    The market is unstable and you can not tell If it's going bearish or bullish. I advise y'all to forget predictions and start making a good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses.When these reports are bullish take some off to the side lines, when news gets bearish start buying. "Keep it simple simple" that bear/ correction was the best thing that happened me.

    But my confusion is what is the underlying value of cryptocurrency? For example, if I own a silver coin it has an underlying value. I can use the silver to make an ornament or make a semiconductor or any other things. A commodity has underlying value. But does a cryptocurrency have underlying value?? Can we use it in any way other than just making transaction??
    I know fiat currency also doesn’t have underlying value but at least a government is taking responsibility for that fiat currency! Who is taking responsibility for cryptocurrency? Cryptocurrency feels like another form of fiat currency! But It's worse because no one is taking responsibility for it 🤔

    • @coderanger7708
      @coderanger7708 3 роки тому +7

      It is controlled by a computer algorithm. But it does not have any underlying value. It is also decentralized. Decentralized systems always fail because we tried a decentralized currency before adopting to our banking system. But we only increased poverty with that. But many people do not know this, that's why they get on hype train without doing any research. I like your instinct to question.

    • @gizznajet1
      @gizznajet1 3 роки тому +2

      Exactly, you next door neighbor is the underlying value. The power of people who are just speculating. They don't even talk about blockchain technology . That's the value that's it's pegged. too. Reminds me of MLMS. Recruit buyers to expand the interst with no use case. Cut off the electricity and what do you have? Surely not money.

      it arguably has more intrinsic value that fiat currency due to the usefulness of the algorithm/ data structure its built on, but ultimately its worth at the moment is based on hype and speculation. we will look back and laugh at how hyped it was despite the fact the core idea of it is still useful.

      it has functions and it is a project not just a token
      If the project is successful then the coin grows in value
      Fiat loses its value while crypto gains in value

      her 3 criteria for doge were not met in 2018. most important, the use case is still not confirmed although it is likely to be used for actual transfer of funds and it seems there may be some sort of tem working it, as some aspects have been reworked such as the consideration regarding inflationary characteristic. it seems odd to me however as she glossed over the transfer of 50USD seems to have cost a transfer fee of 24USD? she just acted as if it was nothing that the transfer of 40 cost 74? am i missing something. that was easy ;)

    Bitcoin (or any cryptocurrency) has no intrinsic value and is not backed by any government. "Similar to Fiat currency, Bitcoin (or most of the cryptocurrencies) is also not backed by any gold or silver hence does not have any intrinsic value. The value of any currency comes from the backing of the state and the trust that people have over the government. Hence, for any money to be established as an exchange of value within a network, it is important for the network to trust it regardless of who (or what) is backing it."

If the dollar is inflated, like it has been by 2.3 TRILLION dollars being printed in the US the last year, the dollar goes down in price long-term. Influxes in crypto will always be there, but the overall trend still points up. My portfolio still shows green on the year. Can't say the same for the dollar..

    No private saver wants to interact directly with a borrower. How would they find someone who wants to borrow the exact amount on the exact terms, for the exact duration, without a huge effort? How would they recover unpaid debts, without massive personal expense? How would they understand the trustworthiness and affordability of a borrower, without significant effort? Why would wish to assume the risks of lending to a borrower who is not known to them? How would a private lender understand the risk of any profit being lost to inflation?
    Banks create portfolios of debts that are helpful to spread the risk that any one saver/ investor may assume when they lend. They have expertise in checking trustworthiness and affordability and in understanding monetary trends. For all these services and for assuming the risk of debts not being paid back, they take a percentage of the interest before passing it on to borrowers. This is what a financial intermediary does (simply put of course as there are different types of financial intermediaries.
    Just writing some notes for myself as I go.

    • @rsandilyav
      @rsandilyav 3 роки тому +1

      I think in a decentralised world, the collateral (ownership record of some physical or digital asset) for the borrowing will also have to be on the blockchain. Then the loan smart contract will automatically transfer the ownership of the collateral to the lender in case of a default. Wouldn’t that work? It would eliminate the whole “collection” process that conventional lenders employ and thereby reduce cost as well?

    • @rsandilyav
      @rsandilyav 3 роки тому +1

      Also, in a blockchain based system of finance, micro lending or fractional lending could be possible due to the nature of smart contracts. And lending can be for fractional periods with lenders lending for fixed 1 day or 2 day periods. Borrowers can then set the need for funds as a multiples of the contract period. Multiple lenders could come in at different times to ensure funds are available to the borrower through the period of their requirement. Much like overnight lending that banks employ among themselves today. (These are my notes too. I’m just speculating on the potential use case for financing. Need to look up DeFi if my speculations are feasible!)

      It cannot be stable when its lacking demand in the real economy. There is a lot of supply in the crypto market as well as demand but majority of that demand is from Retail speculators and Hodlers, outside the market crypto demand is basically 0. Fiat currency on the other hand has plenty of demand in the market and in the economy, that's why US Dollar is still king, every transaction in the global financial system is facilitated in USD, not by Bitcoin.

      On Bitcoin (Layer 1), the mining network (servers) charges a fee. The fee is used to secure the network with computing power and electricity. The fee amount is based on supply and demand.
      If you want to make transactions with virtually no fees, you use the Lightning network (Layer 2), which is built on top of the Bitcoin network (Layer 1). Layer 2 is less secure than Layer 1, but you get fast and cheap transactions for daily purchases.

It should be pushed as a way to make small physical payments to get the ball rolling. When the pizza shop owner has 30 k in crypto and can then buy a car with it, we'll get to a point of increasing normalization, adoption and widespread usage.

      If you understood the way money works and is created then you could see that it makes sense.

    Seriously , this was a presentation in December 2018? The speculative bubbler writing was on the wall at that point. This presentation is only about claiming that FIAT currency will fail. Bitcoin and token have all failed to replace FIAT currency. They are more likely to fail than FIAT currency at this point. Blockchain is here to stay but I would theorise that it will be buried underneath your typical service. Bitcoin is pathetically slow, transactions fees can be ridiculous and my money could have halved or doubled tomorrow. At this point bitcoin is only useful to speculate. Buy some and forget about them (not your private key though). 20 years later, you will either be rich, or not care at the fact that it failed.

      Probably a couple of decades ago. Bitcoin transactions average around 10 seconds and can take much longer for low value transactions - if they ever get processed at all. This is due to the variable transaction fee that can be charged by the miners. They choose the high dollar transactions first because the payer in such transactions is willing to pay a higher fee.
      And, at least Bitcoin, awards the successful miner with bitcoins as partial payment. This is automatic reduction in the value of the bitcoins as there are more bitcoins put into circulation without any reserves added to maintain the base value.
      Yes, Bitcoins are more volatile than the precious metals and there is nothing to guarantee that they could someday become absolutely worthless.
