This is the right way to use gorilla glue
😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah
Who’s here after the GORILLA GLUE GIRL INCIDIENT 😂😂
nope, i bought it and want to see further details about it
🙋🏾
you mean the perfect advertisement for gorilla glue?
"For a little insurance, I'm going to wrap the handle in Gorilla Tape"
You can just feel the Copyright ooze out of this video just as the glue oozes out of the wood XD
Does it work on hair?
And because of the glue and the tape price, did it worth? Buying just the wood, would be cheaper?
Just a tip, but some inexpensive hose clamps would also have worked really nicely to clamp this awkward handle shape (often the clamps will want to slip off or roll).
No wonder you broke the spade. It was not designed to be used as an axe.
😄😄😄
@Get Real And serial killers *never* leave home without it! It's too good a tool to split skulls. Ha, ha..
@@GNU_Linux_for_good are u a serial killer or something
@@horse7263 Gee - my comment was one year ago. I can't even remember why I've said this. But to answer your query: *no* [although.. I like horror movies - and I need to see torrents of blood every now and then, keeping me calm and pacified. grrrrrrrrrr.........]
My two buddies use it and now they are conjoined buds
Beautiful fix job! I bought Gorilla Glue when it first came out years ago and of course, didn't read the instructions. I thought glue is glue, right? How hard can it be? Well, I was gluing a TV stand together because the joints were weak, but I didn't use any water and it didn't set up and even after a week it was still kind of gooey and tacky. I actually took the time and read the instructions...I had to use water. So I sprayed water on it and yes, it expanded and was I shocked the next day with all the over-spill! I can vouch for the fact that it *_NEVER_* came apart. Good stuff! Now I need to buy some to hold a shower head in place. This time I know better. :)
From my experience with gorilla glue. it is stronger then the wood itself
+Wes Hamstra (Wes Hamstra Woodworking) Yeah, seems to be really strong stuff.
5 years later, some tiktok girl used it for her hairspray 😂
than*
I've never had much luck with gorilla glue, but I've never known about the water trick...nice tip.
The tape on the other hand is the absolute BOMB! We use it at work to hold down the pneumatic tubes in the road on traffic counters. I have completely sworn off duct tape in favor of gorilla tape.
+Pat F Thanks Pat...the water is the trick
Can you Spazoids relax for one f****** minute? First of all it's kind of a novelty item, secondly, I'm sure he put the edge on there for when he does actual delicate work and he seems like the kind of person who knows how far he can push a tool like that as a chopper. It's understandable that a young boy might go overboard and swing it at a tree. This video is merely showing the strength of Gorilla Glue anybody who would turn down an opportunity do a sponsored Gorilla Glue video is a fool.
So was it the glue or tape which held it together.I used to hold hockey sticks together with masking tape
Great shovel idea. Nice clearing tool.. glue good too
This glue has a very wide resonance in America. I recently bought it and tried it and it's very nice
Gorilla Glue makes a fantastic line of products... when used for proper applications.
Repairing a shovel handle with glue and tape is not a proper fix. More so, when that shovel is being used as an impact/cutting tool. There are many reasons cutting tools have a different style of handle (and connection between the handle and head) than a digging tool. That tool was never meant to be used in such a manner. Taking the connection rivets out and replacing the wooden shaft with a new one is the only way to properly repair the shovel -- that, and -- not using the tool improperly. Wranglerstar has many well done videos outlining the difference in handle styles/applications and how to replace them on his channel.
I really do find Gorilla Glue useful, and have enjoyed Jon Peters Art and Home video's in the past.
+Joe Weber I really wanted to comment, but you said it all!
Wow you really like to hear yourself talk don't you? His son broke it being a kid probably swing it at a thick tree branch or something similar. A tool that is perfectly capable of chopping through a few live roots and small branches and you know it, which is what I'm sure he does 99% of the time.
@@eurocannabist5337 this is the saddest comment ever, hope you realize that
The ending credit was right out of a Bob Vila show.
+David Dube (Oregon Gardening) I'll take that as a compliment!
Works perfect on metal to plastic. Wood to metal etc
Zombie shovel! Just in time for Halloween! Awesome Jon!
+RetroWeld Thanks!
I did something like that a while back but I used worm gear hose clamps to hold while the glue set. Good stuff when used properly.
+Steve McEntyre Good idea with the hose clamps
nice job buddy!
Surprised, never thought that fix would hold up. I'll give it a try, need to break something first though!!
Interested to see your sharpening method, do you use a grinder on all garden tools?
Thanks for sharing.
+Fernando Yáñez Thanks Fernando
So did the shovel break again?
hi I just want to know if gorilla glue stick 2 aluminums together. same it stick metal
I like the glue and tape combo! Great video. Thanks!
+Awesome Wood Things Thanks...it worked out really well
How much glue would you need to glue two surfaces of about 36" x 55"? It is for a car trunk liner.
Hallo, I think it is more durable and cheaper, to install a new stem.
+IngoderLiegeradler Pretty sure it's not cheaper.
If you have the tools (which, is literally a saw, a knife and a screwdriver), buying a brand new handle and fitting it is absolutely cheaper.
very good
I love your work
I hope became like you
If you can see on almost all the wood fails instead of the gue so if it was renforced with nails or screws it would be a different outcome thanks for sharing ....
The glue and tape are very expensive, but probably less than a new handle.
Grear thank you
For such a small diameter, that tape is terrible. The backing is way too thick and the adhesive is also too thick. With a bit of warm sunshine, that tape is going slip. It's good for larger projects but still has the tendency to slip off and leave a horrid goop.
CONOR THEDIAZDESTROYER I said what I said because that's been my experience. The backer is too rigid and the adhesive is too gummy. I've had gorilla tape come off from cold-air vent tube. Left a mess of goop that was nearly impossible to remove.
Do we wet both broken pieces and then apply glue?
Tommie T yes
Thanks
What is the reason for wetting the area being glued before applying the glue?
+Scott Reid Water raises the grain(opens the pores in the wood). Gorillia Glue expands and doing this extra step allows the glue to get just that much further into the wood for a stronger bond.
Jetro Visuals From what I understand it will work due to the moisture in the air, but I think it will miss out on the foaming action which allows it to force its way into every possible space making the bond stronger. Without the foaming action the bond won't be as strong as there will be unglued areas. I might be completely wrong though and I'm sure that if I am someone will correct me.
what is the use of a glue that expands ?????
Hi John. Great video as always :-)
I know, that this video is sponsored by gorilla...
but I don't see any reason to wrap the handle with a tape.
Tape gives only visual change rather than more durability ..but nice try :-)
+Rudolf Zaris The shovel was probably being swung like an axe when the break first occurred. Since Jon wants to continue using it that way, the Gorilla tape will hopefully strengthen the handle to avoid another similar break.
+Gary Kline I very much doubt the tape will do anything to improve the strength of the handle. At best, it will prevent it flying apart (possibly dangerously) the next time it fails.
The best solution is to just make a new handle.
Oh please come on let's not pretend that they didn't break that shovel on purpose just so that they could make this video.
A fatal mistake tessica Brown used for her hair
great idea, now i can make myself a brush wacker
I'll have to give the tape a try sometime.
It probably cost just as much for the glue and tape as for a new handle. GG is expensive.
How much did you make from this
Hi! Does this gg worked on pvc?
Haven't tried it yet Aaron
Don't use it on hair bro
Surely the irony is, unless you already have the tape and glue, it would cost more, to buy those two items, than a new shovel outright.
@@jumblesaleboo true
I would be laughing so hard if it broke while he was testing it at the end
Flex tape: Finally! A worthy opponent!
At one stage I thought I was watching an aerial being built 😀
nice outro!
thank you good idea
ah wahsh mah haer fifteen teims, et dont moev
So - we *have* to wear gloves, when gluing, for safety reasons?
Polyurethane adhesive foam is not wood
چسب پلی اورتان فوم بدرد چوب نمی خوره
Why not buy a new shovel?
Just watched this video and it had an advert for no more nails.
and I wouldn’t be paranoid about it breaking again and flipping back at me at all or kids, pets etc....
Damn nightshade!
Putting the Gorilla tape on there is just stupid and does nothing for strength. If that Bond fails you're going to get a harpoon right through your chest. He should have wrapped in something like fiberglass with epoxy. That would give the outer surface some more strength
Why in hell you put the tape ? If u planned to join both parts together nails and some silver tape works. We want to see the real test unsponsored !! Ty
Hahaha I watched this and my name is Michael
Man......That's really a lot of clamping to use that glue.......The expansion is a big drawback.
Did not mention why wet the handle before glueing
Asad lion because that’s in the instructions, it’s how G Glue is used.
So it's tougher than plants!
Why didn’t you just use hoses clamps ? Instead of all those other clamps, way easier, just saying.
Glue sucks it just foams up and breaks apart easy like foam spray. This is not glue its more like a liquid foam to fill holes with
У нас в беларуси нет такого скотча и клея от фирмы ГОРИЛЛА. Но думаю стоимость клея и скотча превосходит стоимость черенка длиной 70 сантиметров. Спасибо.
I tried this. It didn't work.
Some of these comments are ridiculous. Expansion is a drawback? It fills the gaps, and he sanded it out anyway. Too expensive? GG is like 5 bucks. Didnt clamp right? Seems to work just fine...
Jon - Everyone talks about the Glue ... It looks like Poison Ivy you are hacking???
I was hoping you would test the strength without the tape );
Why the tape?
If your going to use an angle grinder at least put on the guard it's there for a reason
Put the guard back on your grinder.
i didn't see him dig a hole with it
Garden spade
If you didn't already have the glue on hand it would be cheaper to buy a new handle.
2:05 No it's because he knows how crap the glue is XD
bit of glue and gaffer tape, fixer of world's. ...
I'm here because my key broke from the fob 😫 and Ford trying to charge me arm and leg to fix it
I tryed it on my action figure it didnt work.
Nichelle Myers for the first hour it doesn’t really have any strength.
Can I use it for a toilet seat ?
... Someone have to show You how to use it in proper way 😂😂😂
I wish you were my dad
@@jdb85 damn
Listen carefully at 2:02!
he does not trust the damm glue!
Creak haha
for the price of the tape and glue you could have bought a new shovel that glue costs a fortune :(
You needed about 5 more clamps
Why would anyone use Gorilla Glue on any other glue that you do not have to add water to it I bought some did not know you had to add water to it sounds like something a caveman would use its not modern
Just renew the wooden shaft.
Thats not a shovel, thats A spade
Why on earth call it a machete shovel, Its a tool not a weapon, unless you watched too many walking dead episodes. With respect here in England that is called a spade, shovels have angled sides. I know we call things differently on both sides of the pond ; but 'machete', that's a bit over the top...
grate
+Sajid Noor Thank you
would be cheaper to put a new handle
What about guitar making?
Мы просто заменили бы черенок на новый
Absolutely wrong. Glue on both sides is absolutely a MUST before assemble them together
You lost me at the taping part, not really reassuring.
Why not use wood glue, it is wood after all.
👏👍
I tested it is not interesting
