Bankai being personal goes deeper than most people realize. A zanpaktou is a physical representation of "the three faces" that people have. Sealed is the face you show to strangers, shikai is the face you show to friends, and bankai is your true, hidden face. This is why some bankai are WILDLY different from their shikai, because the wielders true self is nothing like the persona they usually show. Soi fon is a perfect example but not the only one. Also, bankai can evolve. As the wielder grows and changes, so to does their bankai. Bleach is full of symbolism and personally I like to think of a broken bankai being a sign that something about you is broken and needs to be repaired/changed. We see this happen with Mayuri, it's subtle but the change is definitively there.
That’s really interesting and really gives context to why Ichigo is basically always in full release; he’s presented as someone who is super authentic. What you see is what you get and as soon as Ichigo learns who his true self is, he’s more than happy to present it to the world.
@@kashtrey And then we get to the Arrancar invasion and Ichigo has to put on a mask, as he hides his internal struggle from his friends and attempts to forge some sort of killer instinct that goes against his core. This backfires spectacularly when he loses control, becoming just a mindless beast in order to protect Orihime.
@@kashtrey This is true actually. Ichigo doesn't have a sealed state, because the face he shows to his friends (shikai) is the face he shows to everyone. On the opposite end of that spectrum, we got Unohana :)
Getting stronger in bleach isn’t just training physically, 80% of it is training your mental and spiritual state. Even in the TYBW when ichigo is in the soul palace, he’s not lifting 5 ton weights and doing 1 trillion sit ups. He’s literally just learning about his family, his sword, and literally just the history of the soul king and he gets crazy strong. Even with renji and rukia. They straight up stand still facing each other with wooden sticks in order to withstand the spiritual pressure of the area. It’s so unique
The way you describe it, I wish I had that onsen they used so I could get mine, its like discomfort in a way, the more you take it the more comfortable you get in crazy situations
One of the best moment of our childhood is imagining what our shikai and bankai would be if we are soul reapers. Just grab your trusted stick and shout out the name !!
OH MY GOD, tell me yours please, I havent done sinnce bleach wasnt avalilable in croatia as a kid but I’d like mine to be something similar to shinjis or aizens but more cool 😂 I like the mind control concepts. NGL I WANT MINE to make the enemies fall in love w me. Or just having so much spiritual pressure they cant move hahahha
This video fails at justifying its claim. Domain expansions lose value every time they get used, you say this but provide NO example whatsoever. I would say on the other end, that domain expansions GAIN in value between sukuna's first time using one(where we don't understand what makes it so amazing) to the time he uses one against Mahoraga. We are shown how strong mahoraga is and YET, he gets defeated in a domain expansion. This video works fine for peopel who have seen bleach but as someone who has never watched it, you gave me no desire or wish to do so. I do not feel like you explained what makes bankai special you just.. put random words together. Please, review your script bro. I'm not even saying your claim is wrong, maybe Bankai IS the best power up but you just absolutely FAIL at explaining why and proving so. Your supporting arguments are.. plain stupid and false. "In one piece luffy doesn't just say, 'go in your beastial form' what the fuck does that even mean bruh.. What is the relevance of that? You say after that every character in bleach wants to fight in their true form but bro, if that's the case then is it REALLY that perfect a power up? Sukuna doesn't auto-pop domain expansions and neither does Gojo because they are SO strong that they attack anyone caught within them relentlessly. Gojo's domain, just like Sukuna's come with risks. It is so much power that the user must decide how and when to use it(gojo needed to use .02 second domain expansion to not kill civilians per example, sukuna needed to shorten the range of his DE to not kill Megumi per example, Mahito needed to use .02 to not touch sukuna's soul per example). THAT is a perfect, amazing, weighted power up. I rarely comment on yt videos, and I rarely would for this long anyway, but goddamn is this a bad video with a terrible ass script. "Bankai is rare, that's what makes it cool" I looked up Bankai in wiki and found 27 links in wiki. In Domain Expansion wiki I found 14. But Bleach has more chapters and characters I would assume so maybe 27 is very few(I can't say since I've never watched the show) but still. 27 is a LOT of bankais. Now then you said that you have the mystery of a bankai and I can admit that's a fair point. MOST domain expansions are relatively sample to comprehend, but that isn't the case for all of them and the sure hit factor is expressed in different ways. You also mentioned that Bankai has weight--as if to imply the other powerups don't--This is simply untrue. You named Domain Expansions, Sharingans, and Devil Fruits. ALL three of those have risks to be face from use or overuse. Being a DF user means you can't swim and have a whole SUBSTANCE that negates you. Domain Expansions can also be broken and also mean that you can't use your technique after they are used, too sharingans cause blindness. Before you respond that Sharingan Blindness and Domain Expansion technique fatigue can be overriden. The override process is INCREDIBLY difficult. In naruto you must KILL a loved one to obtain the eternal Magekyo, which is traumatic to the character and carries plot relevance. Then DE Override requires brain rewriting which is not just rare but super risky in itself. Your final statement, "bleach just does something to me' is the only honest part of your video. it is the only respectable one too. This video is fucking ass FROM a logical perspective. It's okay that you like bleach's power up better but don't pretend to have good logical arguments to support your claim when you don't. It's okay to like the shit just cuz you like it. "You have someone who uses it once and destroys everything"(sukuna, rinnegan almighty push) "You have a spammer"(sukuna and gojo) "Some that never get the chance to use theirs"(many uchiha, Most devil fruit users w awakenings, most jjk characters).
Of those 27 bankai some of them might be from games that aren't canon. Some from movies that aren't canon. Some from fillers that aren't canon. Some from novels that are actually canon but most anime watchers wouldn't have seen. So most bleach watchers wouldn't really get to see 27 bankai.
People may call ichigo and a few others a "bankai spammer" but it actually makes sense for him to use it a lot. He may have achieved bankai in the soul society arc but he hadn't really mastered it. This was shown in his fight with byakuya and white mentions how he's no good at it. Him using it a lot is him training with it. The same thing can be said with hitsugaya, who has an immature bankai he has to train in order for it to reach it's full potential.
I look at ichigo’s bankai through his personality, he uses it when shit needs to be done… He always upgrades when he cant save his friends, so he gets stronger. And you point also makes sense with it. Spam it until you master it
It goes deeper than you think.
Part of it is that bankai is basically a thing from the very start and was respected as the pinnacle ability, for the most part. A lot of other power ups end up feeling worse because the authors end up making crap up on top of it. For instance, the sharingan was important but then oh there’s mangyeko and oh now there rinnegan. Or the classic example of SsJ is the ultimate god like power and now we have 18 flavors. Kishi resisted the urge to just power creep with a third release. In the few circumstance where folks unlocked a new bankai it was strongly tied to the narrative I.e. Ichigo gets a new one because he gains understanding of his lineage, maiyuri gets new ones all the time because it speaks to him experimenting on himself, etc. Power ups are a lot more satisfying because they’re about telling us something narratively, not just ass pulling something because you wrote a villain that was op.
And we don't even know what powers Ichigo's true bankai has yet. Same with Aizen's bankai. It's quite strange to think about that we haven't been shown the final release of both the protagonist as well as the most prominent antagonist
To me the only thing missing from Yamamotos awesome Bankai was that he said it before using it. Whenever someone just says "Bankai" I just get the chills.
Bankai is something special and rarely seen, the Bleach fillers made it seem like everyone's doing bankai all the time, but it is mostly Hitsugaya, Ichigo and Byakuya who use it a bit more.
Nah brooo, i didnt watch the fillers, only main story, thats why my opinion is as is. Thanks for telling me that, I didnt know people watched all the fillers 😅
nen abilities are the only other thing that works like this to me where you are super curious about the abilities and how they build upon the initial characters
I mean, its true every user has his own nen ability but its like there's no such buildup and release as in bleach. Gon only has that type of vibe. Killua just straight up turns his electricity up whenever he wants
I really like Bleach and the overarching power system, but I think you were pretty unfair to domain expansion when comparing it to bankai. You critiqued domain expansion as a power up due to Akutami supposedly spamming it and it therefore loses its value, but is this not what happens in bleach too? After he gets bankai does Ichigo ever fight for a prolonged period without using it? and the only time it ever changes is at the very end of the manga and we don't even know its exact ability. So like 80% of Ichigo's fights are him using a power up that we've already seen dozens of times before. The same goes for Toshiro and Byakuya, although to a lesser extent. Toshiro pretty much uses his bankai non-stop from even the soul society arc and after soul society Byakuya pretty much does the same thing. And this happens with even more characters like soi fon, to the extent that by the time of the thousand year blood war arc we've seen bankai so much that the only ones that really hit hard are the ones that are still unknown by that point, like shunsui and Kisuke. I might be misunderstanding what you're arguing through this comparison but I just don't see how you can justifiably hold the standard for jjk that domain expansion losses its value because Akutami spams it too much, whilst not applying that same standard to Bleach when characters like Toshiro, Ichigo and Byakuya exist. It just doesn't seem like a fair critique
Alright, so DE (domain expansion) is a watered down version, its mostly focused on a zone or a one's barrier. Meanwhile bankai are all different, some are zone oriented, some are straight up power ups. For example I'd like to explain why its okay for bleach to do it. Ichigo as a character in his core, wants to get things done. Everytime he was not strong enough he trained or went the extra mile with white and zangetsu so he could save his friends. He always did what it took to save someone close to him, this reflects in his bankai. He does everything in his power he has so he gets things quickly done because he's more oriented to fixing the thing and not thinking about saving his energy up. His bankai is meant to be spammable because he will use it as many times as he needs to , to save his dear friends. Byakuya uses it elegantly, he can't really show his royalty more and elegance through nothing else than his bankai, their bankai's are multi purpose and it reflects who they are (read the pinned comment for more info if you want to understand it) whereas in jjk, if you read the manga (i wont spoil it) but in jjk, you'll soon see when next seasons get adapted, it will lose its value because barriers are meant to be broken and they will lose value. The amount of explanations gege needed to make it work was too much, he legit took almost a whole as chapter to explain a single domain expansion ( he didn't originally want to focus his story to a power up to showcase something with it, its not said that sukuna is a butcher he's the king of curses but yet in his DE he just slices you up to bits) and once again, you'll see with time how it'll lose value. It still is cool but its not the main shtick in JJK as in bleach Bankai is. Also you saw that mahoraga was more op than a DE, its an ability to summon him, not a power up directly. Idk if you read about JJK and chapter 226 and such , especially the end of jjk sucks ass because of DE and how it apparently works, after reading it for 2 hrs i still couldn't understand it... But Hitsugaya also gets a pass to use his, brother needs to remind us he's a genious, and his is just a power up that gives him abilities, so he spams it to showcase how young he is and how he has a bankai at that age to showcase the difference between him and the others. Just ask yourself why does Toshiro spam his, and you'll be able to answer it if you try to get to know the character a bit more. If there's anything I missed you're free to comment again
6:02 so the characters in Naruto don’t call out a predictable/universal power up as that is just a tongue and cheek way of acknowledging the real fight doesn’t start until said power up happens which highlights the repetitive nature of many Bleach fights.
I look at it with the perspective of, oh its that time. And then he tension starts building up. In naruto the tension wad building up until naruto saw sasukr
Certantly, that's your opinion, i agree its the most hype for sure but the best power system is a stretch. I just like the power up that bankai is, not a power system since its not as detailed as other anime
1:11 I disagree. Domain Expansions are not a cheap imitation. There is inspiration especially from Tosen and Yamamoto's Bankais but they aren't the same. Domain Expansions are more environment, they control the user's environment, entrapping their enemy and allowing them to be susceptible to damage due to a massive advantage by the user, based off the user's technique amplified. Bankais have more range and have more to do with the user dominating their inner self to get a new form with increased abilities and special techniques. Bankais are all encompassing, Domain Expansions are more precise.
Bankai is not about dominating your inner self. You can't dominate a part of you and expect results. The essence of bankai is about knowing and accepting all of every part of you. Something that takes centuries for soul reapers. That's why they can evolve over time.
@jadel1108 thats not entirely true. The use of a Bankai is the ability to utilize the full potential of a Zanpakto spirit, which are often stated to have their own personalities and even be at odds with their Soul Reaper initially. A good example is actually Hisagi and his spirit, who are at odds because Kazeshini likes killing and Shuhei is very much against it. Renji even needed to force Zambimaru to let him use its full true name. So saying its dominanting a part of yourself is pretty accurate as a lot of spirits want their Soul Reaper to overcome a flaw or even show their strength in one way or another.
@@jadel1108 not entirely true. it's both. you need to know the origins of your power and accept it, but also dominant your zanpakuto spirit. zambimaru didn't even let renji use his true bankai in the manga until zambimaru was forced to.
the amazing thing about bleach is that each main faction (soul reapers, quincies, arrancars) have that same feeling in their power-ups, at least for me: bankai, resurreccion and vollständig are all incredibly hype for me in their own ways
Its all about what you want to hear, I can give you futher info if you need but I had to scrap a lot od the ideas I had in the video but they didnt make it
Too be honest banaki isn't the best power compared to one piece and naruto the characters in the show especially in the Tybw is cool and all but I wouldnt say it's the best cause of certain characters that spam it a little too much and in naruto one piece it's much straight forward and easy to understand
Well the characters that spam it are characters that need to do so. Ichigos whole stick is doing everything to save the people close to him, he uses it when things get rough so he can finish it fast. Byakuya can also spam it because its not a bankai that takes a lot from him and its essential to show his ellegance through his thousand cherry blossoms. Hitsugaya is a genious kid who acquired it before other captains, we have to be reminded why he uses his. Its their identity, others who use it once are a special story. Its a bit deeper and Kubo lets you to make up your own story if you take the time to ask some questions
You r missing the whole point, Bleach's power system is a tool for Character development as well... Even the world building us for Character development... Kubo made Bankai such that when it's Activated, it's either a win or a loss for the Person using it, ...While Other's miss that nuance, ...Gear 5 work as a definitive power up for Win, but becomes a narrative joke by the end. ..Naruto's power up work consistently but has little to no effect on Battle, Unless he knows a New jutsu, so...Naruto's system is all about Ninja Techniques rather than buff in power, Hence ultimately has little to no intimate Narrative development for MC or anyone. For Ex: Shikamaru loosing Asuma, didn't make his Jutsus more op, or versatile even tho chakara is derived from a mixture of spirit & physique. Lastly, JJK is very incoherent with DEs, like it's almost like Gods power, when these Mfs aren't even a planet level threats, it's like a badly done Power exaggeration... almost as if Gege wanted it be as cool, unique & Badass as Bankai, while also not putting in the Effort and Insight Required for that to happen. In Bleach, Even names of the power are closely linked with the personas, desires, principles and Goals of Characters. It's as if Kubo designed this story for the Intellectuals and high EQ people to unveil the True Essence of Bleach. People who say "You r overanalysing it, it's not that Deep", ...Clearly haven't red Bleach well, or just don't want to love what the Story iS, cuz they hate it for being way way better than to serie, which they wanted to claim to be better than Bleach, but since they have red it now, they feel Emotionally Constipated. Or prolly both Hate it cuz they haven't red it properly, and hence makes them hate Bleach more cuz, they clearly can't see the High Quality.... and we all know they've purposely Handicapped themselves into not being able to see That Exceptional Quality.
@ska4666 I'm not saying bleach is a bad with power system or anything it's quite good but I don't like the fact how you have to remember 30 different Bankais when watching or reading through the entire show with naruto and one piece it's much more digestible with haki and dojutsu it'd much simpler and straight to the point
@siru8137 Well that's totally your preference then, Fact is... BLEACH's power up is a Totally PEAK, ...Nothing comes close in equivalent impact, who knows about future, but I doubt anything can beat it. btw who needs to remember, Bankais lol.. _Haki & Just plain dojutsu were nice Initially in the serie, but now they go overboard and it's messing up their power system._ ...Simple? ... not to offend u, but now Those "Simple" = "Foolish" Dojutsu totally lack the excitement it used to have back then, ...Haki is such wasted potential. That's Why as of recently i having red bleach, i have been saying, _"BLEACH is best & intimately cohesive Work of Fiction from it's generation"_ Everything, literally from the Names till the Lore of Existence itself is closely linked, and as for those who complain of World Building in Bleach, ..I'll like to say "You utter Fools, are u buddies freakin out of mind? Or got Trash built up in that head?" Bleach's World Building is very different from One Piece, Yes! , but it's an Extremely Ignorant statement to call it's lacking in World Building, ..to the point that it feels Boderline Insane to even think. Bleach's World Buliding is as good, if not better than even OP, ...Just look at Buddhist tradition, You'll basically get a crash course on Bleach Universe Building. It's Just that Kubo's approch is very different from Oda's, ...While oda explicitly prides himself and shows off his world "in a Bird view" Kubo explores Bleach-verse with Hints, while explicitly showing the world scapes. This contrast either leads people to feel restless and irritated for not getting all the details, ...while for more patient people, this creates acute Sense of Mystery... and from a Writter Mindset, This is the Best way to Introduce literally anything. It's Peak Genius to hold back just enough info.. to make everything work yet making it feel 'something is missing' only to reveal it later at appropriate time, ...Making the Moment Earned For the Audience.
@ska4666 most the time the bankai just wins them the matches as in with naruto they would still use other moves other just like dojutsu based or tailed beast based abilities to actually win said fight other then like the higher up quincys in bleach and naruto not only being based of the tailed beast and dojutsus And plus I do care about remembering the bankais because if you're gonna go in blind and see a character used a bankai you wouldn't really know what's happening you're just using the enemy lose
You are just so blatantly incorrect it's baffling. This 10 minute video can be summed up in two simplistic points: Bankai are tied to a character's identity; Bankai are often mysterious. This is the norm for most competent shonen manga. Jojo's stands are also tied to their user's personality, and are mysteries that have to be solved by their opponents in order for them to win. Hunter X Hunter's Nen abilities are also tied to their user's personality, and are mysteries that have to be solved by their opponents in order for them to win. Naruto's jutsu and so on are also tied to their user's personality (and often in brilliant, unrecognized ways), and are mysteries that have to be solved by their opponents in order for them to win. I'd say out of all shonen Naruto's power ups have the most thematic meaning and are overall the best. Even a messy manga like One Piece follows this some of the time, with Devil Fruits and other types of abilities being tied to a character's personality. Think of Franky embodying the message and philosophy of the 'battleship' of his flashback. Or of Luffy's poorly written retcon of a fruit, the Nika-nika, embodying his free-spirited nature. Bleach features extremely mediocre slop writing, and the fights are often resolved through deus ex-machina and feature no display of wit and tactic from the characters involved. Bleach is in fact a perfect representation of 'style over substance', and that can honestly be fine for many people. JJK is the same; sloppy writing, but cool visuals and ''hype'' moments that have little to no substance or thematic meaning and etc. However, claiming that the power ups from Bleach are better than the power ups of other shonen is funny to me.
@@ShigiAnime I am not interested in making videos about this, but if you want to further this discussion, feel free to reply and I'll keep the thread going. 🤝
@ I dont have my pc so it would take ages to dicuss it properly but mainly if you have watched bleach and did a bit of deep diving you realize, a person who is the main character is improving without any title, his friends who werent even his friends gets stronger to save them. Ichigo doesnt even know his abilities or what he is, at the end when shit gets tough he gets his ultimatr power up by abandoning a part of himself he didn’t know he had. He just got stronger to push through and save randoms that didnt even care that much about him, he lived through a simulation by going deep inside to ask for power which was granted when he needed it most out of desperation.
@@adamiadamiadami To me jojo’s stands dont go that deep, what typa connection does jotaro have with his? Hxh, gon went to train for so long, his whole life was a training arc just to shoot rock paper scissors, the ultimate power up was when his hair got so tall that it didnt fit the screen, i loved it but its not as stylish as bankai. Also what type of connection does his nen ability have to him shooting jan ken? He had to look inside his soul to realize, oh I’m a kid so I’ll go with that. Killua is from an assasins family, he inherited stuff like Ichigo did… But nen doesnt go deep with it, nen is not a final relase of power. Naruto had sage form, cool he got it out of being with frogs and meditating, he did training for it. Naruto doesnt focus on power ups it focuses on abilities and delivering meaning in the form of convincing and talking. and when it comes to one piece, I think you’re messing up the concept of a power up and an ability. A power up is gear 5, having a devil fruit is an ability, it enables you to use something beside a tool. Meanwhile powerups tend to give you abilities+base stats. To me it seems like you havent really given your all to trying to understand bleach or even dropped it half way. The thing about substance is why bleach is bleach, bankai is meant to be just that. Its a final realese god damn it , thats the whole point. I want to get shit done and style on em with what defies me. Either be it my playful bankai that is represented like an act, a person who is a child in heart showing his final release through a game like show. Be it a cold unnaproachable woman who gets everything i her range frozen while being super elegant since she strives to be a lady. Or even just someone who doesnt still know himself also getting his ability through lineage, ichigo is that example, he only knows getsuga tensho thats his dad’s ability… And his bankai is a show of, yo i dont have fancy stuff, I’m just here to power up and do what needs to be done for the people I know
Lmao. Almost as if thats not like literally every single anime character transformation ever. Infact I cannot think of a sinlge anime character transformation that does not have those two traits.
I think one thing that no one ever talks about with powers is how they relate to the person no one really hates themselves I've only seen bleach actually handle this whole idea
the pinned comment is interesting, a viewer shared how it apparently works (it was in the filler episodes nobody watched) But yeah it's literally a reflection of who that character is at their core. Unlike powers in other anime that can be learned or shared (like Devil Fruits or jutsu), a Zanpakuto grows and evolves with its wielder.
one is just screaming aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh, the other one is just an inner chakra thing. I wont lie gon has a lame power, the power up he gained was nice but the length of the hair is kinda overcooked. the power itself was edgy but the hairstyle was not
Nen ? ...hell naw,... it's sold on just cuz of the Animation, the Power up by itself is nothing, ...only the actions following the power up, is what people care about. Super saiyan worked the very first time when Goku transformed for the 1st time against Frieza on planet namek.... 2nd time it worked when goku turn ss god... & 3rd is when he got ultra-insticts Rest of the time it was all "just Fine" While we r here talking about the literal word "Ban..kai" and it's power up impact on the serie and Narrative as a whole, ..Bankai didn't just win you war of 'Aura' every freakin time that word was uttered, but literally gave you Narrative Advantage, if you read the story carefully... and translate it properly. The aura of that word is evident in the fact that when BLEACH anime and even it's characters were obscured to oblivion 4-5 yrs back ....BAN KAI was the word carrying the AuRA chariot of itself.. That's how significant it is.. Shout anything ... nothing Shout nen ! ...no one Shout Super Saiyan! ...yeh few BUT Shout "Ban Kai" ... literal Chills 👈 (Me before watching Bleach)
while allot of characters in Naruto share abilities every Bleach character is unique even Kido some characters use a kido others can't even cero some Hollows have unique ones also Quincies being completely different to each others this is why i love Bleach powers more than powers in Naruto
yup yup yuppp, it's literally a reflection of who that character is at their core, idk if it limits their kido but characters have the freedom to make their own kido if they're capable enough
Bankai is more impactful for me than any other power up because, there is a satisfying payoff when using it. I like that many bleach characters always fights with shikai at the start and tries to finish a fight with a shikai it is only in the most desperate times where they will use bankai (well i do remember there are those that spam bankai like byakuya, toshiro or komamura and Ichigo obv) and the execution and the effort they do to reveal the bankai is top notch especially in TYBW. I think also that because before TYBW manga arc started many of us have wondered for a long time what are the Bankai of some of the captains since before TYBW both original anime and manga we’ve seen the captains fight mostly in shikai like shunsui, urahara, unohana, yamamoto, rose, shinji and yoruichi and also kenpachi. I believe that it is in TYBW that the phrase BANKAI has become more solidified and even more solidified when CFYOW came into play.
You make a great point! The way Bankai is used sparingly makes it feel super special when it finally happens. Unlike other anime power-ups that get spammed, seeing a captain finally unleash their Bankai (especially in TYBW) feels like a true "oh snap!" moment that's been years in the making.
You forgot to mention some captains hates using bankai, take for example Soi Fong's bankai she really despise it because it doesn't fit for assassination
I think what Bleach teaches us with its power system is that "if you can master yourself, you can master the world and take on any future obstacles to come"
Hmmm now that you mention it yeah it brings back memories but if I’m not wrong he doesnt hype it up all that much. First time I saw him use it was against Sasuke…. Amaterasu was a bit more hype since he screams it, it was hype BUT they dont do the , wait for it……. NOW’s the time, You’re done bozo type of move in naruto. They just use their power ups to get things done. But genjutsu was fire thats a no brainer, wish we saw more of Itachis in the anime. Thanks for the comment though
Sharingan was quite a cool powerup as it also shows the deep state and irony of the Uchiha clan but everyone knows how effective sharingan is after like Itachi fight, amaterasu is mostly easily dealt with and tsukiyomi is not even used after Itachi arc
@@ShigiAnime Yeah, Itachi was cool because at the time the powers of the Sharingan were still a mystery to us. But after the fight with Itachi we basically got a good idea of what the Sharingan could do if awakened.
The fact that even aizen himself doesnt have bankai the rarity of having a bankaj is insanely unique.☝ They say bleach doesnt have a writing? Bro the idea of zanpakuto, shikai and bankai is already a writing cuz its unique to every user identity - character in the story.
Nah, but once they get a shukai if kubo decides to do a hell arc, is a step further. Nobody has a shukai which is above bankai (might be called the ultimate bankai) but I'm note too sure. And out boy aizen just needs a magic ball
Aizen does have a bankai. He mastered being a soul reaper and reach his limit. Every captain has bankai. Kenpachi is the only one that didn't have a bankai back then.
Nah rasengan gives me chills its as much as a Kamehameha to me But also the only bankai I realy like felt hype for were ichigo , rukias brother,Yamamoto the rest dont give me that dopamine rush
@@ShigiAnime reality marble comes from the fate series and it’s the reason domain expansion exists. Gege did mention it but of course people over look it.
2:37 The value of Domain Expansion didn’t drop and it wasn’t really spammed. An actual point would be that they were over valued, which seemed to be the path you were on pointing out how much stronger they made a character. In Bleach many Bankai don’t even give a stat boost or they a last resort as they can be dangerous for the user and allies. You could have made a much better comparison here.

One of the things Bleach has over other shows like One Piece, Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen's power systems is the zanpakuto's are a reflection of the character. One piece, the devil fruits don't intrinsically mean anything, two completely different people can eat the same fruit and use it in more or less the same manner. Haki is a measure of someone's strength of will, at least to my knowledge there isn't anything that is exactly innate to only certain people. Naruto, jutsus are more just tools, which ones are learned change character but can in theory be learned by anyone. The exception being kekkei genkai but those aren't exactly too particular either as the Uchiha clan shares the sharingan, Hyuga shares the byakugan, the closest a jutsu is to one person only I know of is wood style though it was something Yamato was made to replicate and I believe Madara used and in some theories I've heard it should be usable even without Hashirama's cells. JJK, at least with some of the cursed techniques, they are hereditary though others are more widespread. Limitless, blood manipulation and ten shadows I'm aware of is hereditary more often than not. Cursed speech I think is in a category of being a bit more common in unrelated sorcerors. The domain expansions are sometimes a reflection of a character or just an amplified version of the existing power. Infinite void I would expect more befits a bookwork style of character in place of Gojo, as well his personality likely stems more from his powers than vice versa. Sukuna, Yuta, Jogo, Mahito and Dagon's domain expansions are all directly amplified versions of their base cursed technique Hakari, Takaba and Higuruma's techniques and expansions are based on what they did before getting the powers. Bleach however, the character can be shown through the shikai and bankai. Ikkaku's shikai is a spear with a shaft that can split to three sections, the zanpakuto has a healing salve to help reduce bleeding as well. His bankai is three massive blades connected in the same manner, getting stronger as the fight goes on. Gin's shikai allows his zanpakuto to extend and retract allowing him to play with his range. Bankai speeds it up and allows it to go further though the important part is hidden, being the dust from it shifting being a ridiculous poison. Ikkaku enjoys the fight and wants to stay in longer leading to a more linear evolution while Gin's story is all about duplicity, hiding his intent hence adding a hidden nature to his zanpakuto. In Bleach, if the character's personality was different it would demand a different evolution while the same powers can be used by different characters in the other shows.
Great take, Bleach's power system stands out because each Zanpakuto is uniquely personal - it's literally a reflection of who that character is at their core. Unlike powers in other anime that can be learned or shared (like Devil Fruits or jutsu), a Zanpakuto grows and evolves with its wielder. Take Gin's deceptive blade hiding deadly poison, or Ikkaku's weapons that get stronger the longer he fights - these abilities directly mirror their personalities and fighting styles.
Naruto, Luffy and Goku: punching and kicking things for years Ichigo: going to the spa, eating gourmet food, getting a new fit tailored My man is all about his self care.
Even everyone has Bankai in the bleach universe like the Quincy and Arrancar. Every arrancars’ resurrection is very similar to a bankai where the hollow try to go back to their true nature. Even Quincy vollstanding boosted their abilities by a lot and reach to their final form to fight.
Vollständig actually dosnt boost their physical stats for most only their Schrift. It also allows usage of Sklaverei which boosts reitsu by absorbing it from surrounding. Lastly resurrection is only shikai for arrancar ironically. Shown by ulquorras sekunda etapa
jjk is worse as its always meant to be a one hit kill it's boring writing, when we seen a bankai for the 1st time it lost its not the be all end all of the fight its just a high point
Domain expansion is just another kamehameha for shonen Manga, Bankai has their own Personality. I love how the filler arc of Zampakuto Rebellion showed how bankai is not just sword power ups. Bankai’s are like the shinigami them selves.
@@theshonenmaster2989 I'll bookmark it, I'm currently working a 9-5 so a nice anime would be good, an ep a day type shi... btw thanks for the prior nice comment i just glanced at it and forgot to say thanks
The cool ones cool because you dont see them so often. For example Toshiro's bankai would be lit if he uses fewer times and if it would be more effective.
Cool ones get rarely shown coz that's the fricking point, yama, shinji, kyoraku, unohana, urahara cannot just use it whenever they want so the moment they use it, is special, plus how a person achieves it is also cool to see like how Kenny achieves it after fighting unohana or ichigo does after knowing about himself
Well... Hear me out... Tokyo ghoul's power system is the best (Manga version) There is nothing as "over powered" whoever eats, gets strong and the stronger you get,the crazier you get And everything has an explanation too Even the main character has nearly died atleast 8 times, not to mention that one of the initial endings (fake ending to make the readers surprised with a sudden new volume) was the main character... Literally dying... (Kind of... He was... Alive... Just barely) Also the main character can only heal by well... Killing atleast a human and eating them alive... So every heal is a sacrifice and most of the times,it's one of the friends that gets eaten just for the main character to breathe... And it's not only hurtful for the protagonist but also the reader, each death and each decision has consequences, either immediate or after like 2 volumes, but the protagonist is always punished for a wrong move
Yo, you're onto something with the whole 'eat friends to live' system. But they don't have a the simple word in tokyo ghoul. Nobody knows the name of the power up so Bleach gaps it.
@ShigiAnime well that's true, even after over 7 years, tokyo ghoul still remains at the top of my favourite manga's list and I just can't describe in words the beauty of that manga if you truly understand it,and I have watched bleach too,and don't get me wrong bleach is one of the best shows that I have watched and yes... I do also scream bankai randomly in bathroom randomly.... Please don't judge 🥹 Oh also it has a name in the show... They call it cannibalism... Like yeah... There's a fucking line that goes "Cannibalism is the key to getting stronger"
@@NituSingh-cx5zu don't we all scream random bankai's in the shower or in our room. I don't judge Yeah cannibalism, who doesn't like cannibalism!!!! wohooooo Its good, I read and watched the whole TG verse but never actually thought about the power system since i was more focused on the story itself , and since that anime does things differently I respected other aspects more than that itself
Brilliant!

Yeah…… Expecting Anime video “essayists” to try and put actual good arguments into their videos is something of a joke at this point lmao

Spam it until you master it
this might be your best video. The point about bankai being tied to their identity really made me think
Appreciate it Jman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It goes deeper than you think.
A zanpaktou is a physical representation of "the three faces" that people have.

@@carljohan9265 great analysis
@ I didnt know that, if you commented this normally id pin it bro…
@ i cant pin it
Part of it is that bankai is basically a thing from the very start and was respected as the pinnacle ability, for the most part.
Yama just straight up "WHOOSH" and said nothing
I mean, he didn't overdeliver but he said it at one point no ?
HE DID MADAFAKAS WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, YAMA SAID ITTTTTTTTTT
Bankai is something special and rarely seen, the Bleach fillers made it seem like everyone's doing bankai all the time, but it is mostly Hitsugaya, Ichigo and Byakuya who use it a bit more.
Nah brooo, i didnt watch the fillers, only main story, thats why my opinion is as is. Thanks for telling me that, I didnt know people watched all the fillers 😅

nen abilities are the only other thing that works like this to me
where you are super curious about the abilities and how they build upon the initial characters
Call it what you want, some characters bankai reveal has more hype behind it than entire animes lol
I look at it with the perspective of, oh its that time. And then he tension starts building up. In naruto the tension wad building up until naruto saw sasukr
I won't say it's the best power system but i would call it the most hype power system.
Aight fair point, but that just means domain expansions are boiled down versions of bankai ?
Bankai is not about dominating your inner self. You can't dominate a part of you and expect results. The essence of bankai is about knowing and accepting all of every part of you. Something that takes centuries for soul reapers. That's why they can evolve over time.
@ True bankai or Shukai which one you think is the final final release
5:21 that potential is wasted when we have so few characters actually communicating with their Zanpakuto.

Kubo made Bankai such that when it's Activated, it's either a win or a loss for the Person using it, ...While Other's miss that nuance,
...Gear 5 work as a definitive power up for Win, but becomes a narrative joke by the end.
..Naruto's power up work consistently but has little to no effect on Battle, Unless he knows a New jutsu, so...Naruto's system is all about Ninja Techniques rather than buff in power, Hence ultimately has little to no intimate Narrative development for MC or anyone.
People who say "You r overanalysing it, it's not that Deep", ...Clearly haven't red Bleach well, or
just don't want to love what the Story iS, cuz they hate it for being way way better than to serie, which they wanted to claim to be better than Bleach, but since they have red it now, they feel Emotionally Constipated.
@siru8137 Well that's totally your preference then,
Fact is... BLEACH's power up is a Totally PEAK, ...Nothing comes close in equivalent impact, who knows about future, but I doubt anything can beat it.
btw who needs to remember, Bankais lol.. _Haki & Just plain dojutsu were nice Initially in the serie, but now they go overboard and it's messing up their power system._
...Simple? ... not to offend u, but now Those "Simple" = "Foolish"
Dojutsu totally lack the excitement it used to have back then, ...Haki is such wasted potential.
That's Why as of recently i having red bleach, i have been saying, _"BLEACH is best & intimately cohesive Work of Fiction from it's generation"_
Everything, literally from the Names till the Lore of Existence itself is closely linked, and as for those who complain of World Building in Bleach, ..I'll like to say "You utter Fools, are u buddies freakin out of mind? Or got Trash built up in that head?"
Bleach's World Building is very different from One Piece, Yes! , but it's an Extremely Ignorant statement to call it's lacking in World Building, ..to the point that it feels Boderline Insane to even think.
Bleach's World Buliding is as good, if not better than even OP, ...Just look at Buddhist tradition, You'll basically get a crash course on Bleach Universe Building.
It's Just that Kubo's approch is very different from Oda's, ...While oda explicitly prides himself and shows off his world "in a Bird view"
Kubo explores Bleach-verse with Hints, while explicitly showing the world scapes.
@ska4666 most the time the bankai just wins them the matches as in with naruto they would still use other moves other just like dojutsu based or tailed beast based abilities to actually win said fight other then like the higher up quincys in bleach and naruto not only being based of the tailed beast and dojutsus
And plus I do care about remembering the bankais because if you're gonna go in blind and see a character used a bankai you wouldn't really know what's happening you're just using the enemy lose
You are just so blatantly incorrect it's baffling.
This 10 minute video can be summed up in two simplistic points:
Bankai are tied to a character's identity;
Bankai are often mysterious.
I'd like to hear more about it so please make a video, I'll do a reaction to it. lets start beef so I can prove all my points
I love the dojutsu in Naruto though how that sound like rubbing iron just comes when its activated
Wait what
The thing about bankai too is that it is rare and hard to attain, 95% of soul reapers can't even get shikai much less bankai
and nobody has shukai either so its giga rare to get the best power up
Bankai is the next best thing after turning to a Super Saiyan. This is why I love bleach
hmmmmmmmmmmm sus guy sus guy
I think one thing that no one ever talks about with powers is how they relate to the person no one really hates themselves I've only seen bleach actually handle this whole idea
the pinned comment is interesting, a viewer shared how it apparently works (it was in the filler episodes nobody watched) But yeah it's literally a reflection of who that character is at their core. Unlike powers in other anime that can be learned or shared (like Devil Fruits or jutsu), a Zanpakuto grows and evolves with its wielder.
Delulu. The best I can say about bleach's power ups is that its top 3 in the big 3 for sure, not top 2 tho unfortunately.
No facts provided so case closed. The jury decided bleach gaps
@ShigiAnime gaps indeed (to the bottom)
Super Saiyan and nen are laughing at the corner
one is just screaming aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh, the other one is just an inner chakra thing. I wont lie gon has a lame power, the power up he gained was nice but the length of the hair is kinda overcooked. the power itself was edgy but the hairstyle was not
@@ShigiAnime Ngl u got a lot of L takes. But this one a dub
Nen ? ...hell naw,... it's sold on just cuz of the Animation,
the Power up by itself is nothing, ...only the actions following the power up, is what people care about.
Super saiyan worked the very first time when Goku transformed for the 1st time against Frieza on planet namek....
2nd time it worked when goku turn ss god... & 3rd is when he got ultra-insticts
Rest of the time it was all "just Fine"
While we r here talking about the literal word "Ban..kai" and it's power up impact on the serie and Narrative as a whole, ..Bankai didn't just win you war of 'Aura' every freakin time that word was uttered, but literally gave you Narrative Advantage, if you read the story carefully... and translate it properly.
The aura of that word is evident in the fact that when BLEACH anime and even it's characters were obscured to oblivion 4-5 yrs back ....BAN KAI was the word carrying the AuRA chariot of itself..
That's how significant it is..
Shout anything ... nothing
Shout nen ! ...no one
Shout Super Saiyan! ...yeh few

while allot of characters in Naruto share abilities every Bleach character is unique even Kido some characters use a kido others can't even cero some Hollows have unique ones also Quincies being completely different to each others this is why i love Bleach powers more than powers in Naruto
yup yup yuppp, it's literally a reflection of who that character is at their core, idk if it limits their kido but characters have the freedom to make their own kido if they're capable enough
7:10 Toshiro also spams it all the time.
I totally forgot about him since its not so cool imo

@@ShigiAnime hell yeah
@@kurasakikenji Madafaka id like to be like zed from lol or even ekko to turn back time 5 seconds back that would be more epic no???????
A moment of silence for Sajin and ikkaku..
I love Bankai but Super Saiyan will always be my favorite.
Its an og i cant be mad if you like it
Naruto hand signs to me just slap and screaming out the jutsu name

How did sharingan not give you chills? Seeing Itachis Susanoo for the first time...oh my. Love the video tho
Sharingan was always cool but it got less interesting after the Sasuke and Itachi fight
Sharingan was quite a cool powerup as it also shows the deep state and irony of the Uchiha clan but everyone knows how effective sharingan is after like Itachi fight, amaterasu is mostly easily dealt with and tsukiyomi is not even used after Itachi arc
@@ether2275 Now that you mention it
@@ShigiAnime Yeah, Itachi was cool because at the time the powers of the Sharingan were still a mystery to us. But after the fight with Itachi we basically got a good idea of what the Sharingan could do if awakened.
The fact that even aizen himself doesnt have bankai the rarity of having a bankaj is insanely unique.☝
They say bleach doesnt have a writing? Bro the idea of zanpakuto, shikai and bankai is already a writing cuz its unique to every user identity - character in the story.
Nah, but once they get a shukai if kubo decides to do a hell arc, is a step further. Nobody has a shukai which is above bankai (might be called the ultimate bankai) but I'm note too sure. And out boy aizen just needs a magic ball

Did he just say jjk spammed domain expansion? 😭😭
Bleach literally has many bankai users, and there are spammers.
It's so hypocritical. 😭😭
Lol domains became a chokehold for gege. Needed to invent like 3 different counters for it just to make fights interesting because he made them too busted. Then he invents rct for the brain to keep them in play to make writing even harder lol
The translation od bankai is the final release shich should be the last resort, but some have a stat boost like ichigo who uses his in that way thats why he spams it, but i appreciate your feedback but also please read jadels comment
He got lost in the sauce as i said, in the manga i had to skip the explanations since he was writing more explanations than what a power does..
You gotta add Ichigo true bankai
Nah, I'm letting all the op and naruto fans cry tears out , I didn't even mention hollows in the vid bro... I'm going lightweight on them
One of the things Bleach has over other shows like One Piece, Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen's power systems is the zanpakuto's are a reflection of the character.
Sukuna, Yuta, Jogo, Mahito and Dagon's domain expansions are all directly amplified versions of their base cursed technique
Hakari, Takaba and Higuruma's techniques and expansions are based on what they did before getting the powers.

Well... Hear me out...
Tokyo ghoul's power system is the best
(Manga version)
There is nothing as "over powered" whoever eats, gets strong and the stronger you get,the crazier you get
And everything has an explanation too
Even the main character has nearly died atleast 8 times, not to mention that one of the initial endings (fake ending to make the readers surprised with a sudden new volume) was the main character... Literally dying... (Kind of... He was... Alive... Just barely)
Also the main character can only heal by well...
Please don't judge 🥹
Oh also it has a name in the show... They call it cannibalism... Like yeah... There's a fucking line that goes "Cannibalism is the key to getting stronger"
