You have beautiful yarn and it's nice to see how you often knit combinations.
I knit a lot with Drops Fabel on needles 2.5.
    It is special sock wool.
Lots of choice and not expensive!
Holds up well in the washing machine on a wool program.
I wish you happy knitting hours !

I can only hope that your gift of thought and time replenishes and restores your sprit as it does ours. These are the times when when we must hold on to those things that can connect each of us one to another knowing that our common thread that is woven through all comes from the same source. Namaste

Process of making is what brings me joy, and when I can do it for those I love, it's even more special. At the moment I'm knitting socks for my younger son as he really liked that yellow/black yarn I showed in this video.
As always, thank you for taking the time to watch and write. Ivana ❤️

    Ivana,
Thanks once again for a wonderful video. I love seeing the socks people like to knit. My nieces convinced me to knit my very first pair of socks, two at a time on circular needles. I did and that started me on my love of hand knit socks 🧦🧶

    Hi, Ivana
That's one impressive sock yarn stash!
I love knitting socks and always use 2,5mm needles.
I organized my yarn stash during Christmas break of 2022 and it was eye opening about how much yarn I have and it helped me be more mindful when buying yarn. It's not just about space and storage, because I am also a bookworm and avid reader, or should I say physical books buyer?! 😅😅, but it is about having enough yarn to knit for at least 25 years 😅😅😅
About yarn stashes and sock yarn, here in the portuguese community we have established that sock yarn doesn't count for stash 😂😂😂😂 it's a private joke we have going on 😂
My favourite sock yarn to knit with and I have tested how they wear out are Regia 4-ply and a portuguese yarn brand called Mondim by Retrosaria Rosa Pomar. Mondim is a 100% portuguese wool sock yarn but they are heavy duty and hold up really well. The yarn is rustic but is soft and cozy. All you have to worry about is washing them by hand. Because in the washing machine they totally felt. But it is worth the trouble.
    Kisses,
    Naná

Good morning Ivana, Really enjoyed your tour of your sock yarns and knitted bounty of socks. You are so prolific!!!!! Your family is very fortunate to have such a generous knitter that loves them with her hands!!!!! I have acquired quite a yarn stash of sock yarn and I love every skein! I tend to go for dramatic indy dyed sock yarns and love to do contrast heel, toe and band. Using 9"circular sock and starting to put patterns into the sock so graduating from the vanilla pattern now that it feels comfortable. Appreciated your feedback on what contents worked really well. It was interesting to hear what was said about the yarn with yak content. I am getting ready to knit a sweater with fingering yarn (2 strands held together for DK weight) that contains yak. I did a swatch and it really is dreamy soft. I've been trying to finish off my daughter in law's sweater so now all I have left is sew the sleeve seams and attach to sweater. Then I can earnestly start the gray yak yarn sweater, (Caitlin Hunter Zwieg) I love what you knit and so enjoy your thoughtful commentary narrative. Can't wait to see what you are doing next! May you continue your peaceful knitting journey and receive joy!!!!!!😘Carrie from the N. San Francisco Bay Area 🐑🐾🍵🧵🪡🧶

Such an enjoyable episode. But then I could listen to sock talk all day! I’ve never made an afterthought heel but mainly because I just enjoy knitting heel flaps and heel turns so much… best part of the sock for me. I’ve knitted with WYS and love their yarn. I also knit with Opal yarn for gift knitting (men’s socks) mostly because it seems to be bullet proof and can be machine washed, and the patterns are fun to knit up. I was disappointed with the merino yak, (unless I got a faulty ball - the mustard one) Even after the first wash, a lot of black hairs came to the surface and they just looked old and matted and dirty. I actually threw them out. However, I had another ball with which I knitted a Musselburgh Hat by Ysolda Teague. It made a marvellous hat. It’s my son’s favourite hat now, so warm with the double layer and will keep him warm in Canada this winter. I can recommend this pattern. I still have another ball in the blue/green shade. It will be another Musselburgh. I’ve never tried helical knitting before and now I’m all fired up to give that a go, and use up some plain old sock yarn with some brighter colours. Yours look great. Thanks for the inspiration. I wish I had a few more pairs of hands! 😅

Ivana, for some reason I kept getting interrupted when I sat down to watch this… Until today. I think today I needed your calm, gentle spirit and nature. This was a super informative video- I too feel for the $ Regia is a workhorse! You have given me ideas and a bit of a push to get cracking on the socks I have on my needles now, so I can try something new. I have done cut in afterthought heels before, . but never thought of doing the four extra rows to make it a deeper inset. Great idea! As always, I just simply enjoy you. Warm regards, Karyol.

Very helpful video today Ivana. I like that you combine sock yarn with a mohair strand, which I intend to try myself. I bought a huge amount of off while Drops Fabel , kind of by mistake for a blanket project that I have completely changed my mind over, so I need to find other creative uses for it. Maybe I can over dye it with natural dyes.....that's a thought. And holding it with a coloured mohair for socks or indeed a larger project may be alot of fun. Sending hugs in these difficult times x

Ivana cara, this was soo lovely! I have actually watched this all curled up under a blanket in candlelight while there is a blackout for some reason, with the battery back up from my phone..a little comfort on a tiring day with bad weather…Ok so you have definitely made me want to knit my first socks! probably next year because too much on my needles to finish now. I also want to try the sock tube, sounds like fun! Thanks for the tips, I have never cut through my knits so it feels scary. I so love the socks you knit from leftovers, it sounds like such a rewarding creative project, I also love being able to use every little scrap, so satisfying. Your socks are gorgeous! And what lovely gifts they make. I will lean into this asap. May I ask you what number was the Nord brown you showed us? it was gorgeous, it’s so hard to figure out the colors online. Do you have a system for remembering what you have, like a written/digital archive? I started writing down on a little notebook. And how do you store them/organize them? If you feel like sharing the process…I have so much yarn as well, and slowly want to make it more manageable.
Sending you always Light and Love..❤
