January, 2025 GAS PRICES in Palm Springs, CA!

- It's January 23, 2025 and I just filled up my car with gas at our local Walmart in Palm Springs, CA.
My Gas Buddy app said its the cheapest gas in Palm Springs today.
The funny thing is, the filling station sign says one price, the app has another price and the pump is a different price. I paid $3.89 per gallon.
Please feel free to share your local gas prices with me in the comments section.
$2.99 here in NM. I try to keep my tank on full. Every time I come across a gas station with low prices I stop and top off the tank.
The gas prices have gone down some. I used to squeeze the nozzle once or twice before I took it out of my tank. Since my gas station has replaced the pumps there you can't do that anymore. Once it shuts off that's it. Thanks for the great story and it will be fun to see what happens the gas prices. You and Jim take care.
That's interesting. Sometimes the pump shuts off after 15 seconds when I'm pumping. I would end up with a half a gallon of gas if I couldn't turn it back on. :-O
I live in CA just like Steve, and one thing people not living in California sometimes forget is that we all pay 68.2cents of tax (PER GALLON) for gas, as of January 2025. That includes state tax, local tax, federal tax…and an overtax tax. 🤣
Thanks for the reminder H! 😳😲😩
The Newsom tax to support his $100B non-high speed train that goes from nowhere to nowhere. LoL.
Gas here in a northern suburb of Pittsburgh is 2.79 yes I always end my gas with a 5 or a 0
In Somerset at GetGo it is 3.53 and with gas buddy you get another 18 cents off the average in my area is approximately 3.53😊😊😊.
😆👍
That’s higher than I would’ve thought. That’s good that you use the gas buddy app. I use it online to find the cheap gas, but I don’t use the actual app itself. I guess I could save another $.10 if I did. 🤔
@@steveinpalmspringsca look into it because a lot of times a different holidays you get different perks the lowest Perk that I know of is 3 cents but it can go up to 30 cents now this is on the free app they also have an app that you have to join and you pay monthly for and your discounts are bigger if you drive a lot that would pay but if you don't drive a lot I would just use the free app sweetie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Steve...happy for you the gas prices are going down ...now you can travel ...great....have fun ..take care....... Deborah 🇨🇦
Good morning, Mr. Steve. I use only Chevron, and it's $2.78 per gallon here in Macon, Georgia.
Mom and I love all the videos. Stay safe. ❤
You’re lucky that your gas is so cheap there! 😄👍
$2.95 in Ohio. Happy Sunday Steve!!😊❤
I always try to get an even dollar amount like $20.00 even or $35.00 😁
@@leesashriber5097 you've got no chance of that in UK, the price side of the pump is like a slot machine screen, the gallons side is SLOW though 🙄
@surreyscouse2873 , I'd probably go nuts 😂
Great video Steve
$3.03 in Marion Indiana.
Hi Steve! This is a great idea for a series. I finally found that Arco station I was talking about a while back? The one that is really cheap, but I can never find it? Regular there is $4 right now.
3689 N Indian Canyon. It’s a good one to check for the cheapest price. But my Nephew tells me Costco is the cheapest. I can’t wait to see what you find out.
Unfortunately, Costco is about an hour round-trip from us so it doesn’t make it worthwhile. And Arco doesn’t take credit cards. 🙁
@ oh I’m sorry. I was not thinking. We only go like once a month for everything and of course, why wouldn’t you gas up? My bad. Well I hope the people here can at least benefit from knowing where the Arco is, thank you for that. But yeah, they should know, I use my debit/credit card and cash.
@@dianelipson5420 I've gone to that Arco station on Indian Canyon. It is one of the cheaper stations in the lower desert!
@@EarlyRiser-- it almost always has a good price right? ❤️
@@dianelipson5420 Yes, When I want to gas up on my way back to the high desert this Arco station I know will have cheaper gas.
Great video
$2.53 was my per gallon on my last fill up, a week ago. I have a Bronco, and a fill up lasts me a few weeks. I mostly travel local and don’t have to drive far. I’m in Knoxville. As I fill up my gas tank, I also “tap, tap tap“ my gas. I like it to be on a even number.😂🤣🤪
😂👍
Around $2.80 here in Northern New Jersey.💁🏻♀️⛽️
?? About $3.20 in Union County NJ
Hi Steve 👋 I can't afford a car. So, no gas. I always thought everyone topped off their tank by coming up with an even number. Tapping on the nozzle. 😂 ⛽️
Lol I just thought it was me. Not having a car is definitely one way to not have to pay these ridiculous gas prices. 😳😂👍
I do that too!😎
😂👍
I am glad i dont drive anymore. Thanks for video.
Hope you and, Jim are well Steve
I got gas this morning at a Shell station here in Charleston SC. Premium was $3.89 (I get this grade for my car).. Regular was $2.90. Interested to see how your 12-month turn out! Have a great week ahead, Steve. :-)
Thanks for sharing that with us Collin! 👍
Thanks for sharing, Steve, Gas Buddy is a good app, but I'm like you , try to fill up once a month, sometimes trying to find cheap gas, burn more , as for those people with lawn maintenance business etc it's a plus, corner store is Mobil 323 for regular unleaded,am sure it's cheaper somewhere in county, Between CALIFORNIA AND ALASKA WIth higher fuel costs Diesel, running about 8 to 9 a gallon❤❤❤
Hey Steve, 319 gallon up and down, with a new POTUS in office, might even come down more
Too hot to live there for me, and every thing is over priced. But thanks for info. I am waiting for friends to return from visit that purchased a place to fill me in before I go out for a visit.
$3.89. Sam's Club in Huntington Beach, CA. $4.45 Shell. $4.69 Chevron. All on opposite corners of the same intersection.
Thanks for sharing that with us Bill! That's lower than I would have guessed at all three. :-)
Last time I filled my tank was a couple days ago and it was around $3.12 a gallon depending on which gas station you went to. I'm in Florida.
Here in Thailand gas is pumped for you. They always add a whole lot more after the nozzle shuts off. And, I think I have told you before but the government keeps the prices of gas and diesel pretty steady with subsidies. I pay about $3.80 per gallon here for diesel. That really hasn’t changed in the 4 years I have been here.
You definitely have a lot of benefits over there. The last time I remember going into a gas station and having an attendant fill up the tank was with grandma back in the 1960s or 70s lol! 😳😆👍
Is there an electric vehicle in your future? Do you have a E-bike or considered getting one? I've thought about getting a cargo E-bike because all the stores I go to are close to my house.
Here in Palm Springs bicycles are run over by drivers all the time, so I would never ride a bike in the streets here or an E bike! I hope your area is safer. Be careful. 🙏🤞😳😲😩
Yes, i do the round up thing at the gas station however, my car is a diesel and it gets great mileage, almost 50 miles per gallon (highway)!
Wow, that’s impressive mileage! 😄👍
2.85 this morning in MN
Gas prices here in the east are better. 😄👍⛽️🚗
Because the eastern part of the country is directly connected to oil pipelines from the Gulf of Mexico. California and the rest of the west coast is not. Besides the oil pumped in California, most of the oil is shipped in which makes oil in the west more expensive. Here in Las Vegas, we get 90% of our oil from terminals in California, the CALNEV pipe runs from Colton, CA to North Las Vegas with stops at Harry Reid International and Nellis AFB there are two pipes, one is a 14 inch line and the other parallel line is 8 inches. The rest of the oil comes from the UNEV pipeline from refineries in Utah. This is why our gasoline is always expensive but less than California due to lower fuel taxes. Sometimes, on the rare time I am on that side of town, I got to Nellis AFB and buy gas which is tax free.
CA with approximately 70 cents a gallon TAX (WTF!) is the highest. I don't overfill my tank - I was once told not to by a mechanic and it stuck with me- no clue if he was right - think people don't like "drip" after you over fill the ruins paint. . If you're not paying cash (credit or debit card) why do you want an even $ amount? LOL that seems odd and more a throwback to years ago 70s/80s/90s when most paid cash . Fun video!
Thanks for sharing that with us Shane. 👍
Sometimes an overfill causes a vapor lock. Not sure why anyone would pay cash, except to save the 10c surcharge. There is one Mobil station in town that literally charges $1.00 a gallon surcharge for using a credit card, and has been for about 20 years.
@@SurfCityBill Thanks for info. is that the Exxon Mobil on Ramon? I noticed that the other day!
@@ShaneLiberty515 It's on Beach Blvd in Huntington Beach.
Last refuel was $2.55 per in S.A. Texas
We're about a dollar below you, but our area is way below yours when it comes to other ammenities😊. I have ocd so a 5 or 0 is mandatory lol
As I've mentioned, I shop mainly at Albertsons/Vons because I like their Just 4 U program that gives discounts on items I frequently buy. But also for the points I earn. You can redeem points at the pump at any Chevron or Vons (the cheapest) gas stations. I usually fill up once per month and can get as much as $1.00 off per gallon using my points. So if I get 15 gallons, I've just saved $15.00. 💰🙂
That’s excellent, but are the gas prices at those stations a dollar more per gallon than Walmart?
@@steveinpalmspringsca Pretty sure Vons gas station (in front of Vons Palm Sprirngs) is one of the cheapest in the area, probably same as WalMart. I'vs been driving the extra mile or so to get gas there for years because of the lower price. Not sure of Chevron prices but I'd think it wouldn't be too much more if they are.
Hi Steve How much does it cost to service your car here in Ireland it costs 250 euros approx ...hope your eyes are ok...Patrick in Ireland
Hi Patrick, it really varies a lot depending on what service you’re having done. But it’s always very expensive. 😩
In Key West it's $3.84 gallon as of this morning. I drive a Volkswagen Jetta. I don't drive much anymore. Here in Key West I own a EV scooter 🛵. I don't need to use my car much.
I watched a video today about Mrs. Sinatra who was killed there in Palm springs in the plane crash 1977 or January. I remember that incident. Ironically Dean Martin's son also was killed in a plane crash in Palm springs and he was in the service. That was a 1987. That was an interesting video. I don't think Mr Sinatra was ever the same again and neither was Dean Martin.
Yes, I saw Traces video too. He did a very good job. I was planning to make the very same video, but I guess I don’t need too now.
I’m in San Diego and pay about the same. I get mine at Costco also One reason it’s so high is because our wonderful Governor has added 50 cents a gallon several times. We are the same as Hawaii. I’m like you, Retred, smaller car, don’t drive as much. I fill up once a month.
Yep, I do it too!
In North Georgia, it is $2.77
Gas prices about the same here in Arizona
Not bad. I paid $3.69 the other day here in Washington State.
I get my gas at Arco. Best price here in the Southbay of LA. I pay cash and always specify an exact amount like $30.
My husband got gas at Costco (San Diego) a few days ago.
He said they don’t require a Costco card to buy gas.
Wow, I didn't know that!
The cheapest gas that I've seen in my area of central Illinois is $3.20 a gallon. That's the same as before-covid prices. At least here. We pay more for tax.
My cars brake line is shot. I'm saving a ton of gas money right now.
3.53
Wow, we are paying 40 cents less in the high desert, 3.43/gallon (29 Palms to Yucca Valley). I'm bringing a friend to the eye doctor in PS on Tuesday, so I'll make sure to fill it up before I leave! When I pay with cash, I always fill to a full number, say $15. With a debit card, I still do this since it's anchored in my brain. I also don't go below 1/2 a tank.
Wow, I would’ve thought your prices would be higher since you’re more remote. I guess they are just taking advantage of all the tourist here in Palm Springs. Glad to know I’m not the only one who does that lol! 😆👍
Be careful using a debt card at a fuel pump. One reason is skimming. Always use Apple Pay or a tap-to-pay card. Additionally, gas stations are now putting a hold of $200.00 on your card that stays for a day or two even though you may buy $20.00 worth of gas. For most people, not a problem but those living on the financial edge, that can be a massive problem. Always try to pay with a credit card and pay the bill in full at the end of the month. Don't pay interest to the banksters.
@@kennixox262 100% agree.
@@kennixox262 Thanks for the reminder! I usually pay cash to get the cheaper price. I also always pull on the entry where the card is inserted and I only use my debit card at a station I go to all the time, which never puts a hold on the amount, and it's one of the reasons I always pay a whole number so I know it's me. I also pay off my credit cards immediately. No reason to pay banks interest if it isn't necessary. Since we are in a rural area, folks post online when they get charged a hold on a card, and then others stop going there. I haven't heard of it happening in our area for two years.
I tap tap but its because of points i get on my membership card, they always measure a point at the round numbers. I hate to lose a point because the pump clicked off at
.89c, and i only need .11c for my point.
Oh wow, that’s so interesting to hear! 🤪🤔
I live just north of Pittsburgh, PA. Gas prices here are anywhere from $3.14 to $3.69. So you aren’t that much above us.
We buy 3.5 million barrels of oil per day from Canada and the new 25% trade tariffs will add a few bucks per gallon.
😩
It's $2.89 gallon in Nebraska
i'm in minnesota. at the end of biden's term, gas was 3.19. now its 2.99.
$2.64 -2.95 Erath Co. Tx.
$3.19 in Anchorage Alaska
Wow, that is cheap! 😳👍
Eggs are more money
Pretty soon people will need to take out loans to buy eggs and gas lol! 😳😲😆
Chicken cost less than eggs.
Central Texas $2.53 as of 1/27
😄👍
Gas here in the Ozarks of Missouri is $2.69
You are very lucky, Donna 😄👍
I just put gas in my today $45 it lasted me 2weeks because it seamer in Australia I am using my motorbike all the time I am only using my car about to times a week it was $161 letter what I think is 3 letters is one g so we are about the same price if you put $385 3ways it would be about the same prices
Wow!
Is that a lot? Seems cheap to me but I drive an electric car.
Yes, almost twice the price of most places in the country. 😩
@steveinpalmspringsca hm. Good to know. I tapped out of the gas market when prices were over $6.00/gallon in CA.
I live close to where I work so I spend 10.00 a week for gas
No once it stops fueling, that's it. Just put it back, close the lid, and move on...lol
That can cause damage to some cars because of the filler neck. Don't believe everything you read 3:14
What can?
@@steveinpalmspringsca Overfilling.
On January 23rd, 2025, I paid $2.83 a gallon for 89 octane regular gasoline just outside of Columbus Ohio
That is much lower than here in Palm Springs!
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Roughly $8 a gallon in UK.
Most of it is tax.
Yikes! I thought it was high here! 😳😲😩
@steveinpalmspringsca we'd see $3 as almost "free"
I have gas
😬
Your gas is cheaper your gas is only $115 per letter
When I purchased my TESLA it came with "Life Time Free Charging". I will never sell it..
😄👍
@Bazerkly Well that was a good deal, hopefully you get many years of use out of it & to really take advantage of those unlimited free charges.
I am sure Apartheid Boy Musk thanks you for the purchase.
I believe your gas prices have a much higher tax per gallon
That's an understatement. That's a real hardship on the people struggling in CA but the govt doesn't seem to care about that.
My gas is about $1 more than you
Wow, I thought we were highest! 😳😩
Dude. It's 2.29 in Houston. Your TAXES are YOUR problem. Thank democrats.
