Stopped watching this review on a position where he couldn't use those awesome door handles.. It was so fake and he did it on purpose.. I was on DS store few days ago and I tested those door handles and they worked as expected on first try. No issues at all.

I had 2 DS3 cars and i have to say that this DS3 crossback is really tempting me, i think that it is a really beautiful car and not too big for a city use. The design is for me, the best asset of this car.
The driver seating is way better than the current ds3. I think i might get this DS3 crossback!

@@MarekDrives Your usual narrative with French cars is negative.
Your criticism of the sloping rear seats comprising boot shape, for example. Would you bring that up in a VW review? No chance.
You were biased before you even saw the car and that performance with the door handles was contrived and embarrassing to watch.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 5 років тому +4

@@scoopermg8226 I liked C4 Cactus, C4 Picasso, C3 Aircross, 3008, etc., so I wouldn't say my usual narrative with French cars is negative. I owned a French car for 12 years, and I generally liked it. It's not my fault the French seem to excel at making impractical vehicles. Which brings us to your VW reference - if only VW made impractical quirky cars, I would point that out too.
And that door handle seriously has a mind of its own. You've seen the studio footage. I didn't even touch it. It wouldn't open using remote control either.

Damning with faint praise is what I found.
A car like this will always provoke a variety of opinion, I agree, but to level criticism such as the sloped rear seats impacting on usability of the boot is bizarre..... EVERY car is affected by this but it's s big deal on a french car. No way would you bring it up for a German car.
"It's good that there are people who are crazy enough to buy it"
There is no way on earth that the "gadgets for the sake of being hi-tech" comment would be made on a Range Rover or Lexus review. The majority of your narrative on French cars is negative, hence my original remark.

I've owned a DS3 1.6 THP from 2012 for a while and loved that car. Currently own an Opel Insignia Sports Tourer 2.0 CDTI which is good for longer trips but since I moved it's getting too big to park anywhere. I mainly do highway driving and am a bit stuck between a few cars (still need to test drive). Just going by heart I'd go with DS again, but there's just so much choice these days.
    My current options are:
    DS3 Crossback 1.2 Puretech automatic
    DS4 1.2 Puretech automatic
    Opel Mokka 1.2 Puretech automatic
    Ford Puma 1.0 Ecoboost MHEV
    Peugeot 2008 1.2 Puretech automatic

    Mazda 3 2.0 e-Skyactiv X automatic

If you're doing mainly highway, and assuming diesel is not frowned upon where you live, you should consider it for economy. Depends on the milage and taxes, of course.

    • @declde
      @declde 2 роки тому

@@MarekDrivesENG Taxes are getting very expensive, that's the problem right now. It's roughly 600 every year and when looking at current consumption of 7L/100km and 2500km every month, I spend roughly 350 EUR to buy diesel. Looking at newer petrol engines, let's say 6L/100km when cruising highway, that would be about 255 EUR a month. Tax for the 1.2 Puretech is 90 EUR every year. My Insignia is also approaching 150.000km so can assume more costs to follow. That's why I think it's interesting to look for something new :) I also really want to get a petrol, I chose diesel for the longer distances but still hate driving it. Taking my girlfriends' 2018 Opel Corsa with 1.4 petrol (90hp) is a joy to drive.
      Current price diesel: 2.000 EUR/L
      Current price petrol: 1.7 EUR/L
      Year tax Insignia: 600 EUR
      Year diesel Insignia: 4200 EUR
Year tax DS3 Crossback 1.2 Puretech: 90 EUR
      Year petrol at 6 L/100km: 3060 EUR

There is no need to touch the handles at all, force closing or force opening the handles.
The only time you need to touch the handles is when you want to enter the car when the handles are already popped out
The Proximity Keyless Entry will only work as you approach the car and not if you have been standing by the car for a while.. Unlock button on the key fob will pop out all handles.

No, and you said it was a decent drive. I follow a number of car review channels some provide reviews that are always positive no matter what. Some focus purely on entertainment feeding into preconceptions and scoring easy jibes and asides for fun. Some seem balanced and professional giving good and bad and providing an unbiased review that adds real value (in my opinion) to a car buyer or someone who wants a genuine review. My reflection was that this review seemed different from the norm as I believe you fit into the latter style. The constant prodding of the door handles at the start of the review (I don't disagree that it's a gimmick some makers use) seemed to feed a frustration that never left. Just my opinion. I enjoy your channel but was just surprised at the 'style' of this review. It seemed different to the norm.

I am a PSA fan, and many of the comments section will disagree with me, but I don't like this car, it looks like they quickly added an extra door to the DS 3. I liked the styling of the DS 3 but it just doesn't work for a 5-door car. A lot of the comments are also saying the doorhandles are easy and that you're overreacting. I disagree, your concerns about the doorhandles are valid. They add an extra step to a proces that really shouldn't be that complicated, and they'd probably be harder to use for emergency services if they need to free you if you get trapped in an accident.

oh my. The previous DS3 was a fine little car, a competitor to the Mini that was non-retro and therefore superior to the Mini. Now, they are trying to sell a stylistically overwrought competitor to dozens of crossover cars. If it was gold, you could call it a flash in the pan, but it's not even that.

These are press cars. So I got this one directly from PSA in Poland.
Besides Audi and Ford, who are terrified to give me their cars, I generally have good relations with most car companies. But I hear the dealers are generally displeased with anyone saying anything even mildly negative about the cars. After all, they have to sell it, and some of their clients watch UA-cam.

A little film industry trick from a camera guy Marek, since you don't have enough "FILL" light to mitigate the bright light coming through the window, make sure you arrange the car so you are shooting into a darker background i.e. the forest behind you (with less sky) or a building. Now if you want to get fancier you can carry around ND6 or ND9 gel and tape it against the window. This will cut the light down coming through the window... obviously this isn't good for travelling shots.
Great video Marek, awful car. Citroen, please don't bring this to Canada. Make the old 2CV or the original DS. Now that would be retro cool.

Very negatively biased review. I do not own a DS, i am not an employee of them, and i am no fanboy, but it was very easy to see how this guy just wanted to slander that car on purpose. Perhaps it is an easy target to smear in order to pretend to be a harsh critic, but i bet he wouldn't dare act like this towards more popular german cars.... As for the car itself, it seems to be an awesome car for those people who would love a SMALL luxury crossover. Germans do not do small cars, except Opel and VW, with Opel being the same platform/drivetrain as the DS but with less luxury, and VW again, being less luxurious, especially in smaller offerings. If you are a city dweller or have to travel small twisty mountain roads often, yet still would like some luxury, this is a great option. But this reviewer never mentioned all those strengths, to whom the car would have been suitable. Instead he chose to just bash the door handles....
