That “even me lord” part gets me every time. People dogged Whitney and made fun of her addiction, people didn’t know what that woman was going through but Mary did which is why this performance was so strong.

That part and the fact , Whitney invited Mary to sing with her on 99 Divas … and Mary returned the favor this year when Whitney was going through her stuff with the media etc. that’s real genuine love and sister hood 🥺🥺 Whitney & Mary were definitely getting their praise on they needed that moment 🙏🏾💜

Something about the fact that you can see Whitney's black silhouette in the background of the stage while she sings "I feel like an angel" just touches and breaks my heart at the same time because she's longer here anymore. She is an angel, and metaphorically it makes me feel like she'll always be singing in the background of our hearts.

Rumor has it: Ja was supposed to come out with Mary. Although it was VH1 Divas, Ja was HUGE at this time. But he had two obligations. Which is why Mary had to rap/sing his part because they had rehearsed. Nippy being the person she is heard about it and told Mary she would cover 2hrs before the performance. They never rehearsed together which is why the energy is so organic. People like to weaponize them for their past and say they were high. That moment was organic impromptu artistry.

I first heard this song the day the doctor told me I miscarried my baby, that was my rainy day. The sunshine came when I found out the doctor was wrong, he is now 18 years old. And what a phenomenal duet! It doesn't get much better than Whitney and Mary, two of my favorites. Much love to Whitney, in heaven.

@@kw9568 I woke up bleeding and my doctor ran a test and said if the numbers(?) dropped, it meant I miscarried. Well, she called me at work and told me the bad news. 2 weeks had passed before she would see me. I thought I had a dead child inside me for 2 weeks! She did an internal ultrasound and my boy's heart was pulsing and his little arms were moving. She said she didn't understand, the test was accurate. I didn't know if my husband was going to hug her or strangle her. Definitely some mixed emotions. I later read that the hormone she tested is supposed to reduce around that time of any pregnancy (I was 11 weeks). So.....her license should be yanked! My husband wanted to sue but I was afraid the stress would have been too much, I wasn't losing my boy again. He is now 20 and has autism and is the absolute light of my life! This song was dedicated to me the day I was told about the miscarriage, I still tear up when I hear it. Bittersweet. God blessed me with this beautiful child and I will always cherish him. Love and prayers to you, be blessed.🙏

@@terrellwilliams2240 dude I know Mary stats just like you. Read what I said … Mary always had the support of BLACK radio, and she always had her singles chart on R and B from her very first single (multiple times a year) . However she never had the support from the WHITE audience until she got on stage with Whitney. And it branched her off to duets with sting, bono, Elton and got her FIRST pop single for “family affair”. I’m not going through which interview she said it in, but let google be your friend
