Canning for 30 yrs. Reviewed your receipe; agree, not concerned. Thank you for hint and explanation on : PINT JAR ONLY. Looks fabulous! Will try! Sorry for laughing but I have never seen so many new gadgets marketed for canning! The rings on jars don't change in measuring head space. The guage tool to "measure hand tight" was hysterical! I don't know how to add the chopstick emoji, but I watched to the end. I think your meal in a bag would be a great gift for someone who is sick, or had a birth etc. Almost like giving a casserole but if they don't need it right away it's shelf stable.
I made this using beef chunks about a month ago. I just opened a jar two nights ago, added some frozen mixed vegetables, heated it up and served over rice. It was wonderful. I will DEFINITELY be making it again with chicken and pork too. Thank you for the winning canning recipe.
Looks good, I'm gonna try it, I always buy chicken leg quarters in a 10 lb bag and remove the skin & bones myself and throw them in a freezer bag and freeze them for making chicken broth

Tried my canned chicken for a quick dinner last night and it is amazing! I’m thrilled that it warmed up fast and was great on rice. 7 more pints on the shelf is the best part!
Made this recipe and wow it is awesome. I changed up this a little. Left the thicker out to add when I warm it up again. I made it in the instant pot, put two cups of sauce in the pot and then added 21/2 lbs of the chicken cut up processed in high for 10 minutes, 5 minutes npr. Took out chicken and left sauce behind and turned to sauté and added ultra gel( 1/4 a cup) to thicken took less than 1 minute and perfect. Put chicken back into sauce and served over rice with sesame seeds and cut up green onions and diced yellow bell peppers. It was awesome. Now to canning it tomorrow Thank you so much for the recipe!

Something that would be helpful to those of us who are trying the recipe for the first time is a weight for the chicken. II am thinking that your chicken thighs are much larger than mine. I have canned chicken thighs whole 4-5 / wide mouth quart bone in skin on little to no liquid needed. Because of this I'd use gelatin powder in the liquid about 1to 1.5 T per cup (need to add to a hot liquid or its a thick glob usable only after heated in a bit of water / broth to make a smooth liquid) more lumpy than flour added to water. It would not be handy if bones / skin were in this dish however gelatin is a natural thing in bones and skin. This is not health advice just my experience. Because it helped me so much I'd either cook bone/ skin in liquid like cooking a roast in the oven or chicken thighs / steak in a fry pan produces gelatin) then use liquid or add gelatin powder to any hot broth but *I never use pork or gelatin powder derived from pork, most are, pork cheaper. Now brand gelatin is good. I only use chicken, fowl, or beef or fish used in fish dishes. When I started using gelatin at 70+ years my jaws grew to fit my teeth making my teeth much straighter. My bottom teeth were leaning in straightened up making chewing easier. You would be all better NOW if you listened to MY prescription..😀😀 Teriyaki is one of the seasonings, herbs, that i put back to make BLAND into a better tasting meal..PERHAPS a vid on the herbs, spices, broth / boulion's, sauce's etc to make a bland meal into a WICKED PISSSSSAH meal..Greatt as always J..
That looks delicious, but.. I noticed that it didn't look like you covered the jars with water in the canner. I thought the water had to cover the jars completely. No?
The recipe was pressure cooked which does not require jars to be covered with water. Foods that are water bather need to be covered with water & cooked for longer periods of time. In this case, you would need to waterbath for 3 hours but because it was pressure canned it needs less water & 75 minutes for pints.
I've just ordered Clear Jel online (I live far from anywhere!) so I'm all ready to make this. I still have a Q though: Can I can this in a Qt Mason jar? My son doesn't have all that much space to store that many jars, and frankly, a pint jar wouldn't feed him for dinner in any case. A qt jar & maybe a qtr of the a 2nd is for the rest of the kids (I can't eat ckn) & most of the 1st jar is for him, so making pint jars is totally inefficient use of our 22qt Presto canner. I can on my better days (I've got chronic medical issues) so he can feed himself & my grands on the days he gets them on Fri & he's too exhausted to cook. He doesn't have to order/buy pizza, & they get a nutritious meal. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!
Water bath canning is not an "approved " method for canning meat,; that being said lots of people do it. If it's something you're comfortable with in your kitchen, water bath times for meats is 3 hours.
Oh nooo. Got up this am going to try this but realized I purchased the Instant Clear Jel as opposed to the Cook Clear Jel. 🤦♀️ Does anyone know if I can use it as instead?
30 yrs of canning...one of best meals I have ever canned!

🤣🤣🤣 Oh Mr. Q, you're always there to crack me up! That's a WICKED GOOD idea though!! Hmmmm 🤔 I'll have to do some brainstorming on that one! Ayuhh!
I have never canned. I eat a lot of processed food but am trying to change my ways in my old age of 63. lol! How ling do these canned foods last?
That looks delicious, but.. I noticed that it didn't look like you covered the jars with water in the canner. I thought the water had to cover the jars completely. No?
The recipe was pressure cooked which does not require jars to be covered with water. Foods that are water bather need to be covered with water & cooked for longer periods of time. In this case, you would need to waterbath for 3 hours but because it was pressure canned it needs less water & 75 minutes for pints.
@@whisperingfaith well carp. I've been covering the jars to pressure can. d'oh! I did not know that!
Could you tell me which Clear Jel to order is it instant or cooked type?
@@deloreswiley9581 it's the cook type. 😊
Hi I loved your video an just subscribed. Question, I’m new at canning can you do this recipe in water bath canner or not
Ty in advance 😊
Water bath canning is not an "approved " method for canning meat,; that being said lots of people do it. If it's something you're comfortable with in your kitchen, water bath times for meats is 3 hours.
Wonder if you could add carrot matchsticks?
I don't see why not! 😊
Can you turn this into a Freeze-dried meal?
Oh nooo. Got up this am going to try this but realized I purchased the Instant Clear Jel as opposed to the Cook Clear Jel. 🤦♀️ Does anyone know if I can use it as instead?
🥢 great ideas
Thank you 😊
How do you leave chopstick emoji
Wicked Preper. Did I miss how much chicken to use to make 8 pints
I have 6# written down so evidently...
Would that be good with pineapple
Do you have a printable recipe available? Thanks :)
Nevermind... I just saw it ;)
