Change the timing belt and water pump ASAP!! That leaking coolant might be the water pump, which could be a sign of imminent catastrophe!! I've posted on the previous Prowler video on how the water pump (which tends to leak around 80k miles or after a certain age) was THE reason for the notorious 2.7L sludge issue.. it's the same water pump for the 3.2L and 3.5L which leaks coolant and could eventually seize, which would snap the timing belt (this is an interference engine, you can understand the urgency). Change it every 80k or seven years, and it's a 300k+ mile engine easy. Per the theme, it's a cheap and easy solution to an otherwise very long-lasting engine. Yes, I'd have to agree that there are some similar styling cues on both cars. Chrysler at this time were making some interesting cars; the Prowler being the most interesting. Retro mid 1930's design for the PT Cruiser and late '20's on the Prowler and they made it work. It would have been really cool if it had a rumble seat in the back. Too bad it did not come with a stick or a Magnum V8. Not a Cryco fan by any means but this is a cool car.
@@kramnull8962 Definitely way over priced. Basically a re-bodied Neon. Even though they looked pretty cool, it was hard on gas and built with the typical Dodge/Chrysler low quality that people have come to accept.
I had the rare Black Tie Edition...got it new. Ball Joint Recall, peeling chrome off the wheels, gas tank pump seal leaked...all covered under warranty though.....but I was always going back to the dealer for something. It's a parts bin car...Dodge Neon brakes, Intrepid engine, Jeep steering wheel, Concorde shifter, etc....But wow, was it a fun car! Just a circus wherever I went.
All jokes about the "dumbest automotive channel" and about bad decisions aside, this channel really is a gem. Quite entertaining in unexpected ways, there's not that many people out there who experiment and explore cars in the flesh like you guys do. It's interesting to watch a video about the Prowler and its history, but it's much more interesting to see one of those lifted up in the shop, with two enthusiasts who care about the car.
Had a Chrysler Concord with that same belt idler pully issue from brand new. Dealer never could find it even after I described the sound as "like a worn out, old metal roller skate wheel spinning. The bearing finally seized (out of warranty) and blew the power steering belt. I was amazed at how quiet the car ran as I muscled it back to the dealer without power steering. Dealer replaced the idler and the service writer told me "The idler bearing was bad. They sound like an old metal roller skate wheel when they start to go." I had him look up the history and the "Customer states engine is very noisy and sounds like old roller skate wheel when running." notation. They made the repair under warranty.
Never seen from undercarriage view, unique engineering. Seen the Viper while it was in pre- production at the Whittier "skunk works " w/ body off frame & it's a beast. i like the suspension on this. & remember the articles on prototype . Good luck.
Hey hoovie. If your check engine light came on. Say to the wizard to check on the passenger side, on top of the gas tank. There is a hose that cracks and is going to leak gas vapor.
I didn’t pay attention to my owners manual “recommendation” to change the timing belt every 100,000 on my old 2000 Intrepid R/T. I miss that car. At about 180,000 the timing belt broke. Dealership wanted about $2500 for the fix.
Cool car! Pretty much like normal maintenance except for the window regulator. If vehicle inspections are not an issue a front bumper delete would be in order. It's a vastly improvement.
Coming from a 300M background, many would suggest the replacement of the timing belt and possibly the tensioner. Then while there, go ahead and replace the water pump. Chrysler suggested the timing belt be replaced every 100K miles or 7 years, whichever came first.
I always wanted a Prowler, I saw one in a local used car dealer but it was such a shady looking joint I didnt even want to set foot in there, but man, that was the closest I ever was to one. Some day I will buy one. some day.

But at least it’s not expensive as The wizard.
mark whitehead Hoovie and Wizard should be added to GTA V as part of a DLC package.
Hoovie's life is like what I do on GTA honestly. Just buy cars and pull up to LS Customs to change up some things, then repeat the cycle.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hoovie was singlehandedly keeping the Wizard in business
I feel like the Car Wizard is just Hoovie's personal mechanic at this point.
What about Johnny the Car Ninja?
@@Isaackariuki775 hoovie's mistress
Well most of his business is from Hoovies.
Isaac Kariuki the Ninja is only when the Wizard can’t diagnose the issues
@@aidanatienza Oh God XD.
I was probably 13 or 14 when I first seen my cousin driving a yellow one. To this day I am still confused if I liked it or not.
you didn't like it
Well. If you like cool cars then you like it. If you own a 4 door Hyundai then you don’t.
Definitely a confusing car, as I tend to hate everything Chrysler makes. . . But it's different. Not many cars that look like a Prowler.
pricey sway bar links.
$226 window regular rebuild on ebay.
Nope
Yep. Save a cool 800 bucks.
@@flight2k5 what do you mean nope?
They paint job definitely needs some love and the interior. I had a die cast model that was the same color too!
Damn! The beetle sounds incredible
Congrats on hitting a million subs Hoovie!
4:40 i guess i should do it stradman style
lol
I found his channel through stradman 😂
Good luck.
Prowler Window Regulator rebuild service on eBay for $226
Hope Hoovie sees this. !!!!!
Last time I was this early, Tyler still had an LS swapped 911
Man, I thought these where so cool when I was a kid! Even had a model of it I built.
Wizard: I don’t know anything about growlers.
UK people: on the floor crying with laughter.
I’m from the us what is it
I’m unsure if that slang for gay bears or if it’s about the drinking container
@@Oscillating_Fan Big, natural and female.
I went to middle school in a gold prowler with under 3k mi back in early 00’s. My g dad garage queen. Rip jimmy. Coolest day of my school life
Wizard- I would definitely fix everything.
Hoovie- No of course your getting all the money. 😂😂😂

@Goorpijp Wessel I don't think faith has anything to do with intelligence. Just look how many intelligent people throughout history were religious.
I was looking forward to this one! 😂
Seriously! Always loved this car. My dad had a couple model Prowlers. I always wanted this ... Even with the intrepid engine
@@paulcarmi8130 the intrepid motor was garbage lol......many many weekends went to fixing one
I disagree, Nick, I had the same motor in my 300m. Nothing but oil changes for 16 years!
@@claytonallen3361 what you guys are saying is just standard Chrysler. It's either great, or fucking garbage. Lol
the Munsters are looking for their car....
Every notice the wizards 👀 grow big when he’s see another hoovie car come rolling in.
Whe're off to see the Wizard! The Wonderful Wizard of Cars!
"You don't need to Rev it"
Hoovie: *Foot to the floor*
Car Wizard: I would fix it all.
Hoovie: of course, you are getting all the money.
Lmao
I too pull it and get it up when there’s no alternatives 16:05
Fantastic catch, Bob! That one went Zooom as it blew right past me!

I am impressed with the build quality, always liked the Prawler
Hey hoovie. If your check engine light came on. Say to the wizard to check on the passenger side, on top of the gas tank. There is a hose that cracks and is going to leak gas vapor.
"Dont call it a growler....people in the uk might have an issue with it"
Finally, an American who understands the uk sense of humor =D
"Intrepid engine" "that's cheap maintinece right there" bahahaha that's a good one!
BigWheel probably he meant cheap compared to Lamborghinis and Alpinas :)
Thereal Blackwell
That’s all they deserve really
Isn't the Intrepid using a Mitsubishi motor?
I didn’t pay attention to my owners manual “recommendation” to change the timing belt every 100,000 on my old 2000 Intrepid R/T. I miss that car. At about 180,000 the timing belt broke. Dealership wanted about $2500 for the fix.
@@skewty no it's a Dodge engine.
When the Wizard lost the prelude he gained the turbo s. The sound is amazing and it is the ultimate sleeper. 😂
I hope the wizard knows what a tune can unlock on the 20VT VW engines. Big easy power gains
I’m from the UK got no problem with you calling it a growler 🤣
Me either, I like Growlers...🤣
ivan o idea There is something wrong if you don’t love a good growler 🤣
I’d like to see you do a episode on the Pontiac solstice great car fun to drive even the 2.4 L has enough kicking it wonderful gearbox
he did one on a saturn sky after his ferrari 355 burnt to the ground that time
Saturn sky is better looking
I loved mine
I had an ‘08 5 speed and I despised it. Very cheaply made. Kept it until ‘11 and it only had 15k mi
Wish i had a wizard in my life when my 89 mustang needed help
I always wanted a Prowler, I saw one in a local used car dealer but it was such a shady looking joint I didnt even want to set foot in there, but man, that was the closest I ever was to one. Some day I will buy one. some day.
I had a guy around me who had a prowler exactly like this. Same color and all but I never realized how cool they were when I was younger.
