I waited for my first ever drysuit, Fourth Element Argonaut with sitech silicone seals for 16weeks. 😅🙈 Absolutely love it! I just did 20 dives over 5days at work, relatively shallow reef dives at Great Barrier Reef and with rashie and tights I was pretty darn comfortable even if water temperature was about ±26c and air temperature clos to 30 😁
This suite has been on my radar since I signed up to get my open water cert. During my 2nd check dive I got to dive with a few people doing there dry suit dive. And it just so happens that my dive buddy that I never met before had bought this exact suit. So naturally I had a lot of wisdoms. He mostly could not answer them because.. well hey this was his first dry suit! I was informed by him that he was able to take advantage of a sale ( believe it was around Christmas time last year) and got a super discount. All this being said thank you for the video about this suit! I can not wait to do my dry suit course in a few weeks. Then purchase hopefully this hollis dry suit at a bargain this winter!! I dive with the hollis m1 and I am in love!!
Great video as always. I loved that intro. "The drysuit isn't a just a fancy dive garment, and a straight up chick magnet. It's a vessel that defies the harsh realities of cold water diving. Your armour against the frigid embrace of the abyss." I would be interested in hearing about your story of being left at sea. I've never had that experience myself and I can imagine the sense of dread it would bring. Happy to hear your mindset has been adjusted to always ensure your safety and visibility at sea as a result.
Great video & I agree as a DX-330X suit owner! The silicone neck seals are a big bonus compared to latex, which tear easily. For the price, there isn't much better IMO.
Interesting comments. I've owned many drysuits throughout my diving career and the 300X is probably the worst. After about 6 months of use the suit started to leak on one of the arm seams. A short time later most of the material seams were not watertight. The suit eventually went back to Hollis as irreparable, and I replaced it with a Fourth Element Argonaut.
Just picked mine up yesterday! After fighting with my old White's Fusion (pre-Aqualung Fusion) since last winter, and an interesting AN/DP course with a leaky/flooding drysuit, it was finally time to commit. I really wish there was an option for a relief valve, or a blanked hole off the rack, but besides that I couldn't find any drawbacks on paper either. (Whenever they finally do go, I may try an find some tri-lam socks for a replacement though) Excited to take it through the paces this weekend on a few shakedown dives!
Hell yeah! I had a whites fusion back in the day as well. You're gonna like this a lot more. A relief valve really isn't super difficult to install. Dive right in scuba has some good videos. You can get a punch that's sized for the whole you need. Throw a block of wood under it so you dont cut the backside of your suit and smack the punch with a hammer. Then all you need is to make a little gasket (depending on the model) and you're good to go. Definitely measure twice when you're deciding where to punch the whole. I'm definitely doing it to my suit at some point. Thanks Briton! Enjoy your suit!
My bare x-mission is absolutely the best drysuit I have ever tried. I used Hollis suits but I hate their socks and how inflexible the material was at times
I swear by Hollis. I have got Hollis regs and fins etc and they are excellent 👌🏻, I will be buying this drysuit very soon too. I am from England and I got a few funny looks about buying Hollis because everybody over here uses Apeks brand. Some people look at me like I am a traitor not using Apeks because it is an English brand 😬😂.
Ok. We NEED to hear your “Lost At Sea” story. Consider it a public service to share your cautionary tale. Boat (or even shore) separation is always a possibility. Asides from being ready gear-wise (I already carry - on every dive - a couple of whistles, a signal mirror, three lights, a DSMB with spool, a strap to keep a buddy close at hand, a Nautilus Lifeline [old version with voice] and even an orange fluorescent dye marker) but mentally. What should we be prepared to experience? Thanks for your great videos.
Hey man I am interested in getting one of these but the sizing chart stops at size 11 mens shoe size but I wear 13. Are the neoprene socks forgiving for larger feet?
Hey bro. No fear! I have the 3xl and the socks are the same as the 2xl (they actually say 2xl on them) and I wear a size 14 normally. I use size 15 hollis canvas boots, the suit doesn't come with boots. You can also use neoprene boots with them, that's a pretty popular option. Email me at divevibemedia@gmail.com if you have anymore questions. UA-cam doesn't like to notify me when I get replies.
I own this drysuit, personnaly I love it. But being tall and skinny ... it can be baggy in summer time, but cold water diving with extra layer the fit is great!
Yeah I could see that. I know a lot of people in Florida will do a "cave cut" if they dont plan on using outside of Florida caves, which aren't really that cold. Thanks for watching fam!
I'm still a big fan. Everything is holding up great. I had it in some chilly spring water today and I was cozy and dry. Someone said they've seen issues with the velcro wearing on other parts of the suit, but I think that was an older version. I've seen no sign of the velcro abrading the suit and im watching for it.
I was looking at getting one of these for many of the reasons you said (except height - no worries for me there) and because they seem available in Australia. I think you can also get it with pee valve? Not sure - but I think that's a compulsory feature. I ultimately ended up spending more and going with a made to measure Santi - just got the shipping notice for that a few hours ago.
You should talk to Jacob Childs about a collab when you want to tell your lost at sea story. He shouldn't be hard to get a hold of - or reply to me and I can help with that.
I’ve watched a good handful of your vids but totally missed that you’re out of Hawaii - and teach CCR - specifically the sidewinder. How do I contact you and become your next student?
Why is your tank always so fricking low?? That cant be right. It looks so awkward. And how do you even perform the shutdown drill with the valves located on the middle of your backbone??
Lol, maybe it looks low because im 6'5"? I can touch the back of my head to my 1st stage while diving, easily. When im in backmount doubles, my head is almost resting on the isolator, so im not sure what you're talking about. Who does valve drills while diving single tank? You're just shutting off your only gas supply. Even if you had a massive gas leak, you wouldn't do that.
@@DiveVibe OK, fair enough. Actually we do practice valve shutdown also on single tanks and my buddy once had a real need to execute it. We're talking cold water diving and reg freeze freeflow situation. So you close the valve, open to take one big breath, close it up again, in case you're alone, lost buddy. Or shutdown and switch to buddy breathing to ascend slowly and do your safty stop properly, no rush or stress.
@miks8 lol, good point. Most training agencies would have you breathe from the freeflowing reg until you get to your buddy's alternate or your redundant gas supply (if solo), or just ascend. If you can shut down the valve and reset it, even better. Thanks for the comment. Take care!
This is an OK suit. It doesn't compare with SF Tech, Seal, or Santi. This suit has a HUGE problem. These velcros damage the drysuit sewings. I do not recommend this dry suit. It is just a matter of time to start having issues.
Chick magnet 🤣 So I'm full on dry suit CCR now and I don't feel like a chick magnet... in fact, when I put my head through the hole I feel what I imagine it's like being born 😃 Florida is good my friend... but you should come to Mexico... the deep part, not the tourist area.

What’s the update? Looking my at buying one myself. So after a year how do you like it?
@boggycreekmafia8124 Still going strong! I hardly dive wet anymore.

Nice! Love My Fusion Sport though.

Mine got leaks on the wrists after maybe 10 dives
Then after maybe 50 rides the crotch seam started leaking really badly
Dang that sucks. Haven't had any issues with mine.
Just picked mine up yesterday!

Glad you're stoked on your suit! It's awesome when you find a piece of gear that really works for you.

I’m dry suit guy, or I used to be. Watching you suit up in Hawaii was unintentional hilarity. I live in spring country FL
Looool
Right? pnw dry diver here, so far a 3 mil and beanie have even enough for the tropics 😅
Hey, good rundown, thx for the review.
No problem! Thanks for watching!

Dude, that suit is dope!!
Just came across your channel. Good stuff. Are you diving in a sidewinder?
Thanks! And yes I am.
Any updates?

Shoot me an email at zach@jacksdivinglocker.com!
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Great review, so thanks. Noticed Doug Bishop rocking the same suit. Hollis doing UA-camr giveaways? 👍
Thanks! I bought it, but I did get a pretty sweet discount, lol.
Cold water? Corals? It is truly dope! :)
Why does no one in America know about Ursuit Oy ??????
Even though im based in Philippines im about to get into the dry suit game
Hell yeah!

Are you gonna dive eagles nest?
At some point I really want to. This trip I'm headed to JB to finish a class with Edd.

Thanks!
Had mine for a couple years of pretty hard use, it's been nothing but reliable and pretty sexy looking
I am wide with big neck
lol im wide skinny neck
That, was, a lot of words.
Loool. I talk a lot
The BDM zipper on my very expensive abyss suit got fucked up after only 3 weeks by a meth head on the job site. YKK gang namsayn?

P-Valve?
Just installed one, lol. Diverite low profile, works like a charm.
Dry suit-no hood? Not cold.
Lol i was sweating my ass off. Gotta train though.
Terrible company to deal with
