seen so many people with the second view on it and it's really sad. Using makeup to change your appearance is fine but if you feel like you need it to look good than that's unhealthy and untrue.
I agree with you!! Especially the makeup part
How is she not more well known!? Her music is so empowering
That’s probably why! She’s too powerful lol
Everytime I'm frustrated or overwhelmed with university I remember my ability to read and write in my spoke language and my understanding of basic math makes me more academically intelligent than 90%+ of men who have ever lived. And it's a great motivator
: )
@pass-vs2pk Why you gotta drop bomb morning affirmations on us like that? 🥰💣💥
We get to be scholars. Our ancestors would be so proud of us
THIS IS MY ROMAN EMPIRE!
“But be damn sure you don’t mix it up with mine” gave me shivers
The Icon of our age, she says just what we’re thinking & feeling 🙌❤️🔥
And she understands it so Young too. M and my friends where dumb asses in our early 20s
@sierrabird2460 we were a lot more socialized to not question the status quo, we saw firsthand how it affected family members mother's friends Etc when they stepped out of line.
Nowadays, they don't have to worry about half of the shit we did (despite the horrors we still have), just like we didn't have to worry about half the shit our moms did (despite the hell that was "women simply living in the 90s").
Each generation works to get Society to a point where their children are safer, specifically even more safe and hospitable than how the last set of women left the Earth.
If that's not a Super Woman, cross generational pus sy power of ours, I don't know what is!!!
We need to lovingly stage a domestic labor strike.
We can't keep going how it was in the past, and we have many dinosaurs who are freaking out as they die out, that their ideology is dying with them.
Society should be very thankful women want equality- not revenge and satifaction for our ancestors.
"be damn sure you don't mix it up with mine" is so powerful. Women attack each other, insult them, make them feel terrible. Terfs obsess over trans women's right to exist. We all have different, separate issues we are dealing with. Misdirecting that anger means the issues won't get resolved
Also at least to me its about don't mix your anger up with anyone else's. It should be your anger, your feelings. Not a copy of someone else's.
Ooh, that's a neat interpretation of it! I think you and stairs have it between you.
On the note of trans rights, "When you hate the body you are in / oh love you're acting just for him" is a very trans vibe. There's so much pressure to conform to an idea of "real" womanhood, "true" femininity, and it can be so hard to separate what we actually want from what we expect a man to want. As a trans woman, I have really complicated feelings about my breast growth under HRT. Everything else about HRT has been wonderful, but that? Some days I wish I felt able to just bind them. Sometimes I wonder if me not doing so is partially just because I worry cishet men won't see me as a "real" woman without them.
@@koboldcatgirl*hugs* You should do what makes you most comfortable. And even cis women get chest dysphoria sometimes, you should remember.
@@kokepasu4583 100%! For now, it's most comfortable to stay with them. Maybe when my voice is where I want it to be, I'll take another look at them.
Whoa yeah that line vibed with me as well haha
I am seeing this also as having to change in ways society tells us to be seen as a proper trans woman
This has the power to move mountains and crumble the patriarchy singlehandedly. Paris Paloma, somehow you are awakening something that has been forgotten for too long. Our power. 🔥
Painfully underrated. Youre so talented its insane. Everytime you post a tiktok with a snippet of a new songs it goes to my favourites straight away
paris you’re such an icon this is CRIMINALLY underrated I love the song and the lyrics so much this is so powerful
I have been so ready for this song to drop, and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Love your music, and their messages so much! Thank you for sharing your gifts with us❤
This song found me when I had just been given a zinger of a one liner about my joining the fire department that cut deep. It may not have been meant with malice, but dang it stung coming from someone I care about. I'm sure he's eating his words now , and will continue to as I continue firefighting and breaking his archaic mould. Thanks, Paris for the anthem that has helped me keep my head on straight and push on ❤️ I've said for years everything I do is out of spite. I'm not what anyone told me I'd be growing up (dropout, addict, party girl, bad mother, etc.). They can all shove it where the sun don't shine. I refuse to let them be right.
I love Paris Paloma so much, oh my goodness. Her songs make me feel so empowered as a woman. Just honestly, thank you!
I think you're the first singer to give songs I've been wanting for so long. Not a single song has comprised my feelings of rage in such a perfect way. I'm not mad for me alone, you sing for all women and we deserve that. Music is for messages, for our feelings, and we need the rage we have all been feeling to be heard, to be in music. This, Labor, and fruits are my favorites, I can't wait for Drywall
What an artist; her lyrics are on another level entirely!
As someone who doesn't often drop huge praise on artists, this womans works are incredible and intensely intimate. I hope she keeps up the inspiring work
My new female anger anthem! 😌💗
I have never found an artist that truly hits all the feelings i have in such a beautifully strong way. It’s a bop and great reminder. I truly love every single song.
I love the lines "her arms were already lined with her merchandise" its sad how many girls have scars on their arms
I love how as this song builds and gains strength, so do the women singing the lines. They start almost shy, barely moving their lips but as it builds they are saying the lines with their whole bodies as they start to believe it
This song is POWERFUL. All women need to understand and take in this message.
I cannot explain in words how this song makes me feel "our fear it lines his pockets love" that line is embedded into my heart.
Paris paloma doesn't just make art she is art.
Paris I can't express how free your music makes me feel. A weight lifting off of me. I love it all and you hit it hard with this one too. Please don't stop!
I haven’t been this excited about a new artist like this in a long time. Her writing, storytelling, voice, and melodies would have done it alone but then you listen to the lyrics… my God… Chills. Every woman in the world needs to listen to her. Let’s rip the patriarchy to shreds ladies. She’s our soundtrack.❤
With the rhythmn and the (sadly) timeless lyrics, i just know this is going to be a classic. Love the intergenerational feminist themes ❤❤❤❤
As a transmasc, this is something that I wish I could have played for myself when I denied myself. Thank you for these tears ❤. You’re going to save lives.
Honestly same, it's a weird divide of worlds trans people experience. But these songs are so powerful they still resonate with me
i come in the comment just to said that!!
@@Nine_Crows_Down 100% agree! It helps that they're such flipping bops.
This woman doesn’t have one bad song, Jesus Christ all of them are masterpieces
I always weld so much more pumped up when I listen to this, I became a welder to really do something that would help others and create. It’s always so fun to see people’s reactions to my career because I’m very feminine outside of work
Again, a song left me balling out my eyes after it touched buried feelings😢❤ thanks Paris Paloma. Thank you so much for helping healing
Oh I love this song already so much
Paris Paloma does it again!!! Such an amazing artist with songs that reverberate through generations of old messaging, and breaking them apart! Powerful!
Facebook has marked this video as offensive, what the hell? What kind of fragile masculinity felt the need to do that??? Shame on him.
I’d disregard Facebook opinions on basic principle tbh
This song is amazing, I think I'll listen to it for a long long time because it remembers me why I have to keep living and overcome my being afraid of being happy while doing so: spite.
Paris Paloma IS A MOVEMENT...she's openly screaming from the rooftop what every woman has felt since the creation of the Patriarchy. Once upon time women were seen as Goddesses and respected for the beautiful magical beings we are.
THANK YOU PARIS!!! You are the light we’ve been waiting for. The time is now.
i literally can't stop listeting to this song all day long! i get goosebumps from every second. the lyrics are so relatable, clever and filled with an empowering rage of womanhood. support female artists, live laugh love Paris Paloma💗
Невероятная песня! Покрываюсь мурашками каждый раз слушая ее. Она дает мне сил и вдохновляет, как ни одна другая. Я очень благодарна за нее, спасибо
I'm a male teen and I love her music!
I haven't gotten goosebumps from an artist in a LONG time. You're in a whole different league of your own
That's the definition of art!
every single one of your songs is an absolute masterpiece, including this. thank you so much paris for ur amazing work and truly blessing our ears, i adore your music so much 🫶🏼
Thank you for making me cry with rage and strength, for making me feel less alone and less crazy 💜
Paris, I've been following you and your music for a little while and I fully mean it when I say you literally never disappoint. Your music has the same beautiful quality that I've only found in Hozier's discography, and he's my favorite artist. I simply can't wait to see where your music career brings you and witness you reach even higher peaks every time! THANK YOU for the amazing music you create ❤
Thank you so, so much for what you are doing. As a young women, there are so many difficulties in my life rn, and I've been struggling for a while, but your music make me smile and dance and cry. And it's so beautiful and amazing ❤❤❤
I came here after checking katy perry’s “women’s world” bc i needed to hear an actual feminist song lol
Another brilliant song as always! Really loving your recent stuff, your art is blooming and it's a privilege to watch in real time
I already commented once, but just wanted to say that I've repeated this three times on a friday night, and it's 1:55 am. Worth it!
Absolutely love this! 😍😍 I can't wait for Paris to make a full album one day.
Feminine rage is Paris Paloma incarnate. We all felt it.
thank you for your advocacy and artistry, we cherish you Paris Paloma!
I need a longer version of this! It's so empowering 💪🏻🖤
how doesn't this have millions of views/likes? she's so talented
I've listened to this so many times it already feels like I've listened to it for a year. Shocked to find this song was only released about two weeks ago.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
well this is my new favourite song. that's saying something coming in the same 6mths Mitski and Hozier released an album each.
It feel so short, like it should be a 15min thing, it's so great to the point you don't want it to end.
this is gonna be major inspo for my story 🥰
Omg I’m legit amazed at the lyrics and power to all your songs! Must be been said a lot but new favorite artists ❤💯 it’s dark and thought provoking.
It’s kinda sad to admit the only reason I’m alive is quiet literally spite, and this song encapsulates this perfectly
I've tried to live by this message for a while - SO happy to see it put perfectly in a song
chills... just chills girl I love this song
While it may be unintentional, I find it interesting that the first time she says “be damn sure you don’t mix it up with mine,” a montage of WOC are shown. Since this lyric is about how in efforts to fight misogyny, we unintentionally tear down/exclude women in the process, I think this refers to how WOC who often started and inspired grass-root movements for women (as represented by the woman that Paris initially gets her advice from being a Black Woman) have been undermined from certain parts of the movement due to white-feminism “mixing up” the initial intentions that were once built by the very women who are often excluded and undervalued, (WOC) making misogyny look less substantial then it is due to the notion that it only impacts “some” people.
full body chills.
This is absolutely such a beautiful song. This is everything. Thank You!!
I find myself in a state of deja vu. I remember getting this excited back in my youth for new Tori amos and pj Harvey. Thank the gods and goddesses for you and kiki Rockwell. Give me hope for my daughter's own musical empowering. Blessed Be.
the only ad song i don't ever skip!!! what a lovely melody
Damn. You keep raising the bar higher with each new song. Thanks for the work you do!
oh wow. no words.. those lyrics are so damn powerfull
Thank you so much for your music. A friend showed me labour and since then I can't stop listening to you and powerful music.
chills everywhere. i love you and your music. thank you!!
this is a masterpiece. i don't even have words
I love how is she alone at first, but in the end they are all standing together ❤
I can not love this enough. It's too good
Paris I am in love with your music as soon as this came out me and my brother watched it is is so amazing I can always feel the power in your voice keep doing this please
i'm so happy i've come across your on tour clip and brought me here, streaming the whole playlist. your music is so meaningful, and idk how to describe it but i always get this feeling when i'm so into a song; i love it.
Please I am begging you, come to america so I can hear this live in concert.
I second this!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Talented, brilliant, incredible, showstopping, spectacular, never the same
i love you and your music so much, paris
Florence and the machine vibes BIG TIME and I love it!!
I am confused by how underrayed this song is especially after Labour became so huge .
This is a simply brilliant song.
she did it again, I'm sitting here sobbing yet feeling as empowered as ever ✊🤍
Absolutely genius truly
Beautiful, powerful, subtle, clear, perfect, and true. Thank you.
Can’t stop repeating this masterpiece, Paris ALWAYS knows how to create perfect female rage songs ❤ I especially adore the “be damn sure not to mix it up with mine” line, such a powerful statement. We’re already living in a world that brings us down just for being a woman to be doing it to each other and ourselves 😔 BRILLIANT ✨💜 new favourite artist 💕 srsly Paris I love and adore you and your beautifully written melodies 💖
I felt this in my soul as someone who aspires to be a woman in stem i know this is so true
The only criticism I could provide is that's it's too short, I need more!
This song is amazing and I think it could help thousands of women to realize their worth!
Your song is good as always!! Thank you for producing such excellent music into this world. It’s very inspiring and raises a good question in this patriarchal society ❤
“I met a young girl with eyes so bright
She was already getting sick of life” hit me so hard .
GET HER TO 100K!!!! ❤❤❤
