Something that always stuck with me about this arc, is what it showed us about Byakuya specifically. Tsukishima inserts himself into his backstory, but unlike with Chad, Orihime or anyone else, Byakuya responds with "I know I owe you my life and all these other things besides, and I'm sorry for what is about to happen to you, but it does not matter. You are an enemy to Ichigo Kurosachi, and that is all I need to know.'' After Ichigo saves his sister from himself, Byakuya puts so much faith inside Ichigo that it doesn't matter who or what you are to him, he takes Ichigo's word for it every time.
The difference between byakuya and the others is that he is also a soldier. He was even willing to kill his own sister. So it shouldnt come as a surprise that he wouldnt hesitate to kill tsukishima.
@stryperwolf1723 Keep in mind him agreeing to kill his sister was less because of his duty as a soldier, and more because he swore on his parents' grave not to break any more rules. without that promise there's no shot he'd have accepted her death. He's this thankful to Ichigo for being his loophole, a way to fulfill both his promise to his parents and the vow he made to his wife.
The anime cut out the entire chapter that gives the fullbringers backstories. (chapter 471). Also its kinda fitting that Tsukushima is the only fullbringer that gets no backstory since his power is to insert himself into others pasts and yet he himself has no past.
I just went to read it for a refresher and yeah, they barely skimmed it. Someone else mentioned but other than Riruka none of them get much spolight in that regard. And that detail about Tsukishima perfectly goes along with his personality and actions. His send off is the most unceremonious.
tsukishimas backstory is that he was on orphan saved by ginjo. that was all and sufficient - tragic orphan, maybe someone murdered his parents. elaboration is not needed
When i watched it for the first time i too felt this is not good but when i re-watched bleach i truely understood what this arc was about and why it is important. One of the best arc written by Uncle Tsukishima.
I never hated the fullbring arc, I loved it, as a kid. I knew the story wasn’t over yet, and something had to happen. When the fullbringers appeared, I was like “This is it, he’s returned”, and when he actually got his powers back, I was so damned hype. This arc doesn’t deserve the hate it gets.
I enjoyed every single arc. It's always about the journey, and boy, bleach made my journey worth it. It really pays to watch bleach in it's entirety once you watch it all.
Simply put, Shinigamis in Soul Society be like : "Ichigo is a monster we need to have in our side, therefore we'll break our rules for once. Consider this a luxury." 💀☠️
I can only imagine Kiske’s pitch: Kiske: Ichigo practically cut off his own arm to save us, Captain Yamamoto. Would it be fair if we didn’t do anything to return the favor? Yamamoto: … Soi Fon: Seriously, Urahara?! Kiske: 😏
Repaying the Debt they had to Ichigo just to still praise him as a War Hero the next arc over when they NEED his help lol. I bet those who disagreed felt stupid by the time Yuha Bach came back to Soul Society
@@TheBlackShinigami They better be. Even Ichibei himself said that Ichigo was qualified to be the new vessel for Soul King. That says a lot about the hybrid monstrosity that is Ichigo Kurosaki 😂🤣
One note here about Ginjo's backstory, since Tsukushima's abilities mostly "replaces" a person in ones memories. The backstory that there was someone in the past that killed his fullbringer friends are true. And you can find out who is that in Can't fear your own world.
@@resurgingflame But then it is true that Tsukushima replaces people on ones memory and the Basically the "tsukushima killed Ginjo's fullbringer friends" is something from the manga. So even in the manga their is an actual somebody who killed his full bringer friends in past. Also the anime thus far made inclusions to TYBW that is inline with what had been shown in CFYOW. Yeah like what do you expect to not notice the obvious, when you see Shinji's Bankai and hey that is similar to how CFYOW depicted it etc. etc. Like what you expect reviewers and average reader/watcher to not mention the novels when analyzing the content when literally this additions are literally taken out from the novels??? Or what the new cryptic additions they add in the TYBW anime can be explained through what has been said in novels. Like even if you insist the novel to be not canon. All the ideas that Kubo pitched in that novel is technically canon to Bleach. And those very same ideas that Kubo told the novel writer are being intergrated in the current anime somehow.
@@Snzn_7 I literally said "ISN'T ENTIRELY", meaning there's part of that who Kubo took & made it canon. But my point still stands, just bcus some of that are canon now, doesn't automatically makes the ENTIRE novels canon. Until Kubo himself canonize those parts, then the audiences can't claim those as canon bcus u don't own nor write Bleach. If u just comprehend properly a little bit, that'd save all those unnecessary paragraphs.
It's also worth mentioning his Hollow half and Shinigami halves are now permanently fused. It's why he doesn't need his Hollow mask to use that part of his power. It's thanks to the debt of gratitude that we get this powered up version of his incomplete Shikai and Bankai
See, this is one of those things i was really unclear on. It makes perfect sense though. He's WAY too strong after that power up. I was trying to make sense of it in the back of my mind while i was working on the vid.
@RecoveringElitist It was due to his Fullbringer training. When Ichigo lost his Shinigami powers, his Hollow powers kind of went into sleep mode. Fullbringer abilities are Hollow in origin. By undergoing and perfecting his Fullbringer, he learned how to draw out that power. After Rukai stabbed him with the blade that restored his Shinigami powers, those powers and his Hollow powers fused permanently
@Caelus32 fullbringer powers are not hollow in origin. They were retconned in cant fear your own world. They are humans touched by a part of the soul king.
@SuperAmazinglover If I was talking about literally any other Fullbringer, you'd have a point. But I'm talking about Ichigo. His Fullbringer is powered by his Hollow powers. Still, while those pieces of the Soul King may be the origin point of Fullbringer, they still require a spark to activate and I wish they took that into consideration. Hollow attacks and spiritual residue would have been the best spark for it. Besides, most people don't accept the CFYOW light novels as canon so I used the manga in my explanation
I started watching bleach relatively recently (caught up right before the blood war came out) and absolutely adored the fullbringer arc and wondered why people didnt like it, until i realized that i had the privilege of binge watching it. I can totally see the complaints if you watching weekly or too young to really grasp the nuance of the arc
This is the best counter argument to people thinking that Ichigo's true bankai is a high- concept base powers, thinking that it has some fate altering shenanigan powes.
@@Snzn_7I don't think people even concretely say that's his power it's just speculation especially withe the stuff in the manga but we'll see in the animated version soon enough
@@Snzn_7 Yeah Ichigo's true bankai doesn't have a special diegetic power to alter fate. It's named for the fact that that's what it allowed him to do. Shattering fate isn't its literal power it's a consequence of defeating Yhwach, who embodies fate.
this arc was a roller coaster of emotions. amazing video and thanks for helping me better comprehend this arc! you should def do more bleach arc videos
Mission accomplished! Lol thanks, i really appreciate it. I think i want to put a lot more thought into the next Bleach vid. I've also been notified of my need to go read CFYOW so i gotta get on that 😅
I won’t lie when I read this in the manga. I really thought this was the weakest arc even weaker than the substitute soul reaper arc but after binge watching it last year with my girlfriend to get her caught up this is literally one of the fourth best arcs in the series
@@youmeltube Is there not 6? Agent of the Shinigami, Soul Society, Heuco Mundo, The Past, Lost Substitute Shinigami, and TYBW Arc? What I think the commenter thinks is that Heuco Mundo and Fake Karakura Town Arc are seperate. Still, it's definitely top 3-4 imo.
@@Közi1992 "The Past" (aka Turn Back The Pendulum) is just a segment within the Arrancar arc. Volume 48 ends with giant text reading "END OF ARRANCAR ARC" meaning its the same arc from 22 to then
And then you learn the Squad Zero and others were contemplating using Ichigo to replace the Soul king if it ever came down to it... Restoring his power wasn't altruistic.
squad zero had nothing to do with giving ichigo his powers back. if ichibe wanted to restore ichigo's powers, he could have with a single stroke of his brush. on top of that, ichigo doesn't need his powers to be a battery. it was 100% altruistic.
Oh yeah you're right! It's been too long, i really should revisit the YYH manga... 🤔 Kubo did mention how much it influenced Bleach now that i think about it.
Thank you so much for making this breakdown cause it helps to explain a subtle shift in Ichigo’s character that I noticed in the newer episodes of the Blood War Arc, particularly the episode with the Fullbringer’s appearance. In the elevator scene, Ichigo genuinely thanks and is appreciative of the FullBringer’s support, which I immediately clocked as different because he is usually dismissive of the support of others. I feel that this demonstrates what you talked about in the video, that the events in this arc, particularly losing the ability to protect others and having to accept support to do so, really impacted him.
Yeah that elevator scene in the recent arc was fantastic. His attirude towards everyone is different now and everyone else treats him just a bit more fondly as well 👏🏿👏🏿
Thank you! 🙏🏿 I actually found myself sympathizing a huge deal with both Ginjo and Tsukishima in the end despite everything that they did. Ginjo could have been Ichigo's older brother figure to guide him through all his issues growing up 💔
@@sheevs_student Unless the anime blatantly de-canonizes CFYOW, it is canon. Y’all don’t want to repeat what happened when y'all claimed Movie 1 wasn’t canon, only to be proven wrong by the ani-manga. (By y’all, I mean canon deniers in general.) Even if, for some reason, it wasn’t fully canon, the plot points that Kubo himself gave to the writer would still be canon, along with the lore. Kubo mentioned that he answered the writer’s questions whenever asked. This means that the lore dumps, as well as things like Ginjo’s backstory and Tokinada, would still be canon. Similar to how the events of Peacemaker Season 1 are canon to S2, even if the story itself isn’t.
Hugely! I couldn't believe how captivated i was right from the jump despite knowing everything that was about to happen. Kubo really cooked with this one. 🔥🔥🔥
Riruka is boring???? Imagine saying that about Best Girl! You're right about the rest tho. Tsukishima's ability has always felt traumatising to me, like, how could anyone not go mad from having their loved ones turn against them all of a sudden. Many people would crash out just like Ichigo did, or worse. My favorite scene of the arc is definitely Rukia stabbing Ichigo with the Reishi sword, where upon getting stabbed you see him look at his dad and Urahara in absolute despair thinking they've also been turned against him only for his dad to call him an idiot and tell him to look at who's holding the sword, and then there she is, Rukia in all her short haired glory in a glorious callback to the beginning of the story.
Riruka was definitely my favorite lol, i actually enjoyed when she was on screen and i wish she were around more even. 😅 That Rukia scene was perfect in almost every way. They way Kubo keeps your head spinning even after the Ginjo reveal was fantastic 👌🏿
The worst part about Tsukishima was how much he obviously enjoyed what he was doing. He also always felt like the most vile Bleach antagonist because of how personal his crimes were. I once heard Takahata101, from Team Four Star, say that the difference between Frieza and Cell was the difference between a dictator and a serial killer. That’s what it felt like going from Aizen with his grandiose plans and larger than life goals, to Tsukishima, who was apparently messing with Ichigo’s head for the funnies.
you took the words right out of my mouth. after so many years of Bleach slander this feels unreal. I'm a little too overwhelmed to say anything else right now other than Thank you!!!
I dont get why people get mad every time a series slows down and tries to build something up, it happened to Bleach back in the day, happened to CSM recently, the short attention spans just doing literature dirty.
Coming back to it now made me realize how much I've grown since those days. I was definitely struggling to get through this part of the manga week by week.
@RecoveringElitist yeah I get that it can get hard when the story has a slower pace and you only get like 20 pages a week, but people screaming that it's bad immediately is just absurd, especially when they will switch to calling it rushed right after. I personally really like the way Bleach slows after it's big arc conclusion, you feel empty going back to school after all that, just like Ichigo, you as the reader literally go through all the emotions of the protagonist, like wow I just saved the world, for what, for this? And it ties amazingly into Ichigo's desperate attempt to get back out there, which leaves him blindsided. In my opinion it would have been a mistake to just move on to another big bad like Yhwach right away, plus Ichigo losing his powers wouldn't have any meaning without this arc. Also the Fullbring powers needed some cleaning up since they seem like a scrapped idea from an early draft of the story (like remember Inoue having little fairies, what the hell was that).
@@saawysorenson4585the biggest common denominator when it comes to this is how most manga readers often partake on social media discussions about the manga weekly as each chapter is released. If people doing those ecentually gets stuck into exepecting the current chapter to "have everything, be as hype as possible" so they can have a big uptick in their social media discussion on this. Like people nowadays falls a lot to , if it ain't hype it won't trend kind of mindset. Eith that kind of midset this is where you can find the baddest takes ever when a chapter does not give them hype. In my case I just remove myself from those weekly discussion and stuck to reading things in a volume to volume basis or read them in chunks inonthly basis.
At 01:25, you said that the story felt disconnected and aimless. I’m pretty sure that was on purpose. Kubo was making Ichigo’s civvie life feel as uncomfortable as possible for us, because that’s what their lives were for Ichigo and the rest. Ichigo himself was disconnected from the world and adrift, and everyone else couldn’t do anything about it, they were only able to try and ease his fears by doing what they could to keep everything under control.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen OG bleach & esp the full bring arc that I needed this tbh! Even tho the full bring arc wasn’t my favorite in the beginning, it came around and became a solid arc that mattered in the end! This was a great video to remind peeps that it was indeed a fun and important arc of bleach! Thanks for putting this much work into the Fullbring arc! And I absolutely cannot wait to see what non Shonen title you’re working on 👀👀
Bleach really meant a lot to me growing up, and I'm grateful that i get an opportunity to sing its praises for a bit. Even more that other people enjoy hearing me yap about it! 😂😂😂 I'm even more pumped to get to work on this next video now! >:)
It's been cool seeing new viewers reacting to the series for the first time. You guys are having such a different experience than a lot of us had watching and reading week to week. A lot of yall picked up right away on things that took lots of us years to figure out.
I will say this, you guys are lucky the anime industry has largely stepped away from how things were done back in OG Bleach. Endless filler arc hell that we had to go through with Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece; as well as the anime original endings that Soul Eater and Blue Exorcist did were awful. I didn’t even know that BE had been continued, and I’m not sure if I want to catch up, after that ridiculous season 1 ending. Although, one downside of not having too many fillers is that every time the story slows down to flesh out the world, we have a ton of children crying about fillers, as if they know what fillers actually were. The fact that they make me sound like my grandpa griping about “kids these days” annoys me even more. I’m only 31, dangit!
I love the Fullbring arc, but its pacing is a bit wack, since it starts off real slow and then towards the end it becomes really fast. Apparently there was pressure on Kubo to do the climax quicker because of declining sales during the first part of the arc. But I think its story is really good. One notable scene in the manga that was missing from the anime version is when Ichigo first activates his Fullbring. When remembering his proudest moments as a shinigami, the biggest and proudest moment was his farewell to Rukia.
What a fantastic watch! ❤ Really cool to see people hyping up the fullbring arc as it's one of my favourites (yes, the soundtrack is a big part of why for me) Loved the pacing of this video, and adding in your thoughts along with the story. Overall it's a great watch, well done! ~ Gedreor
Well put together. Thanks for the trip down memory lane of this arc. I liked it because it represented Ichicgo’s power restored, but you showed me more that I overlooked.
This was a great video explanation and analysis. I never did watch the whole fullbringer arc and now I wish I did but regardless, this helped answer some questions I've always had.
the switch from your average shonen to a psycolocical horror is one hell of a whiplash but its amazing we get to see ichigo broken to the point that for the first time ichigo truly debate just killing someone and not a hollow or arrancar he wants to kill another human up to this point he had only killed ulquorra and that was an accident
As much as i clown him, his is one of the most terrifying powers in the entire Bleach-verse. The longer you think abt it and its implications, the worse it gets.
My favorite moment is when Ginjo THINKS he's seen what a Getsuga Tenshou is. And Ichigo is like "No. That was just a normal strike. THIS IS A GETSUGA TENSHOU!" AND PROCEEDS TO CUT A HOUSE IN HALF AND PART THE SKY! AND HE MISSED ON PURPOSE TO PROVE A POINT!
This is your longest video and lucky me this was my first time here. Thanks for your work scripting and editing this I really enjoyed it. I too thought this was a boring arc back when it was serialized although the 2nd half of TYBW was way more boring than this in my opinion. Although slow, the Fullbringer Arc is an inflection point for Ichigo, it develops him so much as an individual.
Thank you!! 🙏🏿 Glad to have you lol. 😁 Amd the slower psce is honestly something I'd appreciate more of tbh. I really liked how the change in pace is basically explained by everyone slowly transitioning into adulthood. Made things a different kind of weighty.
This was a great videos you explain everything well and clear and its clear the you put in a lot of effort. The length of this video was actually great i was hooked the hole time and it really helped me understand the Fullbring ark a lot better.
such a goated video when i watched this arc I genuinely didnt understand the hate it had. It seemed like such a good finishing-arc & if TYBW didnt happen I would still be satisfied with where it ended, sure there would be unfinished plot points but it felt like a solid end to the series
Thank you, that really means a lot! 🙏🏿 Looking back, my dissatisfaction came from wanting the story to go in a direction I personally wanted. I got so frustrated by what it wasn't that i couldn't see it for what it is.
What a great analysis, I appreaciate the fact that you pointed out Ichigo's fullbring powers weren't totally lost since Ginjo only stole the uncomplete form and now Ichigo has all 4 forms of being which then is used in TYBW (; Kubo's such a subtle writer that half the people who have read or watched seriously doesn't understand his magnum opus. Earned a sub my friend.
I appre iate you! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 Narrative is my passion and Bleached really helped to solidify that for me. I'm still constantly making new realizations whenever i dive back into it.
"Can't fear your own World" completely elevated the Fullbring arc for me. Also, it makes people who were villains in the series completely sympathetic.
@@RecoveringElitist **Spoilerish** It completely made me feel like the villains weren't villains and the heroes were maybe villains without knowing it. Sigh, Kaname.
One of my favorite moments in the whole series is in the Fullbring arc. When Ichigo swings his sword and the spiritual pressure is almost too much for Ginjo to handle and he goes off about how Ichigo's Getsuga isn't strong enough to defeat him. Then Ichigo just looks at him with this bored expression and says, "That wasn't Getsuga Tensho. That was a practice swing."
My favorite part was immediately after that, when Ichigo let that Getsuga fly like an artillery shell, obliterating two-thirds of the mansion, and said the coldest line I’ve heard from him. All of which caused Ginjo to realize that he suddenly needed to be anywhere but Karakura Town.
I’ve seen a few of these positive Fullbring Arc videos hit my suggestions more often lately, and I’m glad to see that there are people that are ultimately fond of it. I liked it when I first read/watched it. There was tension, uncertainty, and despair until the resolution. Loved Byakyuya’s fight with Tsukishima, but I loved how Zaraki HIMpachi did quick work.
I really hated how for a while people were just hating on this arc despite the fact that it's one of the best arcs in the entirety of Bleach, and the best arc when it comes to Ichigo's MC growth. It tested Ichigo, and tested him for real. The fact that people compared this arc to bount arc was infuriating.
As a young shonen fanboy i don't think I was ready for such layered and complex storytelling (despite the fact that I'd swear that I was at the time lmao 🙄).
I watched Bleach for the first time recently and this was by far my favorite arc. And yet at the same time I could already tell after 3 or so episodes that it would be a very controversial one in the community :D
The funny thing is, I think Ichigo would have allied with Ginjo against Soul Society if Ginjo had been upfront with Ichigo about his identity as a former substitute and the true nature of the combat pass. Especially if he told Ichigo everything right after saving his sister from that Hollow.
So happy to see a lot of people starting to realize how good the Fullbring arc actually is! Also about Ginjo, I see him as a dark/evil version of what Ichigo could've become if the Soul Society betrayed him. The novels reveal how deeply the Soul Society actually wronged Ginjo, taking everything from him including his loved ones. Of course he'd crash out and be an empty person after that. (Kubo helped write the novels btw) Hoping season 4 of TYBW touches on that aspect of his character 🙏
You forgot to mention that Ichigo already had a hunch about the "badge" was a fake already. He noticed how useless it was at the job and realised that it wasn't legit besides the fact it allowed him to jump out of his body without using Kon.
The only thing that doesn't quite satisfy me about this arc is that Ichigo gets no apology from his friends. Like sure BotE just vanished without a trace but damn.
I think ichigo understood they have that weird pride thing. No need in humiliating them into a verbal apology. And them helping to restore his power meant everything. Heck, even Kenpachi loves Ichigo. That’s saying alot.
they didn't remember what happened when under his BOTE, its explained that all traces of his power disappears after his death and i'm pretty sure that there was a line about them not remembering what happened.
I saw some reactors say that they’d be looking at everyone some type of way after all that, especially Chad and Orihime. They were really saying that after Byakuya got cut and didn’t let it bother him. Byakuya cut down his benefactor because Ichigo, his former op, was Tsukishima’s enemy. But nobody remembered anything, and holding on to all that really doesn’t help anything.
The fullbring ability reminds me of plato's world of forms or whatever it was called. The idea is that objects are a projection from their form in some other dimension where they're something more.
Fullbringer arc was always great to me, some people just didnt have the reading comprehension to look past the lack of big explosion shonen battle moments
The “Bount” arc, the “Noble Family” arc, and the “Zanpakuto Rebellion” arc (but ESPECIALLY the Bount arc) are FANTASTIC. Better than most real anime. The Bount arc in particular is CRUCIAL for Ishida’s character development. But of course, some people will b*tch and moan about anything. Just like with this arc.
I especially enjoyed the Noble Family arc. Chu Bura is still one of opening tracks to this day and all the new character interactions were fantastic! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
My favorite is the Zanpakto Rebellion. I mainly like it because it makes use of how the zanpakto power system is the perfect way to show off characters and how they interact with themselves. Kubo really missed out on using his power system to its fullest potential.
This really is an arc that hits harder the further away you are from the target audience age. As a teen, it might not hit you as hard, but when you're an adult? You see Ichigo being put through what is frankly some Berserk level emotional trauma? Yeah, this arc just hit different. I was one of the outliers that already liked it, yeah? But after rewatching the show years later... It's really something else, man.
I gave Bleach a shot when it aired and it didn't hook me, but I sat down and watched it all a few years ago and as an anime-only person it surprised me to find out that this arc isn't filler. Not because it's bad, but because of how ~good~ it is. I understand how the frustrations of watching the anime filler arcs weekly would totally sour the experience, especially as they almost all aired in the middle of ongoing stories, but being able to binge them makes it clear that the character building in all of the filler arcs is as strong as the developments in the main story. Bleach's biggest strength is its cast and the filler arcs lean into that hard, which is why I thought this arc was filler for a long time.
I mentioned undersomeone else's comment that i got distracted while editing and watched one of the filler eps (the one where Ikkaku joins the kendo club). It nearly did a better job at reminding me about what i Love about bleach than than the canon content.
Lets not forget that soul society would have known that through isshin, ichigo is of the noble shiba clan heritage, which might grant him different benefits too, benefit of the doubt after the soul society arc for example
I've wondered abt this a lot. The Shiba clan apparently had their nobility stripped but they still apparently carry a decent amount of clout to "bend rules" without serious punishment. I'm more interested than ever in an arc centered around the original Gotei 13
As someone who read the manga relatively late, reading this part got me really interested in the lore and what it does for his growth. This honestly reminds me of the HxH Greed Island arc where it's right between York New City and Chimera Ant, two extremely popular arcs.
I only watched the anime’s version of Fullbring earlier this year, being mostly manga-only for Bleach for the longest time, since a lot of the anime’s direction and changes did not sit well with me. I knew a lot of the complaints about the arc come from people who watched the anime, so I went in expecting a mostly subpar adaptation like I had come to expect from the anime, but it’s still very good (probably the best out of the old anime’s). But I think I get why a lot of people thought it was filler or that it felt empty. It has some honestly painful changes and omissions, like Riruka being the only of the fullbringers to get her full backstory adapted, while others get a summarized version of it at best or just have it completely overlooked (you don’t get to fully understand why Jackie’s fullbring is what it is, and you don’t get much context on Giriko beyond his eye popping - doubt anime onlies would be able to figure out that it was his wife that he was trying to kill and then that he lost his eye when he felt regretful for a moment). It’s a pity, honestly, because the chapter where you get to see the fullbringer’s backstories is one of the best framed in the manga to me. The random Soul Society filler episode snuck in there probably doesn’t help much either (nowadays you can skip it but I imagine watching it as it released weekly was not very enjoyable)
This isn’t even filler, but why I get so annoyed when people mention Bleach “filler.” Hell, some of THE BEST Bleach is “filler.” The episode where the cat that passed away protects Ichigo’s sister who showed him kindness in life still makes me cry. THAT is PEAK BLEACH (and not just “slice of life.” Period.)
While i was editing i got distracted and watched the episode where Ikkaku joins the Kendo club. I haven't had that much fun watching anything in a long time 💀
I sometimes complain about the Big Three era’s penchant for filler hell, but that’s mostly directed towards Naruto. Bleach had some great filler arcs, and One Piece had one or two great filler arcs too. My favorites from each series were the Zanpakto Rebellion Arc (because it provided amazing character building interactions), and the G6 Arc (who doesn’t love Condoriano).
I don't remember where i read this but at first when Urahara was secretly charging the sword with the lieutenant until Nemu spilled the beans to Mayuri who reported him not because it was illegal but out of spite. Which then led to all the captains putting their spiritual pressure too.
To be honest, from when i first watched this arc (and then subsequently read it, yes i watched the anime first before reading the whole manga), i always felt like it was a strikingly different but ultimately good arc. Sure I felt like it was abit draggy in certain spots, even though its already a short arc, but when thinking about it overall, i never really disliked it. I will never forget feeling the same despair that Ichigo was probably feeling when everyone had turned against him because of tsukishima. This anime/manga, and in fact no other manga before this had made me connect with the MC in such a strong way before. It was wonderful. It had so much of the same themes/genres that the soul society arc had, such as mystery, horror (but much more amped up in this arc than in SS), and of course the bread and butter, action. I like the plot twists here too and think its almost comparable to Aizen's twist just because in this arc at least the pieces were laid out for you. As a viewer you got technically the information you needed to see the twist and not have it come out of nowhere.
I'm right there with you in comparing the Ginjo plot twist to Aizen's. It was cool to me how emotionally invested i became even though i already knew what was going to happen. It really was super enthralling
You are an enemy to Ichigo Kurosachi, and that is all I need to know.''
After Ichigo saves his sister from himself, Byakuya puts so much faith inside Ichigo that it doesn't matter who or what you are to him, he takes Ichigo's word for it every time.
Absolutely agree. The relationship between Byakuya and Ichigo is a whole topic unto itself 💯💯
Byakuya “Ride or Die” Kuchiki
Another thing to point out is that Yamamoto sent the exact people that would refuse to kill Ichigo.
I 😅Guess BLEACH fans really do find golds on second try.
It really didn't. It's been really cool seeing how many appreciated it from the beginning though.
Oh they SNEAKY. That's for sure Lmao! 😂
I can only imagine Kiske’s pitch:
Kiske: Ichigo practically cut off his own arm to save us, Captain Yamamoto. Would it be fair if we didn’t do anything to return the favor?
Yamamoto: …
Soi Fon: Seriously, Urahara?!
@@coltonwilliams4153 kiske? Like Ky Kiske?
One note here about Ginjo's backstory, since Tsukushima's abilities mostly "replaces" a person in ones memories.
The backstory that there was someone in the past that killed his fullbringer friends are true.
And you can find out who is that in Can't fear your own world.
CFYOW isn't entirely nor officially canon. Y'all need to stop connecting those light novels to everything until it's fully canonized.
@@resurgingflamejust go on klub outside my guy, it's always been canon

Well that's convenient
Waiting a week just to see ichigo go 1on1 with a giant stuffed pig had me raging 😂

This is the best counter argument to people thinking that Ichigo's true bankai is a high- concept base powers, thinking that it has some fate altering shenanigan powes.
It's why people like using Ichigo as a base for Elden Ring builds
I really thought this was the weakest arc even weaker than the substitute soul reaper arc but after binge watching it last year with my girlfriend to get her caught up this is literally one of the fourth best arcs in the series
i absolutely agree with you completely. i was having a harder time arguing why it SHOULDN'T be in my top 5.
This is extra funny given that the manga officially only has 5 arcs LOL
Lol i started Bleach through the anime and didn't pick up the manga until way later. Sometimes i forget how much filler there actually was.💀

And then you learn the Squad Zero and others were contemplating using Ichigo to replace the Soul king if it ever came down to it...
Restoring his power wasn't altruistic.
squad zero had nothing to do with giving ichigo his powers back.

bleach is truly amazing great video analysis
Thank you! In really glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Thank you so much for making this breakdown cause it helps to explain a subtle shift in Ichigo’s character that I noticed in the newer episodes of the Blood War Arc, particularly the episode with the Fullbringer’s appearance.
His attirude towards everyone is different now and everyone else treats him just a bit more fondly as well 👏🏿👏🏿
Great analysis. CFYOW redeems Ginjo's character a lot, and deep down, he is much more nuanced and sympathetic.
Thank you! 🙏🏿
I actually found myself sympathizing a huge deal with both Ginjo and Tsukishima in the end despite everything that they did. Ginjo could have been Ichigo's older brother figure to guide him through all his issues growing up 💔
cfyow is non canon
Is there a place where we can read the Bleach novels? Preferably by buying them? I’d really love to get my hands on them.
@@sheevs_student Unless the anime blatantly de-canonizes CFYOW, it is canon. Y’all don’t want to repeat what happened when y'all claimed Movie 1 wasn’t canon, only to be proven wrong by the ani-manga. (By y’all, I mean canon deniers in general.)
Even if, for some reason, it wasn’t fully canon, the plot points that Kubo himself gave to the writer would still be canon, along with the lore.
@@Bastolan Movie 1 isn't fully canon. Kubo took bits from it as he has done with some filler but overall it's mostly non canon.

Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Very underrated arc.
That Rukia scene was perfect in almost every way.
I'm the subsciber that got you from 999 yo 1K. I'm glad I can find people who enjoy bleach and not give it the short end of the stick
you took the words right out of my mouth. after so many years of Bleach slander this feels unreal.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen OG bleach & esp the full bring arc that I needed this tbh!

love your breakdown. very insightful, you managed to encapsulate what Kubo's subtle yet impactful story telling
It may be my favorite thing about Bleach's narrative. Figuring out what's happening under the surface is so rewarding 🙏🏿
I agree
I never really felt like it was bad when I did my watch through, though I also got into it more recently, so I didn't have the weekly feel
When remembering his proudest moments as a shinigami, the biggest and proudest moment was his farewell to Rukia.

the switch from your average shonen to a psycolocical horror is one hell of a whiplash but its amazing we get to see ichigo broken to the point that for the first time ichigo truly debate just killing someone and not a hollow or arrancar he wants to kill another human up to this point he had only killed ulquorra and that was an accident

I too thought this was a boring arc back when it was serialized although the 2nd half of TYBW was way more boring than this in my opinion. Although slow, the Fullbringer Arc is an inflection point for Ichigo, it develops him so much as an individual.
Thank you!! 🙏🏿
Glad to have you lol. 😁 Amd the slower psce is honestly something I'd appreciate more of tbh. I really liked how the change in pace is basically explained by everyone slowly transitioning into adulthood. Made things a different kind of weighty.

Thank you, that really means a lot! 🙏🏿
Looking back, my dissatisfaction came from wanting the story to go in a direction I personally wanted.
Narrative is my passion and Bleached really helped to solidify that for me. I'm still constantly making new realizations whenever i dive back into it.
The fullbringers aren't boring, they're all interesting people with their own interesting backstories.
"Can't fear your own World" completely elevated the Fullbring arc for me. Also, it makes people who were villains in the series completely sympathetic.
It's at the top of my to- buy list!
@@RecoveringElitist **Spoilerish** It completely made me feel like the villains weren't villains and the heroes were maybe villains without knowing it. Sigh, Kaname.

I'm so glad i decided to rewatch it. I feel like i redoscovered my connection with this series.
Great job! I really enjoyed it! keep up the good work!
The literal Japanese made me laugh out loud! He basically just says something like, "that's just my sword". 💀

This is my peraonal favorite arc with some of my favorite character development for Ichigo. Also has the most underrated opening song.
Ending song hits an emotional place too 🥲
God i love this series 😭
I'm an anime only fan for 15+ years and I NEVER found the fullbringer arc bad
Honestly I enjoyed the heck out of the fullbringer arc the first time I watched it and was honestly probably one of my favorite arcs
Before revisiting it I'd already realized it wasn't nearly as bad as i remembered, and i STILL underestimated how good it was.
Ngl it broke my heart a bit seeing all the Bleach hate around that time. It was high praise until towards the end of the Hueco Mundo arc
i think im just a huge bleach fan but honestly from first read i loved this arc
As a young shonen fanboy i don't think I was ready for such layered and complex storytelling (despite the fact that I'd swear that I was at the time lmao 🙄).
Thank you for the vid homie. loved it
The moment when ichigo got his shinigami powers back was the first time an anime brought a tear to my eye.
I needed to see my boy get back in the game. They took too much from him 😭
Good video man. Thanks
I watched Bleach for the first time recently and this was by far my favorite arc. And yet at the same time I could already tell after 3 or so episodes that it would be a very controversial one in the community :D
lol expectations were in such a completely different direction we couldn't appreciate the peak in front of us.
All the Fullbring arc lacked was a commitment to what made it unique. 😤
The funny thing is, I think Ichigo would have allied with Ginjo against Soul Society if Ginjo had been upfront with Ichigo about his identity as a former substitute and the true nature of the combat pass. Especially if he told Ichigo everything right after saving his sister from that Hollow.
The amount of ways this could have gone down instead made me start to feel bad for the Xcution squad. It coulda really been vibes 😔
I'm excited to get more info on Ginjo and SS's history. Yall got me hyped to read up
You forgot to mention that Ichigo already had a hunch about the "badge" was a fake already. He noticed how useless it was at the job and realised that it wasn't legit besides the fact it allowed him to jump out of his body without using Kon.
Some things I left out on purpose in case anyone wants to revisit the arc themselves. I did include some subtitles where Ichigo talks about it though.
Just commenting to say this was good work. I like the vid!
I like how you reason that that Ichigo thought the surveillance feature of the pass made sense considering everything with him
well made video bro
This video was well written!
Thank you! I definitely agonized over it 😅
The only thing that doesn't quite satisfy me about this arc is that Ichigo gets no apology from his friends. Like sure BotE just vanished without a trace but damn.
Bro just wanted it to be over with lol 😭
I can't blame him, I'd wanna block all ts out too..
Oh that's a cool comparison!
Like the ability to make the "Form" in the Fullbringer's mind a reality. That's pretty sick.
Fullbringer arc was always great to me, some people just didnt have the reading comprehension to look past the lack of big explosion shonen battle moments
The whole Ginjo cut twice is genius writing
great video brother made at least me see this arc in better light
This is why i made this video 🙌🏿
Should've mentioned how everyone in SS was hopeful they could win against the Quincy when they heard Ichigo was coming
I forgot just how heavy everyone's sigh of relief was in that moment
Fullbring arc was probably my favorite arc, since I first read it when it came out.
excellent video!, didn't feel the time at all .
That's a massive compliment to me, thanks a lot! I cut out so much too. 🙃😂😂😂
Take note how Old Man Yama sent the people that would refuse to kill Ichigo.
Never even peeped this but you're right. Either by loyalty to Ichigo, themselves, or their duty, everyone in the SS crew are complete ride or die's
Say what you want, tsukushima was daddy!!
Suspenders with the open top button up went crazy i won't hold you.
The biggest issue with Bleach is that the filler always follows the same arc progression, so it feels the same even when it is good.
This is a really good way to put it
Subbed, good video.
I appreciate it homie 🙏🏿
The arch buffed Ichigo's determination to protect, thats why its good writing.
Arc conclusion is awesome.
Fullbring was always my favorite arc
Lets not forget that soul society would have known that through isshin, ichigo is of the noble shiba clan heritage, which might grant him different benefits too, benefit of the doubt after the soul society arc for example
I've wondered abt this a lot. The Shiba clan apparently had their nobility stripped but they still apparently carry a decent amount of clout to "bend rules" without serious punishment. I'm more interested than ever in an arc centered around the original Gotei 13
great video
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
As someone who read the manga relatively late, reading this part got me really interested in the lore and what it does for his growth. This honestly reminds me of the HxH Greed Island arc where it's right between York New City and Chimera Ant, two extremely popular arcs.
I never noticed that, but i see it now 😯
I only watched the anime’s version of Fullbring earlier this year, being mostly manga-only for Bleach for the longest time, since a lot of the anime’s direction and changes did not sit well with me.
I fondly remember discussing this with uncle Tsukushima, it's a great arc.
This one right here, officer Byakuya 👆🏿
I don't remember where i read this but at first when Urahara was secretly charging the sword with the lieutenant until Nemu spilled the beans to Mayuri who reported him not because it was illegal but out of spite.
Which then led to all the captains putting their spiritual pressure too.
I love that Mayuri snitching on Urahara ended up in him being directly ordered to help him complete the job 🙏🏿
