  • This Intamin prefabricated track (aka plug 'n play) wooden coaster opened in 2001 and was the first of its kind. Since then four others have been built: Balder at Liseberg (2003), El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure (2006) and T Express at Everland (2008) in South Korea. These are by far some of the most popular wooden coasters ever made, leaving many enthusiasts wondering why no parks have purchased one in the last six years.
    Colossos' 159 foot, 61° drop propels the train at speeds up to 68.4 mph over its seven airtime hills.
    Heide Park is located between Hamburg, Hannover and Bremen in Soltau, Germany.

    The screaming sound of the wood, when the train is on top of a hill is just wondefull. Also it has so much negative air time. My favorite roller coaster.

    This coaster has reclaimed the title of the highest wooden coaster in the world after the Son Of Beast was torn down at Kings Island. This coaster gives amazing airtime ride, wish there was one at Thorpe Park.

      Intamin built their first wooden coaster in 1981 at Six Flags Great America. Then they constructed their first prefabricated wooden coaster in 2001 at Heide Park (Colossus in this video!). Here are lists of wooden Intamin coasters at RCDB: rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mo=8368
      rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mo=8381
      Colossus in this coaster looks quite amazing and smooth compared to other wooden roller coasters made by other manufacturers. Nice video Coasterforce. :-)

      Hey guys, can we just leave Docktor Jim alone now! I'm sure he now knows that Intamin makes wooden coasters considering he posted his original comment back in December of 2014! We just can't know everything about roller coasters or manufacturers anyways! :-)

    Did they lower it's max height a bit. I could have sworn it's original height was 196 ft, 4 away from a hypercoaster. Now the database lists it as about 160 ft.

    The only problem I have with this type of coaster, is that they start to get to rough over the years, if you ride in a wheel seat (where a wheel is under the seat) you feel every imperfection, and also the seats are very uncomfortable, and they are hard to fit into when your over 200 pounds and 6 feet tall. ( not as fat as I seem lol )

    • @coasterforce
      @coasterforce  9 років тому +8

      RADZADproductions We've ridden all the Intamin prefab coasters every year from their opening through 2014 and they are nearly as smooth as they were day one. No other wooden coasters hold up as well as these. However, the seating is cramped and not suited for xxl+ riders.

    • @RADZADproductions
      @RADZADproductions 9 років тому +2

      Yes I agree, wooden coasters do not stay 100% smooth, also I always go second to last seat in el toro for tons of air time, so that just might be a bad seat.

      SoopaKoopaTroopa4494 Neither. At nearly 184 feet, T Express at Everland in South Korea is the tallest and Goliath at Six Flags Great America is the fastest with a top speed of 72 mph.
