Now he's an Olympic gold medalist in the shot...
David Heffernan is he really
@@nerv6053 yes look it up
Olympic record holder actually
World record holder in the shot
Ee
The amount of chest-hip separation Crouser gets in discus is insane. He is able to gain at least 20-30 feet just by simply landing in his power position with his discus all the way back. In order to achieve that, you need a lot of quickness with your footwork, but also a lot of patience with your upper body. Crouser was around the same size as me, and I base some of the aspects of my technique off his...
10 years later and he is now the world record holder in the shot put 23.37m absolute legend
And now 23.56 🤯
Up to 23.56m now….
wow-237 feet is so huge..so fast for such a huge guy...pulling for him in the next olympics
Sean Power he got gold
this aged well
Oo
Ee
Hey I have some good news for ya
I came here to see how my HS throws stacked up...i'll be leaving now... :D
He was so slim back then...
Truly impressive. Continuing the Crouser dynasty! Well done!
I got 46, in Shotput, but then Covid happened and never got to beat the school record.
My friend got 50 in shotput. I think he’s a sophmore idk but I never threw shotput before
His technique is incredible. I threw in high school against guys much bigger mass-wise than Ryan in this video and they couldn't come within 20 feet of him in the shot and 70 feet in the discus.
Amazing to watch this and then his world record throw!
Now he holds world record for shot...
Congrats on winning GOLD !!! And a new OR. I hope to run into you some day. I live in Happy Valley area.
Ryan you're awesome.I go to west orient and i'm a 8th grader and you're like my discus hero.I saw your record of 197 feet on there and i flipped out, your throw is 80 feet further than what i could ever throw.
Now he's a gold medalist
I just stumbled across this old relic. Wow!
Reason to love u tube. Seeing some one from 12 years ago. Never been, never met, still connected.
this guy back then at my high school was trowing a 216s to 219s as a junior but never really competed because he never made grades, every season he would always have have bad grades, this was back in 2007, the guy moved school at the end of senior year, never really knew what happened to him after that.
Congratulation. You are the best.
truly my inspiration
I wondered if he would be able to step it up to world class, because some high school phenoms cannot. Did not take him long to become Mr. Gold Medalist. Great technician and so slow it looks like slow motion.
Now he owns the shotput world record
im trying to make state by the end of my senior year for discus, are there any tips for the full spin or certain workouts i should focus on? would love to even hit 200 ft ahah
FYI: This is the USATF record with a High School Discus (1.61K). If you look at the date it was past the month that the state championships is held (May) therefore after the state postseason. Mason Finley still possesses the actual in season "high school" record (his distance was thrown before the state champs were completed. Nonetheless, Crouser is awesome for achieving the distances he did in high school where most schools don't have a throws coach who actually knows how to coach properly (basically European/german-like style). Please do not get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Crouser and am very proud of him for crushing the Olympic Shotput record in his first olympics nonetheless and he is a strong representative for the USA and I am proud to have him on our team.
By that logic Michael Carter’s 81-3 1/2 isn’t the high school record since it was at the Golden West Invitational after the Texas State Championships. Ryan Crouser threw 77-2 3/4 during the indoor high school season which is further than Carter’s 2nd best throw so therefore by your logic he should be the high school shotput record holder.
I love how long it takes for the disc to land.
Now he’s a world record holder!
Outstanding!!!
Just crushed the shotput WR!
Yessir
Wanna see him do it again? ua-cam.com/video/8jmxGxW_ZxM/v-deo.html
That’s crazy he’s awesome
Nice to see how far he's come, here's to hoping for you to break the shot world record.
How do you feel knowing that he did? :)
@@samanimations2002 when I saw the thumb nail to his world record video for the first time i went crazy lol
@@samanimations2002He just got another one!
CONGRAGULATIONS WOW!! What are your lifts now powerclean, squat ,and bench? And WHAT is your powerclean routine like?
He just broke the record for shot put…
Now he’s a world record holder
Does anyone know what the windconditions were when he trew his record? Hard to tell from the video.
Great stuff!
how did the rest of this "track meet" go? I guess it was a full meet right? Sure hope it wasn't one of those "special" comps for somebody to get a mark. Seems I remember other "special" comps for a former U of O javelin thrower.
Good luck in Rio next month. Bring home the gold.
and he did!
The finals arent until this evening
And he did, with a new Olympic record!
He sure showed them how to do it.
Yea that's our hero!
God damn and the awesome thing is is that he doesn't even really rotate that fast, it's all just mechanics and strenghth
Was this a regular track and field meet? or just a throwing competition?
i'm pretty sure they had to use the discus measuring tape to measure his shot throw as well.
where your committed to?
What is the best stand throw for each event?
That's f...ing incredible. Man that kid can propel objects.
and its cool that he went to barlow, a school in oregon.
how far did you throw when you were ing grade 8?
when you have arms as long as he does the disc is being spun faster as he drives through the circle. plus he seems to use a ton of leg strength.
Watching this after your 23.56m WR!
I think they’re going to need a bigger field…
how old were u when u first started?
Ryan I don’t know if you’ll see this but right now I’m a high school freshman who threw 93(1.6) with a standing throw in discus and 36.5(10 pound) in shotput also with a stand, do you think I’d be able to someday make it to college it even Olympics?
@JAKE8E8S Not to mention that in some countries, it only takes the B standard to qualify for the Olympics, which is 63m. It's not ridiculous to think Crouser could have done this in HS, let alone by summer 2012. I think his shot won't be until 2016, though
For high school shot putters out there, how crazy is Michael Carter’s high school record of 81 ft 3 inches to y’all? When do you think it will be broken?
The meet was an invitational set up by mac wilkins. Whether it was any sort of "official" meet was debatable but its an official USATF record so someone had to sign off on it
What a Beast
Rayan big fan of you now. After seeing your past hard work and your capabilities. You really motivated me.
I just want to know I am 31 year of age. If today I start practicing throwing events like shot put and discuss throw. Is it possible I can be a good athlete. Or after my age pass I become weaker. Is strength in throwing events affected with age.
The best thing about throwing events is that you compete against yourself! you can only control how far you throw, and if you throw a personal best it means that you are the best you've ever been! A lot of throwers peak in their early 30s so it seems like you're in your prime for some far throws!
That disc was in the air a longggggg time.
how tall are you and how much do you weigh?
how come he threw the indoor shot so much farther??? i thought the outdoor shots were supposed to go farther
@jackstech1 standard for high school in America. what else would he be throwing??
@EndlersaurusRex thats actually a pretty accurate way to describe mason's throwing technique
i went to the same track meets he did its insane!!!
cant beleive how far he throws for as slow as he spins in disc
@SpaTown808 it was signed off on FYI
are you just strong or is it mainly tech. ?
Freshman year disc?
theoretically yes
Epic....
i love throwing at Macs throw center (concordia)
Was the previous record even close? Those numbers are phenominal!
That's 70 feet further than my high school's record. Freaking nuts.
Thanks for posting. I could have done without the music, but that's why there's a mute button...
@monkEalvord ok... if you look at the rule book, there is NOTHING saying that you absolutely MUST enter from the back. I enter from the front all the time in my meets. I've thrown in state meets, championship meets, invitationals, relays, and all star meets with all sorts of different reffs and not one has scratched me. So technically, he's right.
Wonder why he doesn’t throw disc now? He’d probably be a world champion at it.
How old was he when this were achieved?
I’d love to see those clips in different angles as well. Dude’s a mf beast
Do you think that this mark was false? or that it didnt count?
Very good, is it normal in US that juniors throw with 1.6k? Here we throw with 1.5k at age 16/17 and 1.75k at age 18/19
Zandter mostly all high schoolers use 1.6k in the us
I understand what you mean.... but in all fairness to ryan crouser, he was competing against other people in this meet. he was not the only one. This was indeed a meet probably to get the mark in, but it was a legitimate meet. Colleges were there to witness him throw this. And a mark is a mark. He prob could have thrown farther if not for injury
wait, did he beat finley then?
How far do you throw the 2k discus and 16 lb shot? You should be one the of best in the US right out of the gate. Congratulations!
Can just look it up now. It’s 22.90 meters for shot and disc it’s like 63 meters
My sons are coming after you. One day I hope they get there
did they?
Federal Bureau of Investigation 😂😂 four years later
Way back in the day when I was still throwing they made us ener and exit from the rear half of the ring. I remember because I had my best throw at a area meet scratched for entering just like he did.
can't wait to see what he'll do in college
haha
@@OakQueso i know right
Holy crap he was insane in high school. I’m only throwing 100 for disc rn.
Rumor is that you will give Discus a try after the upcoming Olympics, hope it's true. Really believe you can win gold in the event. The USA is in need of a serious discus thrower to challenge the current world's best, give it a shot at least, would be great for the sport and maybe increase Americans' appreciation for the throws.
00:23 I'm gonna start doing that twist before the throw, it really look like it adds a lot of torque
Do you have any advice ?
dont go outside the lines. B-)
now he's in college throwing the 16lb 66ft..... wow
@AdamManns He had a back injury
@Throwfar8 Totally appropriate song! Especially after all his injuries lmao
what about as a freshman?
I really didnt think anybody was going to beat Masons record as a highschooler. God fucking damn man the new Virjillius
i thought mason finley had it at 244?
You're the Joe Fisher of HS throwers.
@bdonin he went to longhorn country
@jackstech1 well gee it was stated in the video.......
I wish professional throwers could do 2 events rather than just one
Look at rutger smith
Tony Sommers john godina as well
I think Ryan should retire from shot now that he has the world record, and shoot for the discus world record. He has the power and technique to be competitive at the world level.
They can but they just focus on one rather than both.
@XxPHD69xX oh well i thought he did, but yeah hes very good.. came out of nowhere but this year is probably they best year of throwing gfor high school i ever seen in my life,,,
@schroed90 it looks slow on video, but in real life he hits his positions prob faster than most people
he beat EVERYONE.....
why has your shot went down so much sense indoor?
my comment has nothing to do with this ring entering controversy here. So these late season meets sometimes have loose judging. I remember one at the U of Oregon in the summer of 85 in a javelin competition. I think alot of these records have taken place under less than ideal conditions. Not taking anything away from the Crouser boys, they surely are very talented.
@bigjoe1234100 21.56 w/ 5k shot and 202'6" 1.6k disc
not so sure if the song is appropriate, but hey nice throw!
