    Technically you should’ve kept the feather off the top because that was usually reserved for centurions and it didn’t go straight back-and-forth it went horizontal

    You clearly put a lot of effort and research into your costume. Kudos for that, I like very much what you did. The shoes are not quite caligae, more along the lines what civilians wore. But there is always room to improve, you really came a long way with your work.Two thumbs up for this project!

    • @paprskomet
      @paprskomet 2 роки тому

      Caligae were not the only footwear they used though.They always used several other types too,including fully enclosed shoes.Caligae appeared in insecure point in time but were clearly synonymous footwear of soldiers by the late republic and remained so until 1st half of the 2nd century.Already by early 2nd century they start to be(mostly) notably absent in archeological record while fully enclosed shoes turned to norm(so called Calcei),though in art(who is hovewer often anachronistic as artists commonly copied older works)they are depicted until late 2nd/earliest 3rd century.

      @@paprskomet That is true. There is an excellent video available from the channel "Imperium Romanum" regarding this topic. But I would say Caligae are the safest bet for this kit. No problem, there are plenty of tutorials.

      No is not heavy armor actually that a light armor is a lorica segmentata,other the real heavy one is a lorica hamata made a chain mail.

  • @kevans920
    @kevans920 5 місяців тому

    Having made lots of this armour in my younger years, this is a good try, a little research would have helped, the lorica is easy to make once you have the correct measurements, and understand the way the plates fit properly.

  • @jasonglover5989
    @jasonglover5989 3 роки тому +3

    Very well done! Some constructive criticism, if you’re looking for accuracy, I would recommend changing the cloak to blue, and rotate the plume 90°. Also, I couldn’t see if you had a gladius but if you do, or decide to add it carry it on your left. Hip. You could also get a good stick about a meter long, called a “vitis” and it was one of the more identifiable items a centurion had PLUS it’s probably pretty easy to make

    • @Kcb_creations
      @Kcb_creations  3 роки тому +5

      Ill look into that but i based the plume is supposed to be this way

    • @jasonglover5989
      @jasonglover5989 3 роки тому +1

      @@Kcb_creations the plume is supposed to be in the direction of ear to ear (horizontal?) for centurions. For regular legionaries it would be oriented front to back. Either way it looks great! Not trying to nitpick

    • @paprskomet
      @paprskomet 2 роки тому

      I would not insisted on blue color.This idea is mainly based on Fayum portrait of probable soldiers with their sword suspended on the side where Centurions possibly normally wore it(on their left).Problematically most of these portraits are from time where all soldiers regardless rank strated to wear their sword on their left and some of those blue cloaked persons had their balteus oriented also to the right.To make it even more complicated-even though most preserved depictions of late republic to late 2nd century shows common soldiers with their swords suspended on their right we also have exceptions where clearly common soldiers are shown wearing it oppositely.We also have some lower principales officers sometimes depicted with it on their left but also on their right.
