It is indeed that kind of song.
Me too 🤝🏼 I love the first albums so much
Same. How time flies..
Likewise. Great music.
@@roberthones Yes i come back to this song frequently, has been a long time favorite of mine. Discovered it over 10 years ago
Know how some songs can take you back to an exact moment in time and place where you were feeling a certain way about a certain person and you feel all those feelings all over again? This song is so amazing.
Ugh yes! All the takeaway shows give me straight flashbacks. It's difficult yet magical at the same time 💖
Oh yes, I completely feel what you are saying 💕
same. couldn't phrase it any better. Awesome
Wish it would stop.
That part though.
it's 2020 and I'm still here listening to this masterpiece ⚡️

This song is the theme to one of the greatest nights of my life
mine too 😊
Do tell us more...
Are they big in France?
@@andrewdutton9505 I don't know, but I guess they don't. ... Actually it's a band that I know lots of people love, but who or where are they?
my husbands older brother loved this song, and in return my husband absolutely admires this song. and while my husbands brother has passed away in 2018. he still comes back and listens to this song here and there. The joy he experiences is unmatched.

Beirut is an extremely underrated band. One of the best live performances ever
I've returned to this video regularly for 16 years. A Thank You is long overdue for this.

2007.... the year i started college... the golden age of indie folk. that was a very fun time. the times and the music are fun now too. but interesting to think about how these albums, and the blogoteque videos, felt like part of the center of the scene at the time.
EDIT: just saw and remembered Will Sheff back there, alongside Travis Nelsen, rest in peace. how the times change.
13 years later and my heart still explodes just as much as ever
Same but i heard this song in 2013
I come back here every now and then to listen to this song and I never get tired of it.
same. They are my favorite band ever.
It truly never gets old. I think it’s been like 11 or 12 years now and i always find my way back.
Getting tired of it is absolutely Impossible... I am in love for this song jeje
You’re not alone :P
I love this recording. I love the reality in it. The voice cracks, the street side crowd, the infinity.
memories, people, moments, sadness, happiness, regrets, dreams,... so many things going through my head while listening this song... getting older....
So deeply
Here after the Beirut Explosion. Beirut has for a while now been my favorite band. The whole thing made me think of you guys. Rest in peace to those brave firefighters fighting the initial fires and all the people caught in the gigantic blast.
@@amirdada5700 Beirut city explosion in Lebanon that happened on 4th of August 2020.
I love how powerful his voice is... it just resonates the streets
11 years ago I met this song in Mexico City where I am originally from, I loved it, a year later I started to study French. In 2018 I met a French guy from Nantes travelling in Bolivia, I looked for the first time where Nantes was in the map. It's the end of 2023, today the French guy and I have lived in Mexico and also in Nantes together. Life is a mystery.
12 years later, this is still one of my most favorite videos on UA-cam. All of their videos were so neat, warm, & refreshing.
Saw them with my cousin Ben at Bonnaroo 2011.......... Still find my way back to him. Great performance till the end of time.
Almost 10 years since this happened. How old am I...
+Felipe Flores Yup..I know the pain... I'm 28 and I feel old...what a horrible feeling!
+Felipe Flores I was at school when I first saw that, now I graduated college two years ago already... but.. how come this happened so fast
Lena Diogteva Precisely. But it's nice to look back and see that we were in a good path, musically saying. :-)
Same...
dont get depressed guys we are 29-30 not fuckin 80!!live your lives to the fullest!!!
I am in love with his voice and this whole band in general

And I still melt every damn time. :)
I had no idea it had been that long either! Thanks for reminding me! Now, I'm going to sit down and finish a bottle of whiskey and try to forget how old I am as well, while listening to this song! :)

well six years ago I heard this song. and periodically I check back to it. like a gold little treasure on the internet that only I know about. lol kudos guys.
You simply cannot draw borders on a musical map of the world. There is so much potential out there, which none of us even knew existed.
I would go back in time just to watch this
youre gorgeous and I'll go to any show you will go to. I'll do my best to introduce you. I'm lucky enough to be dear friends of a band member. hell i dont need to be there. just tell Paul you know farrow

*_well it's been a long time, long time now, since I've seen you smile_*
beautiful words.
My favorite thing about the line is that they use *you smile* instead of *your smile* . The implication brought by one letter difference is quite fascinating as *you smile* will mean broader situation, including the time and place of and how she smile. Beautiful it is. I'm glad I found this song from a Dutch short film "Sevilla". This song since then becomes my favorite song.
I've been having a rough week and this performance just brings me some peace. Thank you for this.
Hope you're doing better man. These are tough times indeed
I love this song, so melancholic
12 years ago i fell in love with this song and this performance. i still love both.
Lol wish I could say the same I was only a child 12 years ago must've been extraordinary to watch this video long ago to make it a memory but I'll probably be back 12 years later XD
Same. Angsty teenage me really loved to cry to this video. Angsty adult me still does too.
Came back to this after 16 years, still amazing🤯
Eleven years and still obsessed with this song
i love how he laughs throughout the song. i can really see how happy it makes him to be making music
I love this show, his voice is perfect.
:)
Can't believe it's been 12 years. I wrote an article about this particular performance, Zach's singing, the not-really-in-the-mood guitarist (Will from Okkervil River iirc) and the magic of Take Away Show. Not my best writings, but certainly my personal favourite.
Can i read your article ?
@@RaiK0Nn I wish I can show you, but the magazine went obsolete a couple years ago.

@@franklinigor2108 "This was filmed in Paris, on the corner of Rue Saint-Maur and Rue Oberkampf, in front of the Cafe Place Verte."
This is (still) everything--pure delight and warmth! Thank you world
I used to live on rue Oberkampf across the street from Place Vert and Nouveau Casino (building behind the artwork wall) when I was 18 and 19 (2009/2010). I had just graduated from high school and had spent the months leading up to moving to Paris as garbage man and parks & rec employee in the small city I grew up in. Talk about a change of scenery moving there... Beirut's music, this performance, that street, and those bars and restaurants were the backdrop for some of the best times in my life. So much hope and that unbelievable sense of freedom. I'm not sure I'll ever experience those feelings are purely as that time again, but I'm grateful for having ever felt them in the first place, and this performance always transports my soul back there.
the energy is palpable!! the guy is a prophet of music...love Beirut and always will x
Ok I love him.
Keep coming back to watch/listen to this piece of art! His voice gives me all them good chills
I have this episode to thank for introducing me to Beirut many, many years ago. I immediately fell in love with his music after hearing this song.
I’ve listened to this song for 3 years without ever deleting it off my playlist and I still adore it like back when I first heard it.
Such a freaking good introduction to this band. I saw this video for the first time around thirteen years ago and immediately dived deeper. I had to. And here I am now, memories leading me backwards, happily, in time throughout my mental music catalogs. This makes me so happy to watch again. 💚
I first saw this 6 years ago. I’m still here and will be for many more years I imagine... Modern Classic x
EGGYTROLL1 you‘ll find me here in like 6 years too
this is still one of my dearest, absolute favorite Take Away Shows
2007 was a great year. 2007 foi um grande ano.
Nem me fala... 🤧
I'm obsessed with this. And if I told you how many times I've watched this, you wouldn't believe me. Perfect.
I believe in you
Do you stiil love it?
My life changed so much these years being a teenager finally starting to see the world through my "somewhat adult" eyes... man what a life...
After all this time, it still brings such unbelievable joy.
bringing back so many memories... this channel has been so formative to me, and my taste in music, and my identity. can't believe i'm now twice the age i was when it was first uploaded.
Praying for Beirut!
still my favorite takeaway performance...i've probably watched it 3 to 4 times every year since
It's great to hear a young indie rock band with a singer whose voice is so genuinely wholesome
Still one of the best takeaway shows to date. This and grizzly bears shift have my heart I always return to them
+ bon iver, + yeasayer, agreed

5 years now since the first time a came here, this band has become one of my favorite bands ever. its been a long time now as its written in this momorable song.
Perhaps this song was the first I heard and since then got captivated by Beirut sounds! Had never heard this "acoustic" organic version and it is just a jewel!!!!
It never gets old
Best version of this song in my opinion
no matter how many times I watch it, it's always beautiful. i wish they came back with new songs soon, I really miss their wonderful sound :(
i remember this from years back and always come back to enjoy.

Wow I remember I heard this when I was 12 years old and absolutely fell in love with it and obviously Spotify wasn’t around back then so I couldn’t get a hold of the track - anyway this song played in a movie scene and I shazamed it, and I just rediscovered it and fell in love with it all over again. On replay on Spotify.
2021 and I am very glad that I found this song
This is what's right with the world. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I just watched this again 6 years later. I became flooded with happiness, dang loud, and was reminded that I'm going to alright.
This was everything to me like 11 years ago fresh outta high school...STILL SLAPSSS
I used to listen to them whit my father when like 10 years ago. Such a beautiful song. ❤️ Great memories. 🙂 No seriously this band has touched me so much and I had all their songs on my first mp3 player (who has one of those today 😂). They influenced me a lot.
Found this group when I was listening to fleet foxes take away show. I instantly fell in love and have been my one of my favorite groups of all time.
i love seeing the artist i like perform in public and showing who they are and others becoming fans i wish this channel did frequent updates . its not often u get to see bands you like do cool stuff like this in public. i like he always projects his voice when singing shows his power vocals that he can even over power the instruments .
eight years, and i always come back!
