Been diving mine for about a year. Air & Nitrox. Dig the layout and mods that can be made so I can see everything I want and nothing I don't on a single screen. And, of course, shortly after buying this one, Shearwater came out with the Peregrine TX w/AI. Which worked out perfectly as the point of trying this one was to gift it to my wife once she received her OW cert (which she has! woohoo!) and I would upgrade to something else. Well, my upgrade is going to the be the same dive computer just with AI...because I'm a numbers nerd and like that kind of stuff. Great content, by the way! S/F - RWB
It's part of the "Cyberpunk Vol1" pack from Triune Films. They have some pretty good stock music. I'm a sucker for the cyberpunk/synthwave stuff if you hadn't already noticed, lol.
@@DiveVibe me too, I know Shearwater is great, but I just dont count on some "bluetooth connection" type computers underwater, I also like gauge better + to have transmitter its additional gadget to think about, is it charged or no. So gauge all the way + transmitter doesnt exclude gauge, so from safety perspective you should have gauge
We were going with a buddy who's just starting his cave journey, so we thought we'd keep it simple and travel light. It's always good to work the fundamentals. I always love my ccr, but plane old sidemount is good clean fun, lol.
They just came out with a slightly more expensive version that does! The peregrine tx. I'll go more into it for the review, but i've been diving it for a few months now and it has been flawless. I almost want one of these with perdix level features so I can use it as a backup with my CCR. I just like the form factor and the rechargeable battery.
Side note: Can this work as an entry to tec level computer for a more budget minded individual? Gotta save anywhere possible, but I won’t be sacrificing the Shearwater name.
I'm all about saving money, in tech diving you have to. That or be independently wealthy, I hear that's a good way to do it. Lol Yes it can definitely handle technical diving, but it DOES NOT do helium or CCR. So if either of those are in your future, it may not be the right choice unless you have another use for it like I do.
I’m stuck with open circuit sidemount so this sounds like it will work just fine. I’m wanting it primarily for advanced wreck. If I win the lottery, or get hit by a truck and live through it, I will definitely switch to CCR!
Shearwater's packaging is useless. They are of no use when you attach the wristband to the dive computer. The cases are of no use. I had the original Peregrine - a completely useless device in the Shearwater world, would have directly released the TX model. Next, I got a Perdix 2, the screen went haywire, just flickering lines, less than a year, currently under warranty repair, and when the Perdix broke, I had to buy something quickly. Teric was the only option available. I was on a diving trip and I would have liked to buy the cheaper Tern TX, but I couldn't find it anywhere. For some reason, I have almost only bad experiences with the best brand on the market.
@@EnergiZeScuba Perdix spent over a week at a local shop before leaving for Canada. They estimate that it will be there for more than 4 weeks, which, considering the travel time, means that I won't be diving with it this summer. The Teric I had to buy in Singapore cost 30% less than in Finland... (Scuba Warehouse).
@@catchbay That sucks! Our dude here in the states is awesome, Rich from Divetronix. He has always been there for me when I needed him, no matter what. That dude rules, a true hero of the dive industry.

Nice! Looking forward to footage from your trip.
Random question, outro music... what is it?!

@@DiveVibe oh definitely noticed. Oh snap, used to watch these geys ages ago (Film Riot). Haha appreciate it, thanks!
@@AnthonyRGarcia Any time bro.
How do you prep for a dive the day of the dive? New environment, not your normal configuration.
Why not the tx Version of peregrine?
@@EnergiZeScuba I just prefer guages personally.

I'll take a crack at it tomorrow and reply to this comment. Thanks for the reminder
@cj4984 Finally got time to try and model that part. Do you have a printer? I can send the file to your email.
@@DiveVibei do not unfortunately, i’m certain i could find a friend with one

Interested in why the trip will be OC, why is CCR not an option? A walk through video of the kit to be used is always interesting.

I’m sold! I love my Teric, but I want something with bungee and a larger display. Does this work with the Swift AI transmitter?

Man that's weird. I've had my petrel 2 since 2014 and it did a couple dives a day 5 days a week for several years and is still kickin.
Sounds very unlucky :(
