Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
I’m not surprised that the Melon likes country. He’s got a cowboy hat on his upper lip
Omfg 🙄
this comment noticeably improved my mood. cheers.
I know this was two years ago but this is a godlike comment lmfao
I guess it’s okay for me to like country now.
Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson and Colter Wall are excellent country artists
@@pallbearer1175 Don't forget Jason Isbel and The Highwomen
only Chris Stapleton
Cody Jinks, Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson are all generally considered to be pretty "recommendable" even to people that don't usually do county.
Jinks is sometimes called "outlaw country", though I am not sure what that actually means. He has the recognizable deep resonant voice stuff.
Stapleton is pretty classic country, just good.
Tyler Childers has a "grassier" thing going on. Lots of emotional force there. His track "Hard Times" got me -crying- _fucking sobbing_ . It's great.
Wall has that "plain-sy" vibe going on, his voice is probably what you'd recognize if you would recognize him at all. Real deep and...I dunno? Ashy? He's also 25, he's something else.
Sturgill Simpson? He's probably the most "fun". Want Psychedelic-Electronic-Elues-Rock with a big twist of Funky-Dance, Country, MadMax....and uh...Anime?
Well his 2019 album "SOUND & FURY" is the place to go. His earlier stuff was good too, just not quite as intensely eclectic as his most recent.
@@PaulMab9 I would say a lot of Eric Church's older stuff is pretty good too. Mr. Misunderstood is up there as one of my favorite country albums. It's definitely hit and miss nowadays with his newer stuff.
Don’t know about everyone else but I found “Yeethony Hawtano here, the internet’s rootinest tootinest cowboy” to be a little patronising towards Country
Not patronizing enough get their ass, melon
Was lowkey expecting him to say that
@Dominik Dalek I... uhh.. don’t know if this is serious
this man is absolutely incredible live and he’s easily one of the best country artists out there, and one of the only ones that aren’t black-muscle-shirt-wearing bros who only write about beer and their ford f150s
Listen to Russell Dickerson
@@jasonforpresident5678he sucks
**it is 2020, Anthony positively reviews a country album. People are now calling country 'overhated' and 'better than most modern rap'. This is the end**
@@whipthecamrylikeahellcat Yeah but that's kinda the thing with most genres. The mass produced shit is just.. well, shit.
@@whipthecamrylikeahellcat well good thing Chris Stapleton is not bro-country

This channel is going downhill. At this point, Fantano is just writing the name of the album on a wall.
Kaush
I feel like he wears the same three shirts now a days
What I don’t get is why he titled the video: Chris Stapleton - Starting Over ALBUM REVIEW but stood there talking about Pink Floyd’s The Wall for 9 minutes, that’s hardly a typo
@@youknowhuwitis hahaha
But it's the actual album cover?

That's cool Anthony but I really thought Vince Stapleton dropped something new and I missed it
Souf souf
this is AM. You need to switch to FM for Vince Stapleton
damn you just reminded me that its been 2 years since the last vince project. he used to drop something every year since 2014 and he was talking about 3 unreleased albums...
@dat boi sus god no u
@@cheekybananaboy3361 He got tired of getting 6's from melon so he's toning in on a classic
In a strange turn of events, Anthony murdered Chris for the flannel he wore in the Starting Over music video and only give the album an 8 so we wouldn’t question him
Was honestly not expecting you to enjoy it this much, but glad you did!
His appreciation for Chris Stapleton has been documented
@@whiskeywayne91 doesn’t mean nick weber knew that, hell I wasn’t expecting to see this review while browsing Melon’s recent uploads
I’m always glad when you review country. I’m not the biggest country fan but I see the talent and that’s always cool
it never occurred to me that anthony doesnt cover country music until now
It's because most of it isn't all that interesting or original (well today's music that is)
@@ozzyisthirsty8105 luckily Chris Stapleton has great taste when it comes to making country music especially for modern day country music

Anthony talking about Hillbilly Blood made me realize how little people actually understand the South/Appalachia lmao

day 2 of asking fantano to refer to himself as “walterny whitetano” for the moustache
Pizzathony Huttano here
Goddamn I’m really glad to have a few genuine & artful country artists gaining some recognition
When someone says they listen to everything except for country just show them this
Bruh there’s so much good country, you just need to look slightly farther away from the billboard country chart to find it
My go to introduction to country nay sayers is Tyler Childers’ Purgatory album
They’d still hate it tbh
I think the reason I usually say "I dont like country music" is because a lot of the times the lyrics are dumb, they sound the same, and I cant stand that god awful voice that sounds like a basketball buzzer mixed with a teen going through puberty. I think this album is pretty good because it has some pretty well produced and sonically interesting songs and even it sounds more on the rock and roll side for some songs.
I just want to quickly say thank you for making this review. I've never really gotten into country music before (aside from Yelawolf and a few folk-punk bands if they count), so checking this out will be a good opportunity for me to diversify my music taste a little bit.
Anthony, singing 'Sweet Home Alabama' for 9 minutes straight just because it's a country album doesn't count as a review.
Ok this got me. 🤣
Legit thought he was going to give it a 10
Always love to see some country reviews!
Maggie’s song has never failed to make me cry
I swear to you, this is gonna be the one country album that RYM users are gonna allow you to like
he sadly doesn't have much people reviewing his stuff, for some reason. even his debut album didn't get to 1k ratings in total and that album is so well known that it's still selling well. i think most rym users aren't really into country at all. you just don't see much traction there.
That’s weird before today I didn’t like country music
This review made me listen to a genre I had all but written off. I really loved this album. Thanks Melon.
Will there be a 10/10 this year? Will Kung Fu Kenny save the day? Or we will still force Fantano to give MBDTF a 10? Find out on the next episode of Dragonball Z
Oh yeah Redux Review of Mac Millers Swimming. Scores between Swimming and Circles is still way off
When you mentioned that one of the songs sounds a little progressive, what immediately came to mind is Jason Isbell's "Anxiety". Which, let's be honest, is basically a Pink Floyd song if Pink Floyd were from rural Georgia.
It does get me thinking how a Jason and Chris collab would sound though. And while I love both artists and it may seem like a good idea because those two are really at the front (along with Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price, Jade Jackson, and surprisingly Aaron Lewis of all people) of this new True Country (tm) revival, I'm not sure Jason's smooth and refined mid-range tone would blend well with Chris' just straight up BELTING. Both of them have some of the best voices in country today, and both are extremely soulful, but Jason is more of a pocket singer while Chris is more bluesy and rough hewn and his approach is much more "go big or go home".
I agreed with Anthony when he says this album is perfect for trippin on acid
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Any plans to review the new Nothing album? It's one of my favorites of the year and I'm curious of your thoughts
I knew he liked my boy Chris Stapleton! He's the reason why I love country music at least only his music lmao
I can’t believe he prints every album cover to put on his wall

Reviews basically two country albums in 2020: one is a 1 and one is a strong 8.
Wish we got more country reviews, or even track shout outs in the track round up, but still happy we got this.
I'm waiting for a modern blues review from artists such as Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa, Samantha Fish, Larkin Poe and Blues Saraceno.
Finally a great recent country record. O’ the things we had to sacrifice in 2020 for this
Such a great record. I see aspects of country in the record but honestly it is hard for me to label it as a country album since it is so bluesy - Jazzy more than your straight typical country record. Maybe more of a bluegrass-Rock than country.
Incredible vocal performances, his wife backing vocals are amazing, his song-writing, his guitar playing, and overall, he is probably a top 10-20 songwriters in the world right now.
He defintly is a country fusión artist he likes to switch it up
It's very Beth Hart's style. He's called a country artist and she is called a blues artist.
Jokes aside, the title track is one of my favorite songs of the year and I'm not usually that into Country. This album is great!
Fantano: This album's perfect...
Also Fantano: 8...
All: What???
I like it whenever you do a country review. Maybe sneak a Townes Van Zandt album into classics week ; )
i second this !!!
When you find some good country music the feeling of satisfaction is unmatched.
Anthony, you can't just say yeehaw for 9 minutes and call it a review
It was the yodeling that got to me.
I'd love you to cover some more of the good country artists out nowadays, Anthony. Simpson, Childers, Wall, Isbell, Jinks, etc.
This is the first time you’ve given one of my mom’s favorite albums above a seven
For a second I honestly thought the title red “Chris Stuckmann: I’m thinking of starting over”.
LOL! Did this guy seriously just review a COUNTRY album?!?! Like dude that’s so dope, I’m gonna drop the video a like and listen to it because I would love to get into the genre thanks for the recommendation Melon!
He has reviewed country albums before, it's probably not his strongest suit when it comes to the genre.
This is a wonderful album, I'm so glad you liked it!
Chris Stapleton had one fo the best voices in music rn.
This album is a literal gem in mainstream country.
Good. Finally a good country album review from you. This is a 4.51 out of 5 for me. Only next to 4.56 of Traveller and 4.76 of Golden Hour. Traveller is his best album.
Finally. An interesting album in these last few months. Chris Stapleton's work on this album provides today's country music an opportunity to ascend in popular music.
Melon referencing Guy Clark made my day.
You're right, Anthony. Vince Staples really changed up his sound on this one.
Good review, this is an excellent country album from start to finish. Would be a great album for non country listeners to check out. Another quality country album to check out is black cats and crows by ward davis
didn't even know chris stapleton released an album. one of the few country dudes i like left (+ sturgill, tyler childers).
Sturgill is the man
All three From Kentucky
Thank you for reviewing this. People are always like “ewww but that’s country music” and really it’s more than just country, it’s truly beyond that. It’s *good* music. Lol and when people don’t know who Dolly Parton is???? How do those people exist????
So glad you reviewed this

REVIEW THE AESOP ROCK ALBUM ANT
6.5/10. Too long and Ace's voice is kinda grating now
Good review but I’m not sure if saying “the south will rise again” was appropriate.
Yellow flannel with a big smile? It’s a good sign.
'i listen to all genres'- me, this I why melon is the goat, he knows when great is great. album of the year right here
Hey there! Can you review Hailey Whitters: The Dream? It’s easily my favorite country album of the year and wanted to get your thoughts!
Thanks for all the content, Anthony!
this is absolutely chris' best record yet
Ay yo Tony, where you at on that Pizza Hut pizza crust review?
If you love Starting Over, I believe you would love his first album, Traveller. Easily his best project and alots of country roots in that album. Very diverse in sound, great writing and a overall really asthetically pleasing country album.
Oh shit, I loved this album. Glad you did too!
I better see that Tyler Childers and colter wall review next time they drop 😤
Yessss Anthony! You nailed this one on the head.
You should interview Julian Casablancas from The Strokes pls !!
I always wondered if Anthony would ever cover a country album... (not aware of any past ones if he did.) I'll be checking this one out!
He's done a few before. I know he's been really positive about Sturgill Simpson in the past
He's done a few before.
Realtalk, Cold, a track on this record...hits for real. See y'all at the honky tonk.
Anthony I always wanted to know, if you wear a yellow flannel shirt for 8/10, do you also wear yellow flannel pants?
Is this the first time reviewing country?(Orville Peck is not country) !!!!!IM SO GLAD HE IS REVIEWING COUNTRY!!!!
FANTANO COMMENT LIKE YOU USED TO BACK IN YOUR OLD VIDEOS, ITS NICE
from the music video of the album's titular track, you can already see why melon gave it the yellow flannel
Stapleton is the only good country singer left, basically. I wish these stupid radio stations would play him instead of Bro-Country nonstop
Artists like Tyler Childers are pretty good aswell, even though they are few and far between.
Check out Charlie Crockett. I been digging his sound.
Cody Jinks is even better than Stapleton
I'm really getting into Brothers Osborne, I think "Bro-Country" is pretty oversaturated, but there's artists within that genre that pull it off, just overshadowed by, well, shadow artists imo.
Yeah Tyler Childers is good, colter wall also has some old school appalciAn country vibes
The dog song about Maggie had me in tears
Ooh! I might give a shot to country music this time
"Devil Always Made me think twice" is practically a Robert Cray song. Amazing.
Day 1 of asking Fantano to do Pink Floyd Worst to best or ranking tier list
The guitar solo on Cold is freeeeshh
Love Stapleton but haven’t listened to the record yet. I had a feeling you’d love it tho
I've always liked Chris
Glad that he could impresssed me again
Review Aesop Rock's new album ya know know know Cal is gonna love those wordy birdy flow!
If you're just know hearing about Chris Stapleton check out his older group The Steeldrivers. One of the best in modern bluegrass.
It’s so weird to see Chris on here because he’s from my middle of nowhere town in eastern kentucky and went to my high school and also played with my dad in a little band for a bit of time.
When I saw the yellow flannel and the tittle i was very confused
Oof I was worried that my opinion was wrong for a second there thank you melon 🥰
I love that this album lost last weeks new music Friday but ended up being the best 🤣🤣
when are the lps released i wanna give this to myself and my friend
That damn song about the dog got me in the feels in a serious way. I'm not sure how long I spent hugging my dog after I heard it.
I loved this record. So many highlights
I'm looking for a long music video on UA-cam I can't remember the name..it's linked to dementia I think I can't remember..can someone help me Out?
Arkansas is actually really nice if you stay in the mountains away from everyone or if you go to Little Rock.
Can't remember the last time Mr. Melon liked a country album this much
someone needs to strap me down and take away my electronics so that I can stop headbanging to Arkansas
Anthony you should check out Honey Harper if you haven’t heard him yet, I believe he’s a fantastic artist who deserves some more exposure.
I really felt that yellow shirt meant it was going to be a 10 lol
