Back onboard one of my all time favourite aircraft, the Airbus A340-600. Lufthansa bought a handful of these beauties back into service only a few months ago after a long grounding during the pandemic. I was almost certain they would never return, but here we are.
This was flight LH453 on July 12th 2022 filmed from seat 40A in the economy cabin.
Worth noting is that these aircraft have toilets downstairs. So in the middle of the aircraft there's a staircase from the galley leading to a small downstairs area with several toilets. Pretty cool actually. I did include a quick look around the area in the video.
Service wise, Lufthansa was nothing special it has to be said. There were no food choices like other carriers I fly with regularly. So just a single meal option for both dinner & breakfast which wasn't great. Also basics like soft drinks and wine with the meal were included, but all other drinks you need to purchase! On a longhaul flight. For a national carrier. The need to purchase snacks & drinks did shock me a little it has to be said.
Anyway on to the flight itself. On time departure from LAX we climb out towards the coast before turning left and back on ourselves over the top of Long Beach and climbing to 37,000ft. Passing Victorville plane graveyard. Over the top of Las Vegas. Before dinner was served and the sunset as we approached Canada. Into the night we crossed over Canada, under Greenland and over the Atlantic before sunrise. Then over Ireland, Wales, over the top of London before cloud cover blocks the view of mainland Europe before we start our descent into Munich.

Major respects to Lufthansa for keeping the good ol' A343 and A346 in the skies, and the B744
Totally agree mate 👏👏👏👏
Amazing! The A340-600 has got to be one of my favourite aircrafts and they are still flying!
A340-600....one lengthy aircraft 😍
Beautiful filming ❤❤
The power of quadjet is unique.Fantastic video
Still great to see the a340-600s flying
the A340. over 370 planes, over 20 years of service - and no fatality.
Lucky you! Flying the most elegant commercial aircraft ever made, Concorde set aside. Kudos to Lufthansa for still flying the beauty queen. My last flight on her was years ago with Etihad, unfortunately never since then. She was the quietest aircraft of her generation, still quieter than more recent twins like the 777.
The last-surviving A340 operator in Europe, wow she's still alive from the brink of the death. Lufthansa kept the old lady in the skies as well as the subsidiaries under their umbrella
It is a beautiful airplane.
swiss also uses a340 still
Incredible aircraft.
Great video, Superb landing 👍
Really epic video mate! Liked!
Beautiful brocken spectre on a cloud from 13:36
amazing!
Very good video . Especially the sunsets & the passing planes . Enjoyed watching
Great coverage of all the planes in Victorville and of Las Vegas.
Okay, I apologize in advance if I have the wrong person but I have to ask......are you the "dodgersfan" that I used to see on a UA-cam plane spotting channel that goes by the name "sk Airplanes" with Sergei??? If you're not the same person than once again I apologize for mistaking you with him.🙂
Thankyou so much love you
Cool video! I was on that flight to Munich 👍🏼
Wow ❤absolutely stunning video work! This has been one of my favorites from your channel! Well done my friend 😊❤

Stay safe and God bless always young man.....
Great Video ! Thanks ! Hope to take off and fly soon with Lufthansa.
Very nice!
make more of these!
Beautiful Landing. I am traveling in the same plane from Montreal to Frankfurt in few days.
Flew Lufthansa A340-600 MUC-LAX-MUC back in april 2007. Was seated in the middle of row 34. Brand new aircraft but no IFE,,,!
The 🐰

Who loves watching flight reports and planes taking-off like me?
wwwwwwwwww✴
In all of my my life I have never seen spoilers up hmm 🤔 while parked. The ailerons we're down then up which is normal.
@31:11....thats gotta be a beautiful B787.....love this bird...
No its embraer E175 i think
@@alperyavuz3335 E175 is mid size jet....B787 is classified as Jumbo jet....
Saw another Lufthansa a340 600 parked 11:33
God protect evry one
Several minutes into the flight I wanted to go to the cockpit and tell the captain that Germany is back the other way 😆 Unless he's going the long way around.
❤........🎉........❤..........😎
Takeoff, one word, is what planes do, take off, two words has a different meaning.
Departure of los angeles- US by in luftansa
I thought Lufthansa would have better food choices and a hot breakfast.
Yeah me too. Was quite disappointing tbh. Virgin & BA’s service offering in economy is much better.
The 🥧
@@TrainPlaneHub I guess I'll find out in 2023. Flying to and from ORD/Munich on Lufthansa both ways. A350 east bound and B787 WB.
Lufthansa are coasting on past glories. Their customer satisfaction ratings are way down and show little sign of improving
@@visionist7 I discovered that recently. Flew from ORD to MCH (and back). They've brought back some A340-600s (what we flew on both ways. Going TO Germany we had good food and good service, Coming back, The hot meal was acc eptable, but nothing to write home about, and the "late" snack before landing was inedible. Had good service, though
Crew war früher Flugbegleiter.
Strange to see the spoilers deployed at the parking stand
It’s often done in high temperatures on certain aircraft to keep parts of the wing cooler. Quite common in 30+ degrees to leave flaps deployed during turn arounds as well.
@@TrainPlaneHub what? No. Pilots wither forgot to stow or the pilots were asked to keep them up by maintenance crew. But this is not to keep the wing cool. 😂😂😂
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 Wrong. Very common on the Airbus family. I worked on them for 6+ years. If the temperature is over 30 degrees they're left down for the reason I've already said.
@@TrainPlaneHub hmm, leaving them down means flaps, not spoilers. I’m aware that some airlines leave the slats and flaps at config1.
Never heard anyone do this with spoilers.
I’ve flown the A340 for a few years now, never left the flaps down. I fly the A340 out of an airport that hits well over 40° during the summer. We fly mostly to places that are near 40°.
This Video, the airplane took of from LAX. Fuel doesn’t come from trucks , (fuel in trucks can warm up) but is pumped from underground tanks and stays cool. The cool fuel is way more effective than a few spoilers.
Previous pilots forgot to retract or were asked to keep deployed so maintenance could look at it. But that’s just my opinion. Maybe Lufthansa does weird, nonstandard stuff that makes no sense.
Nice aircraft. Too bad it is such a gas hog.
The Lufthansa food offering looks awful!
Flying sucks! I'm glad I don't have to travel and fly anymore. I can kick back in my easy chair and watch other wretches deal with the misery of air travel.
So you’ve taken your time to comment this irrelevant, uninteresting crap on my post why?
@Train_PlaneHub because they've got nothing better to do with their time. We already know that flying is an activity they don't participate in, and by taking time to comment that, there could be many more things, and therefore, a lot of spare time.
@@boeinga370 ?
@@TrainPlaneHub Why post an irrelevant uninteresting crappy video on social media and not expect comments both good and bad? Are you thin skinned and can't handle criticism? BTW. flying really does suck.
why were speed brakes deployed?
I believe it could be due to movement on flight control After engine shut down with little hydraulic pressure or it could potentially be for maintenance
