That was funny, educational, and Ryan was adorable as usual. It is cool to find out the Stetson hat originated in MS. Mary Patterson and Liz are two people I could hang out with.
That last one, imagine identifying the toilet seat first, then finding something mushy in the middle, bringing your hands out to find something brown on your fingers, then for just a moment thinking "would they really do that to me?"
I can only imagine feeling a toilet seat, then something gooey, then pulling your hand out to find them brown. There is no way I am licking my fingers! 😟
Stetson hats were NOT invented in Mississippi. John B. Stetson opened his first hat shop in Philadelphia. After inventing the cowboy hat following a trip out West, he built the world’s largest hat factory in Garland Texas. It is most likely that he invented the cowboy had when he was recuperating in Missouri from an illness he got out West. There is still a Stetson hat factory in St. Joseph MO.
Digging around looks like a few websites mention him perfecting his craft making hats in Mississippi, so maybe they got it from that? But yeah not finding anything about any of his creations actually originating from Mississippi so not sure.
And it still their but renamed Stetson hat and boots museum and the manufacturing part is still in tack at it was over a hundred years ago and yes Stetson invented the cowboy that we know today but did yall know that the Ten Gallon and the Dobie came way be for John B. Stetson came along and the Ten Gallon was made in Jackson Mississppi. And the too were call a cowboy hat.

The smell of Pine Soil makes me gag. I was in Charleston, South Carolina for hurricane Hugo. In the morning after the storm passed, about 1/3rd of the pine trees were snapped off. The whole area smelled like Pine Sol. Yuk. Nice ring, MP.

According to the information on the US patent office site Stanley J, Samuels of Philadelphia, Pa. invented and patented the earliest soft toilet seat in 1955. His patent was something that was totally new. So the credit goes to Samuel for the invention of the soft toilet seat. However, David Harrison of Mississippi made improvements to the seat design but he did not create it; therefore, the soft toilet seat is a northern invention and not from Mississippi.
Who did the research for this? The stetson hat was created in Philadelphia by John B. Stetson after traveling west because of his health. The Teddy bear was created in Brooklyn, New York, by Morris Michtom and his wife Rose after they read a news article about Teddy Roosevelt refusing to shoot a bear in Mississippi that had been beaten and tied to a tree.
I tried googling to see how they even came up with the stetson or the teddy bear thing and I just can't find anything at all. The creator of the stetson POSSIBLY first started doing hat stuff in Mississippi but everyone agrees he didn't make the stetson there.
@@jenntegt Google John B. Stetson. He had tuberculosis and went out west because his doctor told him that he was dying. As he traveled west he got the idea for a wide brim hat because of the hot sun. He may have passed through Mississippi but there's no mention of it.

Dennis Harrison invented the soft toilet seat cover, Columbus MS. Teddy bear originates from a story of Theadore hunting in 1902 in MS. The genesis of the "teddy bear" is from a story of a MS hunting trip, after a long chase, beaters tied an exhausted bear up, so Theadore could shoot it, he declined said it would not sporting to shoot it. As time passed the bear he refused to shoot got younger and cuter. Refusing to shoot bear did not save the bear, because as he was leaving Theadore said " shoot the bear, put hm out of his misery " besides the long chase, the bear was probably full of wounds from the dogs.
Then Mississippi at least has a claim of being closely associated with Barqs, even if their root beer didn't originate there. Unlike the Stetson claim, apparently. Either way, super fun video

Stretching it a bit to say the teddy bear was invented in Mississippi. You could say the beating, torturing and killing of a bear in Mississippi inspired the name and that’s about it.
Three of these are actually Yankee products from NYC and Philly. The Teddy Bear was invented in Brooklyn, NY but inspired by a hunting trip Teddy Roosevelt had in Mississippi, but are a New York Yankee creation. As another post mentioned, Stetson was started in Philly, and while he first mass produced his famous Stetson hat in Missouri (Not Mississippi), he created it before he went out west. And the Cushion Toilet seat was invented in Philly as well, specifically Patent , Serial No. 528,079 1 Claim. (Cl. 4237) and Serial No. 329,543. So sorry It's a Southern Thing, you try to claim 3 Yankee products as Southern, specifically Mississippi.
