Can't stress enough how right he is! Learn your handling skills! Gnarly Tip to hate on: Ride fixed gear breakless in citys, you'll learn all skills you could ever need.
Bunnyhops definitely useful!! I was behind a crash in a race a few weeks ago and even tho I was clear of the guy on the ground and his bike, his water bottle rolled right in my path and I jumped it haha
Many years ago I restored a friends old road bike and then went to deliver it. On the ride there I was booking downhill at 20mph plus and there was an entire block of the sidewalk removed.(approximately a meter long gaping hole).I have a bmx background and hucked that 35 pound old road bike as high as I can and cleared the gap. I spent over 4/5 hours cleaning/fixing that thing up and wasn't about to lose all that effort.
I set up my cones , never had an accident but i wanted to be cool and try this drill , ended up falling off my bike scratch up my knee mess up my knew gloves and rip my bib and got a broken spoke on the front wheel! Of course im kidding but i bet you were laughing your butt up. LOL Always nice to watch VC youtube videos thanks VC!
Thank you for this, I ride in a city that is not bike-friendly so I have circumnavigated varied terrain. I see how these skills will come in very handy.
Thanks! I'm still fairly new to MTB and my skills suck especially on single tracks with lots of trees (all I'm good at so far is speeding down wide hills, basic drops and lifting my front wheel). I'll make the effort now to up my skills game and learn to bunny hop my hardtail. Also the wife bump was too cute 😍
I cx too so I've worked on bunny hopping. I was getting up in the air good and then I had one spectacular jump, however I didn't land that one well. A Buddy tried to bunny hop a couple guys who lost it on a corner, he came off his bike tumbled perfectly on grass(this was a crit race, he flew into someone's yard) got up and continued with the race.
Love your videos. You ever do any “behind the scenes”, equipment, video technique, etc.? For instance, your sound quality is typically really good, what mic are you using? GoPro camera?
Get on the MTB and send it, and also spend a lot of time just messing around at low speed. Best 2 ways to improve skills, without having to do drills. Not saying these drills are not great of course. Great Vid Bro!
VC, these were some great suggestions on some highly overlooked skillets. Thx for sharing. I specifically, need to work that shouldering and track stand as a Crit racer. Awesome vid Bruh and thx again for considering the community. #critwhit
Great video, thanks, Dude, I'm 73 yo and am going to try the bunny hop, but when I was a kid, it was a dance as I remember. I assume the wife was not getting steaks ready for supper!
Turn your commute into skills practice (once you are comfortable enough to be safe)... trackstand opportunities all the time, and I would look out for a series of unchained bollards to slalom (there were 4 flagpoles that also worked well for faster slalom)... and when is there not a pothole to bunnyhop? Try not to shoulder bump cars or pedestrians though :)
👍safety vids👍 Lately I've been on my mnt bike one day and road the next, and each day I think about the safety precautions that I take. On the mnt I'm looking over my shoulder for predators like cougar, wolves, bear, or moose. On the road I'm looking out for crazy country dogs on the loose who like to chase and scare the poo out of cyclists. Also creeps in cars who stare and drive by several times. 😕 Needless to say, I carry protection when I ride.
you could explain why would you need pressure when making a turn downhil from outside foot (I am riding for 20 years and I do not know the answer, so I imagine hundreds others as well) I mean I do that pressure, but I do not know the reason for it
Is there a reason why you didn't clip in your helmet? Sure they're low speed drills, but if you're going to wear it, why not clip it on? Thanks for the tips!

Have fun on your 15,000 mi. Ride!!!
VC is getting into ultra-endurance:)
FireyAfterburner
It’s s not ultra, it’s HYPERMEGASUPERDUPER-endurance
Bunny hopping over speed ripples or speed waves when you can't pass them is a life saver and admittedly a lot of fun! Yuh!

3:50 LoL that made my day! Also, thank you for making videos that actually teach me something new....and that is something rare in UA-cam land.

Emergency braking, riding slow as possible and doing U-turns also good skillz to have.Muscle memory is the 'grooves in your brain' you refer to.

If you just ride road. Hopping on a mtn bike and doing some easy trails is good too !
great tips VC. but i won't try bumping into my wife though, that'll be more dangerous than bumping into a semi
love the red bar tape. looks super dope!
Hey, going to try, I am old but I will try.
Been hoping for a video like this for a while. Good stuff. Thanks for the tips!
Really nice training method! Thank you man

I need to work on these! Thanks, great video! :)

will try the balancing one on my bike....interesting :) Never tried it without touching the handlebar hehe
Thanks for the tips! Learned a lot today!

Check out counter steering has alot to do with safety
Andri Bjarkason I wish I would have known how to do this earlier in my cycling career. Would have saved me a lot of money 😬
Andri Bjarkason target fixation is also something to research as well.
im mostly a roadie but hit the mtb trails to mrpove handling

Great video!!
I love you yaar thank you for this work out❤

I assume the wife was not getting steaks ready for supper!
I need a wife to bump off of
dude 61K When did that happen ??? Thats great!!!
Solid tips VC !
Good tips, my extra tip would be to think what Peter Sagan would do.
Hop a curb, land on a wheelie one handed, and win a third world championship

“Dude I’m about to go on the most epic adventure ride right now 105 15,000 mile epic adventure ride.”
Hey bruh awesome video
Where did you buy those shorts?
👍safety vids👍

Someone's been in the editing bay a lot recently!

Hey @The Vegan Cyclist Another good skill you should show us is how to corner at high speeds not eatin' shit (hitting the asphalt).
I'd like to see VC do some tail whips, Bruh!
Great video! I actually think I could use some of these tips 👍
Quick off topic question though ...
Are you considering any upgrades to your bike? :)
Are you going riding with Francis, Lawrence and James?
Yep! 28th of June
The Vegan Cyclist i'm looking forward to that!
Three videos one ride ! And drones!!!
3:45 Baby Bump
Dude, where is this shirt in the store.?! I need that in my life!
BRAAP!
If you dont feel good about bunny hopping. Just getting your weight back and dropping your heels can go a long way for monster trucking over things
Good tips, should add emergency braking.
I used to be fine at track standing, but with new bike I have serious toe overlap which means that I can't whip the front wheel round. Any tips?
I still can't track stand... I can almost track stand aka move at 1mph easy.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO
Nice Pink Shirt Bruh ;)
At 4:00 did you leak your address?
With or without spirulina? Lol jk man
In this video, VC and his wife bumping!
You might want to do up your bike helmet in future videos if you want to be a good example to riders.
105 or 1500 miles??? Which one is it? Have fun bruh!
105 miles, 15kft climbing LOL.
ha ha ha😉 that was funny! I was like WTH??? 😂
Your wifey is cool for not stoppin’ you doin silly thing’s in the kitchen..😝
gunna have to hit a few more spirulina tablets before i do any of the crazy hopping around sh*t
3:42 lmao
Surely most of us have bene riding bikes since we were like 6 years old?
now try slalom on a fixie
Hope you mean 15000ft
track stand should have been the third item
Its easier to trackstand while standing up
First!!
Guess I'll get practicing because I've recked 2 races in a row now!?!?!
Dan Wood really
JPeezus ✔️️ ye not very good at staying on it seems😂😂😂
Vegan bumps wife in the kitchen [NOT CLICKBAIT]
Ahahahaha
What if you're on a fixed gear?😆 you can't coast😂😂
