Love that table leg idea, think I need to get some for my DJ console cover as well 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
This is a FANTASTIC build! I love the lengths of profiled aluminum running along the edges and those corner pieces. My favorite step you took was the re-rendering of that folding table, A+ for the facelift!! I’ve been planning some very similar cases, with the edging and clasps and I’ve grabbed some good ideas from your project. THANKS FOR SHARING!
Thanks Jimmy glad you got some use from this!
Always inspiring brother! I wanna get out in the shop after watching your videos! You’ve got mad skills
Thanks man I appreciate that!! Now go make something!!
Love it, great build and video as always
Thanks Rob really appreciate that!
Beautiful case. And a great video. I love how you explained why the rivets didn’t hold. That takes humility. I’ll listen to a man like that anytime.
Appreciate that bud
Every rivet should be washer backed if not going thought aluminum. Unfortunately that probably every rivet on this case
Nice shop! Very cool! I want to start to make my own road cases. Thank you for the inspiration.
THANKS MAN!
As a merch dude myself, this would make life so much easier
That's awesome! Nice work!
Appreciate that!
When my land surveying business takes off I’m gonna get you to build me some boxes kinda like that, you have great ideas!
Haha OK you got it!! Thanks NICK!
These vid deserves a millon views, I love it man! You got a crazy head to design this stuff Derek hahaha
LOL well thank you!! I hope it gets a million too haha!!
great idea and great job. Respect
THANK YOU
Brilliant! This inspired me to mar one for my band. Thank you.
Awesome!
Quality’s build chief!
Nice Job, I like the way you chopped out the latches, it looks easy but those cutting wheels dance about some, nice case.
It’s definitely better to cut your latch holes before hand. It’s also unnecessary to get the lid extrusions so that the latch will sit on the bare wood
Freaking brilliant man!!
Thanks so much!!!
Thats a damn nice case ! ! !
Thanks Todd!!
TOP ..... SHOW ..... 10 ..... PARABÉNS !!!! .... 5 STAR !!!!!
wow that was great
Genial !!!
Those handles should really come with a backer plate. I’ve had that problem as well
Great custom product for given- time + materials investment. I guess you would glue/seal the metal for more $. That would really tighten it up if needed.
Consistly putting out great designs, content, and video format!! Very cool, wish you were closer by FL would love to get one of your unique pieces in our store!!
THANK YOU! I can ship to you!!
May have to order and feature a DC original down the road!! Anyway, your channel is taking off man, awesome job!!
Thanks man just lemme know!
Thanks for the video
Very good 👍
sick!
Good stuff. Love the functionality of this build. Do you take visitors to your shop? lol
Hahaha yep I get visitors all the time!
Nice ! :D
Wow.. brelliant...
THANKS
Id live out of that, seriously I would
I want one!
Pretty cool idea. I have doubts on the longevity of it though. I guess time will tell. Have you thought about using backing washers on those rivets in the future? They are made specifically for rivets in softer materials. Thanks for posting!
Those are made the same way music industry flight cases are made…. If they will last a decade handled by stoned stage hands and roadies in a hurry, they will last twice as long if not abused….
You’re absolutely right BO. Unfortunately Rick, with the way this case was construction, the rivets will fall out eventually down the road
Super hit
*También construyess para equipo de DJ?*
5:28 It pulled off like that, because you didn't use a backing plate or small washers on the backside of those rivets. The rivets that are used in high stress areas for ATA rated or ATA 'style' cases, need to be a little bit longer to account for the washers/backing plates.
Yes very true. I learned this the hard way! Thank you for commenting!
@@DerekConwayTX Blue Loctite is a must.
what did you use to cover the wood looked like some kind a veneer
Its called ABS. Got it from TCH in Dallas
Hey guys! Congrats for the build, looks amazing! A question: what material is the one over the plywood?

Thanks!

Where are you located, in or around Washington DC I assume? I am in NOVA and may be looking for a custom road case built for a half stack and effects and stuff. I may need to go with separate cases, one for the head and one for the cab due to the height of my truck, both live in cases. The head and cab are EVH 5150iii 100w and cab which are a bit larger than Marshalls so think it will need to be a custom build. Seems the cases are just so expensive. Any ball park would be greatly appreciated so I could know how much I need to have to pull the trigger??
I'm in Dallas TX bud
Awesome case! How do you quote jobs like this? I would take on these types of jobs but don’t know how to charge. Keep’em coming Derek 😎
Well I price the materials and give myself two days, then I quote the price. Sometimes I look around for similar pricing as well...
and don't ever say no to a job. Say yes then get it done somehow!
What is that slotted trim molding called that's on the inner lip of the lid and shelf? This whole process is awesome to watch btw.
I got it at TCH in Dallas. It's an aluminum extrusion made for road case lids, not quite sure of the name...
Tongue and Groove extrusion is used for the lid to meet the body of the case. Double Angle extrusion is used to connect the panels together.
Single angle is used in this video, double angle is superior
I just started a non-profit 501(c)(3) to do therapeutic karaoke and am looking for a road case to house all equipment so it is basically roll case in, plug in and start show. I found a case design that does what I need with few mods. However was not impressed with the quality and it seemed way over priced. Wondering if I could connect with you and get a quote
SURE THING. Email me using the email in description box pkease...
Derek, how can I get the aluminum rail stock and rounded end caps and hardware you used on the box? I am making tack boxes for a horse trainer friend and these pieces are ideal. maybe the latches too. Hope its no bother...
Call Penn Elcom
But will it fit in the storage area of the tour bus?
Candy would have loved that if she were still selling merch.
Customer asked for these specs so I'm assuming they know if it would fit under the bus or in the trailer behind the bus...
What is the name of the product you used to cover the wood? Great video. Many thanks.
ABS material. Got it at TCH in Dallas TX
Can someone tell me what tool he uses to attach the shelving inside?
18ga Brad nailer
What is the name a black cover
nice! what's that matt black lining you pasted on the shelf, is it acrylic sticker?
Its ABS material from TCH in dallas
thanks!
@@DerekConwayTX
when u pulled that handle off why u should always use washers behind your rivets :/
Not always but there, yes. Or nuts and bolts!
Cómo se llama el material de la lámina negra que recubre la lámina de triple o madera prensada?
Gracias
ABS sheet from TCH in Dallas TX
Made in USA 👌
Damn right!!!!
What do you call to that black color sheet
Plastic laminate sheet, got it at TCH in Dallas TX
How do I buy this or the plans to build for my self????
This was a customer project and I have no plans for it. You may be able to use your own dimensions watching this vid.
Please how can I get the wallpaper you used in lamination of the flight case the black stuff
Its called ABS. I got it from TCH in Dallas TX
@@DerekConwayTX please how can I get it in Nigeria
Call them and ask to ship the order to nigeria. You'll pay for the freight charges but if you cant get it where you are you have to have it shipped
Price kya h
Hi do make this for sale
Exelent work!, What is that material called?? 1:13
ABS Plastic Sheet most likely.
great stuff but that conversation was a bit weird hahaha
Would you be willing to share dimensions and materials?
Cant remember dimensions, half inch ply and all the pro materials from TCH in Dallas.
Where do you buy this type of hardware
TCH in Dallas TX
Give Penn Elcom a call. They may have better pricing
what is the thickness of that wood ? and which paint do you use ? thx !
1/2in ply and oil based black paint
Seems like you could've saved yourself a lot of work by just starting with an ikea shelf instead of building one first..
Lol yeah right...
Not bracing the casters but securing them directly to the base is sketchy AF. So are the non-scuff caster wheels, venues don't like scuff marks all over their floors, especially the better venues, theaters, amphitheaters, proper concert halls, etc. I wouldn't give this build terribly long under touring conditions. Yikes.
Been rolling two years...well not so much in 2020...
Casters on 3/4” caster plate attached to the underside of the case with t nuts and 5/16th bolts with lock washers will do it
I think your table has a lot of play. I don't like the idea. Put more weight on it and it will become looser.
@@arturodavila8581 how much weight do you think would make it looser?
