Oh yes stock standard is enough for many people and many situations. I personally like slightly over powering my rigs no matter the size, it's definitely handy having back up power if needed.
@@rccrazy ok thank you, cause if its not necessary for a new esc then thats awesome. I just finished building my limitless so im probably not gonna convert my grom for a while lol
LETS GO NEW VID!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉I love body on the grom I like those colours the best nice brushless conversion I liked how you told us all the different parts to it as I said before I like to learn 👍
100% mate the styling on these is awesome! Yes I sometimes remember to mention the important things that should be mentioned🤦 Can never learn too much in my opinion😁 Thanks Zac✌️
That's a little beast on 3s !! I think it held up great considering it took a few " cartwheels of death " & numerous hits to only blow one shock cap= impressive!! Another great video‼️👍👍🦾🦾🤘🤘
Yeah lacks a little power on 2s but 3s is AWESOME🤪 Absolutely held up longer than I thought and nothing that can't be fix infact I already emptied and repaired the shock, super impressive in my book👌 Thanks Dome🤘😁
Bro it amazes me the effort and dedication you poor into the hobby I am truly blessed to know you brother Stay awesome Saul these videos are just so next level stellar awesome 🤘👍👍👊😎
I do it cause I love it man! As hard as it gets at time even just picking the next video to make, I am doing what I love as basically my job so I can't complain about that😁 Mate you have helped me out and been there for me multiple times, I am very happy to have become your mate!👊 THANKS A TONE MICHAEL🙏🤘
Moving on 3s now for sure, bit warm though😬😅 Thanks mate👍 The wing is just 1mm polycarbonate or plexiglass sheets from the local hardware store. You can also use lexan like the RC car body's but it's no where near as strong as polycarbonate
Definitely the best video to show what a brushless Grom can do on 3s. You’re jumping it 60ft out! I’ve been waiting to see what it can really do. Keep it up. I’d love to know the right kv to get good performance and temps. Also, maybe bigger tires? Can it double/triple backflip, still stay balanced on the ground, AND not get too hot?
Thanks mate I really appreciate you saying that🙏 It is a little weapon and still so much potential left in the bag! I personally wanted to go 3300kv but a bigger can size, probably 2845 but I can not find mod0.5 pinions for 3.175mm shaft easy and that size motor has 3.175 shaft😭 I did find a much higher kv 2840 motor with 2.3mm shaft(revealing that soon) But hopefully it will have better performance with the stock gearing but only having to run 2s. Currently it doesn't have the wheel weight or speed for triples, possibly doubles with the right ramp but it definitely need more back up speed and as you said larger or even just heavier wheels👌
@@rccrazy Your quite welcome. I was referencing the battery tray. I would think its the same as they use the exact same battery. Awesome video and detailed overview of the Granite Grom. The custom rear spoiler is such a great idea and looks so nice. 🏆
Love it mate thanks so much for explaining everything and linking everything. Little rocket now did pretty well took the hits well and the shocks held out longer than I thought. What metal shocks have you ordered mate? I see there is a oil filled diff upgrade also hobbies direct has plenty of listed parts unfortunately seems stock is taking forever to get here 😕 Like the little rear body wing you have cut out and attached also 😁👏🏻
You are very welcome Michael😁 I'll get there eventually, have all the info and all the links for all my vids🥴 I just used the Maverick Atom alloy shocks I had on the Atom, they are only about 5mm shorter but definitely feel better and MUCH stronger. And yep, some channels have been reviewing and advertising the Arrma brand upgrades as if they are easy to get, no one has them🤦 Hence myself going for GPM parts. Hot Racing I think it is have the steel diff cups but I wouldn't use them with the plastic internal gears, definitely need those upgraded diffs! And yeah that wing does a fantastic job of keeping the tray part of the body together, dads was already squished after 2 drives🤣
Thanks will have a look at the shocks and get some…. Have also been eyeing off an Atom 😂 Going to get some GPM parts also. I think there has been a few strikes going on at the docks so I’m guessing there is a lot of held up ships with shipping containers so I dare say that’s why stock of a lot of things has been terrible. Hoping this changes and we start getting some goodies coming back into stock. Cheers mate
Honestly the Atom once you get some shims in the diff and grease in them aswell it is a tough little car. The oil shocks help heaps also, but it still works out less than like $150aud. Controller is annoying but easy to swap out for a hobby grade system and little brushed esc👌 But yes some of the GPM upgrades for the Gram are well worth getting and they look BEAUTIFUL🤩
Thanks mate! With this motor I kind of needed full throttle for backflips because the car does pull nose down a little when jumping, no weight in the wheels either which makes it harder to get the rotational force.
This one is 4500kv so 4000kv would be slower on the same gearing, you could go to maybe a 5000kv to 5600kv with the same esc I'm using and it would be more capable. Higher kvs faster speed but they will heat up more as the RPM is higher. If you go higher than around 5600kv you may need a higher amp esc like a 35a or even 45a.
@@rccrazy oh I must have heard it wrong from the video about the kv. I have a 1/16 vxl system at home. The grom looks nice and easy to work on but I really don’t want to give up the acrobatic potential since I have 2 e revo 1/16. Also how to guy compare the grom to the tk 16?
Yeah totally fair enough, I've not had a mini e-revo so I'm not sure how they would compare to a Grom. But the TK16 is actually a very tough little car and very stable, I would probably say more stable than the Granite Grom but not the Typhon Grom. Hopefully you would be going brushless because the stock system to put it as nice as possible is junk😅 Stock Grom electronic far better!
What pinion gear did you end up with? I've got a HW 30A with HW G3 2435 4500kv combo, I'm just itching to install in this truck. I put the same one in a LaTrax Rally with a 54T/16T a couple of days ago and she's a bad little B. stock brushed had a 14T with was to much torque for the HW system and the rally.
Just a left over price of lexan from one of the clear shell I painted. I drilled the 2 existing hole out from the inside with a 2mm drill bit and then long enough screws to go all the way through and then lock nut them on.
I put a 4200kv 2440 in my tracer/hbx16889, spot in on 2s and mental on 3s 😁 i know 4500kv was a bit high for you but with that gearing i honestly think itll be great for you 😁
Thank you! No not bad for the servo, the gyro can negatively effect the car when jumping, because it's trying to correct the car but the car is not on the ground it seems to get confused and does some very strange and unexpected movements to the car. These gyro actually change directions when upside-down aswell so for a few second during a backflip it's actually correcting the car the wrong way😅
@@rccrazy Also I was wondering if it’s all good to run this hobby wing 30amp esc in the jjrc? Does the lower amp rating make it more susceptible to overheating/breakages using higher c 3s batteries?
I would avoid using a lower amp esc than 35a with the stock jjrc motor and gearing as it is too high kv and is a long motor so I think it would potentially damage a 30a escape on 3s. The Grom motor is more kv but much smaller physically therefore requires less continuous and peak amps.
I just put in a 18 turn traxxas motor, geared it up to an 18t and added a fan. Fast enough for me lol.
Oh yes stock standard is enough for many people and many situations.
I personally like slightly over powering my rigs no matter the size, it's definitely handy having back up power if needed.
Did you use the same esc?
I think they are still using the stock esc and controller.
I could be wrong though🤔😄

@jpassaro9488 yes hopefully it just overheated and went to a safety cut-off rather than actually damage it🤞
Good luck mate🙂

@@rccrazy ah okay. Do you think a 4000kv would do a lot of different? I have one spare at home I could use if I bought a grom

I had mine out for a walk today, picked it up and forgot it had a slight gyro, I thought it was cool to see on one of these
This car has no gyro stock it's the DumboRC radio gyro.
That seems to be the ultimate 1/18 basher. Was that a 2838 motor? How many kvs?
Very close if not the best handling 1/18 scales I've ever had👌

Stock diffs? Mine broke and no replacements to be found.
Yes stock diffs.
Come on Arrma, we need the parts!
What brushless kit did you use, I couldn't open more description
Oh really that's odd.
It was a HSP 2440 4500kv motor and a hobbywing 16bl30a esc.
Is it worth the investment
Now I have some upgraded diffs absolutely, close to the best quality 1/18 you'll find, actual steel parts not pot metal.
wheres the gyro on stock version and how do you turn it on and off?
They don't have a gyro stock
How come you don’t use the gyro when bashing? Is it bad for the servo? Good video btw
