As someone who recently moved to Weir, that odd pronunciation was spot on, especially for jokes based on questions like "Where are you from?" I now can say things like, "How did you know I live there?" Lol😅
As a Mississippian, milk?!? Oh, and for the lightning round having the state tree on there would have been extra hilarious (it's also the magnolia [specifically magnolia grandiflora])
Gonna have to take a point from Adam's team for the way he butchered the name "Belzoni"...but, since today is his birthday, I guess he can get an extra point.
I was in Mississippi for the first time a few years back. Good times. I was struck, though, by how many people, when finding out I was NOT from MS, increduously asked me, "Why oh why did you come HERE?!" Started to think it was some kind of MS in-joke. Still fun folks!
I once pulled up to a guy in Tupelo and asked directions to Elvis's birthplace. Referring to my out of state license plates, he asked, "You didn't drive all the way down from New Hampshire just to see this, did you?"
I was born in Tahlequah, OK. I always get a chuckle when people mispronounce it. Its actually one of the easier towns to pronounce here in the "Sooner State."
I'm surprised that Tupelo, Pontotoc, Oktibbeha, or Nettleton weren't on the list because nobody knows how to pronounce those when you call them. Especially Pontotoc I get a kick out of hearing the people on the other end stammering.
Actually the first lung transplant was done in Kentucky by my Grandfather in 1931 during prohibition. It was not successful, and there were parts left over.☹
Beer also wouldn’t be an option b/ there are dry counties splattered throughout MS. You also can’t buy any alcohol whatsoever on Sundays…not even at the gas station or the grocery store. Note: The “song” of how to remember the spelling of Mississippi is actually used in school to make it easier to remember and learn. IDK why
Friendly suggestion? Turn the table 45 degrees to put the corner between 2-person discourse. Any show (!) that does single plane, side-by-side direct interaction... it's super awkward.
I would love to see how ppl would pronounce some of the place names here in Oregon. Willamette Valley, Yachats, Yaquina Bay, Chemawa (Google maps mispronounces this place), Dechutes River, Champoege Park, Chinook. Many Native American names here for places.
Yep, pronouncing it the way Adam did just proves he’s an imposter..The fact that his pronunciation made it all the way through editing, that’s even more sketchy..
Near Kosciusko is my hometown Noxapater. Even though not a city, it would be interesting to see if they could pronounce Nanih Waiya (the mother of Choctaw and Chickasaw according to Native America legend).
@@skydiverclassc2031 LOL. I thought about that after I asked, but I didn't do it. But now that you say that, I remember them saying it. LOL I really should learn to pay more attention.
Mississippi fact, Mississippi comes bottom in the United States at almost everything, another Mississippi fact, Mississippi comes below several quote third world countries in everything. Last Mississippi fact Mississippi has the largest population of Black people in the United States and has never had a Black statewide elected official. I could go on, and on and on.
Also, MS and AL were cotton gins, tree mills, factories, & highly agricultural states. When companies moved a lot of those industries out of country, several towns ended up with little industry. Also, there have been decades of politicians who only vote funding and industry into certain parts of the state. Even now, the MS governor refuses to accept federal funding for MS school kids' lunch programs for the summer. He even refused to use federal funds to help the water crisis. So the federal government had to step in to fix the situation. The governor would rather argue with the Jackson mayor over the airport (and land surrounding it)...and use the capital city of Jackson as hostage...while funding the metro areas around it...ridiculous when a state capital should be the best functioning city in the state.
My parents live near a road called "Minabukit" I could never figure out why it's spelled "Minnow Bucket" on the sign. We don't mind hurting English either ;)
As a fellow Louisiana resident who is from Louisiana, it confused me when they said the magnolia is Mississippi's state flower seeing as it's our state flower too
Some other fun MS town names are: Keownville, Itta Bena, Gautier, Hushpuckena, Bogue Chitto, Picayune, Saucier, Escatawpa, Sylvarena, Sabougla, Dumas. What's your favorite MS town name?
Tchula is one of my favorites. I worked in Cleveland for a while, but never did learn to say Huspuckena. Grew up in Greenwood so I feel kinda disappointed in myself
Gautier doesn't sound anything like it's spelled, other than the G at the beginning. I highly suspect the original residents spelt it that way to confuse travelers....
I’m from Toccopola MS (which is close to Yocona) and we pronounce it Yocney 😂 like there’s a Camp Yocona but no one pronounces it ‘Yocona’. It’s Camp Yocney.
Well, Talia, you drug him to the right answer as hard as you could. ;-) So, Mississippi and Tennessee have the same state bird? Guess that's okay, seeing as jow both have three sets of double letters. 'Course, Tennessee's are not all consonants, so ours are a bit better. :-) 8-)
Not even a Mississippi mud pie or a jar of Tupelo honey for a prize?
Happy Birthday, Adam.

Milk??? MILK? It should be sweet tea.
Seriously! I was born and bred in MS and never knew Milk was even an option!
It needs to be Sweet Tea! Sugar with just a small amount of tea flavor
That was my guess
It should be sweet tea. And don’t even like it, but I live in the south.
Weirdly most of the state beverages are milk. I think the dairy industry is behind it.
We lived in Jackson for 12 years and I always said the state bird of Mississippi was the mosquito. Those things are everywhere! Lol
Unrelated but fun fact: I actually live in a small town in Louisiana that means mosquito in French
We grow some bigguns here, don't we!!
i have a postcard that says that
I'm from Lake, MS! There are places I've never been in my Native state!😮 We have have an awesome state! The more I learn it's awesome ❤❤❤❤

The REAL nickname is the hospitality state! Why else do you think we are the only state to have a Miss Hospitality Mississippi pageant? 😉😀
Oprah is from Kosciusko, MS. Morgan Freeman is from Clarksdale, MS. Elvis is from Tupelo, MS.
Kind of fitting that Morgan Freeman is from a town with "Clark" in it's name
Happy B-Day Adam. And catfish is just the BEST!!!
Gonna have to take a point from Adam's team for the way he butchered the name "Belzoni"...but, since today is his birthday, I guess he can get an extra point.
Cannot believe they did not ask them to pronounce Kosciusko 😂
I came here to say this! It's pronounced bell-zone-ah. No one ever gets it right. Lol!
I know it’s a county, but they should have done Oktibbeha.

When I moved from Dallas to Mississippi, they're still like why?!? I love it here. My family came for my wedding this weekend and they loved it here ❤
i think it kind of is, it’s so rare to meet someone not from ms here unless you’re going to one of the major colleges

Wow! I’ve lived in MS my whole life and I’ve never heard of some of those towns! 😮
Happy birthday, Adam! I hope there's cake. Or at least nanner pudding.
Talia is so gorgeous. Always good to see her in bits.
Always fun videos! 👍🏻 And Milk? So odd! But hey drink up Mississippi! Fight that osteoporosis. 🤣
The southern foods got her.
What? No Kiln in the town section? Happy Birthday Adam!

Not many of those left in Mississippi

Barq's Root beer is FROM Mississippi 😮.
🤦🏼♂️
My daughter lives in Southern MS and she drinks tea all day. Can't stand milk. 😏
They should have used Shuqualak or Kosciusko for the towns. Good luck guessing how to say those town names.

Milk makes more sense when you realize how big the dairy industry was in Mississippi until the 80's and 90's
You know Scottish man has lived here awhile when he said 'where about" on the Oprah question
We're also known as the Hospitality State, but the milk question threw me a bit. I could have sworn it was sweet tea
I guessed Barq's Root Beer.
@@cisium1184 That would make more sense than milk, since it was founded in Biloxi
Sweet tea is south Carolina
Me too. I guessed yea first
I knew it was wrong when they said ice tea instead of sweet tea.

I was rooting for the town of “Kosciusko” to be pronounced. Maybe next time. It’s a goody! Happy Birthday Adam!
We have a bridge going into Williamsburg named after a Kosciusko in Brooklyn, NY.
