  • When I wanted to complete my tripod collection with a Traveler model, it had a few criteria to fulfil. This SIRUI Traveler 7C met them all and it managed to really impress me. Four Section Carbon Fibre legs, Ball Head included and a good working height. It weighs under 1.6kg, folds down to 48cm and is stable enough to deal with a full frame camera on top. The easy conversion to a Monopod rounds up the positive impression.
    For just under £120 on Amazon - geni.us/BKc1 - it is a real bargain!

    Just bought mine earlier today for $116 USD on Amazon... and then I saw your video. But at least it confirmed I made the right decision. While I did a bit of research on my own, the thing that initially sold me on this tripod is that Simon d'Entremont uses this model as his travel tripod. If it's good enough for him it most certainly is good enough for me.
    Nice video and review, and I enjoyed the outtakes. I like someone that doesn't take himself too seriously.

    Like the price -- will be anxious to see your real-life review! I like your t-shirt with code for drinking coffee - just need to add a decision branch that allows you to decide on a light roast, medium roast, or dark roast! :-) Hope you are doing well, Oliver and I have been looking forward to your videos!

    Good review. I like that it’s 3 twist locks per leg instead of 4. I have a Benro with 4 twist locks per leg and it’s a nightmare. You might think That it’s just one extra twist, but it makes the last section very thin and three I can undo with one hand but the 4th one needs extra work. I’ve ordered one of these.

    I was given an Induro tripod as a gift about eight years ago. It's taken a beating over the years, but it's never failed me. I do like the Sirui monopod option. Certainly saves you the trouble of having two separate systems to tote around. But the main reason I've not bought a new one is the price. These are not inexpensive. Thanks for sharing!

      When you are happy with what you already have, then there is no need for something new. I do like the flexibilty od this Sirui but the main reason was that I needed a compact tripod for my travels, in addition to the ones I already have... It's about having the right tool for the job ;)

    great video my friend, i was looking for a in depth first impressions video and it really is the best i have found. Solved any questions i had. Im about to grab this one or the benro FIF28AI1, which do you suggest? Im an amateur photographer and i want a tripod for urban, landscape, architecture mainly, so i carry it a lot and want quick access to landscape and portrait side and those 2 are those i like the most. Again, great work on this one!

      I never worked with the Benro, so a suggestion isn't really possible. But I guess you made your choice already. Which one did you get?

    I have a sirui travel tripod. Smaller than yours. It’s just ok. A little hard to use. I have an acratech ballhead on it and that helps.

      I still haven't had the opportunity to really bring it to the test in real life. The head it came with is the Sirui E-10, a small one and I will check it out intensely. Just give me some more time please... 😉

    thanks for the review. After months of using it, how is it doing with the stability especially in the wind and for long exposure photography?

    • @OliverHerbold
      @OliverHerbold  2 роки тому +2

      In short, it is a versatile little tripod and works very well. But... The smaller size comes always with a reduced stability. Especially in strong wind I either work lower (not fully extended) or try to put some weight on it to increase stability.
      I always ask myself, do I need stability or compactness and reduced weight. Then I choose which tripod I will use that day.
      I hope that helps.

    Did you ever smell the rubber seal on the twistlocks? On my tripod it annoys me that you smell the chemicals inside the rubber and have that smell on your hands after touching it

    Hello, can you please tell me what is the minimal height without the centre column?

    • @OliverHerbold
      @OliverHerbold  2 роки тому

      The minimum height equals the length of the center column and that is 49cm. To do that you just spread the legs to the second locking point and raise the center column.
      I used it to photograph mushrooms and when you turn the center column upside down, you can get directly down to the ground.
      I hope that helps.

      @@OliverHerbold Thank you, I appreciate your superb fast reply. I'm interested into this tripod but I want to know what is the minimal height when you spread the legs and you don't use the center column. I assume it is possible to use the tripod without the center column. I need to take pictures from as low as possible position but don't want to turn the center column upside down. Thanks.

    • @OliverHerbold
      @OliverHerbold  2 роки тому +1

      @@miroslavzachar1011 I'm sorry to disappoint you but this particular model can not be operated without the center column. It is integral part of the construction.
      If you really don't want to turn it upside down, you might be better off with either a model without center column or look out for one that comes with an additional short one.
