Gender is just kinda a feel you have. As a young girl I ran with a pack of boys, stomped in the mud, got into play-fights and loved video games. I had no dolls and refused to wear dresses. But I still know I'm not trans. I don't feel uncomfortable in my body or in the way people perceive me. I don't want to be seen as a man. I'm just a less-stereotypical woman. It's really all about how you WANT TO BE SEEN. Everyone deserves to have that want to be validated.
Addition: And the beauty of childhood is that those boys I ran with considered me one of their pack, no question. I was so sad when I hit puberty (and moved) and suddenly boys wouldn't come within 10 feet of me because cooties or whatever. My peers started to look down on me for not conforming. I wasn't allowed to be what I wanted to be anymore because of stupid societal norms, and that made me so upset and angry... Huh, doesn't that sound familiar? I understand a fraction of what trans people feel through these experiences. I think we all can, to a point, if we just open our hearts a little.

It's reasoning like this that me feel like I can never really identify as a 'man' in the sense that a lot of people seem to expect. If you're just validating the words that I say then are you really understanding me? It just feels like it lacks a sense of foundation.
This is why I like religions like Christianity. If there's a creator that created us for a purpose then I feel like that's something I feel I can base my identity on. But this system of mutual validation for the sake of validation that your comment suggests just seems so empty to me.

The funniest thing about this argument to me is that I'm a trans man and I still like wearing dresses. The clothing I wear has nothing to do with my gender identity, the only reason I dress more masculine is that I feel a need to "prove myself" to cis people. I dress a lot more feminine around close friends because I like it, and I can trust them to see the real me beyond the clothes I wear.

I'm pretty sure that if I was a cis girl I'd be a tomboy verging on soft butch, and as a trans girl I see no reason to live any differently.
When I was trying to settle on living as a very feminine man I kept a lot of the more masc elements of my personality hidden. I felt like I had to scrape and scramble to claim every last bit of femininity that society would allow me, to get something close to what I needed. Now that I'm just a woman I don't feel that need.

Although they probably mean it like "those people are narcicists", the thought itself is quite interesting. I mean, if you think about it, we all are developed into a species that is above nature and have the ability to shape our surroundings into what we desire. Not like going BOOM and turn a rock into a car with the snap of a finger, but in the matter of creating. Story-writers are a good example for that, since, through words, they can create a world of their own, where they act as an omni-potent-being able to manipulate that world through writing, using their mind and their creativity to shape the reality of this world one might reduce to mere fiction when, in fact, it is a form of meaningful art.

I don't remember what it was exactly off the top of my head, but I just figured that his content just wasn't for me. One of his videos popped up in autoplay a few days back and I figured that there was nothing else showing up on my homescreen, so why not give him a chance. Worst case, I'll be vindicated in my previous decision. But, honestly, I've got to say that he's had some of the most nuanced and based takes I've heard in a hot minute. If the whole anarchist thing isn't a bit, I still disagree with that, but that's really just a difference of opinion. When it comes to the facts and tearing down conservative fearmongering/disinformation, I can genuinely say that I haven't seen a video from him that hasn't been spot fucking on. Glad that I've been proven wrong about my previous misconceptions and that I have a new incredibly based content creator to watch.

I've noticed a lot of transphobes seem to have no understanding of mental health in general, like if your feelings aren't perfectly "normal" then you're mentally ill, and being mentally ill means you have utterly lost all contact with reality and should not be trusted on any of your internal perception, or perception in general. There's a lot of batman insane asylum level understanding going around.

Our view is not that a person who has dysfunctional thoughts or feelings in some degree is completely irrational and should not be trusted to make any rational decisions, but rather that these affected people should not undergo procedures to act on said dysfunctional thoughts or feelings.
Similarly to how we don’t allow doctors to amputate the hand of someone simply because they requested it, believing that it is not their hand, we also shouldn’t allow doctors to debollock men who think they’re women or add them to women who think they’re men. These operations do nothing but sterilise them, and the hormone treatments are putting a strain on the market, leaving them less available for people who actually do need them.

In Catholic school, (I'm forced there by my mother) we were shown a video of this man talking about prayer in our religion class. I don't remember what he was talking about exactly but like, this is the exact same guy. Same background, same unsettling eyes that look like they're going to drop me off at the doorstop of god in the worst way possible, it's him and we watched this guy on Friday 😭 I'm anticipating the homophobia and transphobia from my school, wish me luck

As someone who recovered from anorexia it gets so frustrating when people compare it to being trans :( Anorexia and bulimia are self-rejecting and dangerously self destructive coping mechanisms for deeper issues, while trans people seeking care are simply seeking self-affirmation. Anorexia and bulimia kill people without intervention while the typical thing that harms trans people are transphobes.

As a Trans guy, I know what it feels like to be forced to be a girl.
For me, it felt like being naked and oppressed and uncomfortable.
    Point blank.
My parents sexualized me and always told me that pokemon t shirts weren't going to attract boys to like me like that. My mom would be easily angry if I tried to dig a fox hole in the backyard and got dirt on the dress she forced me in.
Even as an adult, the minute I did something that my parents didn't like (tattoos, piercings, cutting or dying my hair a way I liked..) "No boy is gonna like you cause you did __________." Excuse me? Why do you care what I like or what I do? And why are you so worried about me attracting a man?
Well my parents were crazy and only want me to pass on my genetic code and give them grandkids. My mom died and she asked me before she died if I would have kids. Like no. Eww. Wtf?
And since then I'm no longer able to have kids due to removing all of my reproductive organs. So now my dad and family want to cut me out cause I'm "weird" and "strange" and "crazy".
So since Mr. Priest here thinks that a man clearly doesn't have ovaries but they can grow a beard, I must be a man!!! Hell yea!!

His beginning argument is kinda silly given, imo, Gender Identity is a individual based factor, that we simply wish for others to embrace. You can't force these ideas of trans-ness onto someone just because they show signs. No matter how involved you are with them, you will never 100% be in their head space and really know exactly how they feel. You can't force or not force it, because it isn't up to you to encite the change, it's up to you to accept that change, or not if you're against trans people ig.
You can be anything you want in your own mind, but physically you can present as such to allow others to understand and process that, you can't have this imposed onto you.
