- Show (most) shortcuts: Shift+?
- Play/Pause: K or Spacebar
- Skip forward 10 seconds: L
- Skip back 10 seconds: J
- Next video in a playlist or up next: Shift+N
- Previous video in a playlist: Shift+P (previous)
- Frame forward: . (period)
- Frame backward: , (comma)
- Increase blayback speed: Shift+. (Max 2X)
- Decrease playback speed: Shift+, (Slowest 0.25X
- Skip to point: 0-9 (Start of video, 0%, to 90%)
- Turn captions on/off: C
- Cycle through caption font brightness: O
- Cycle through caption background transparency: W
- Increase caption font size: _
- Decrease caption font size: -
- 360/VR pan controls (up, down, left, right): W, A, S, D
- 360/VR zoom controls (zoom in/out): +, -

I think I would be using T for Theater mode as I use that mode rather than full screen all the time.

What I *want* is for youtube to allow users to customize keyboard shortcuts to their own preferences. I use Up + Down to control volume all the time, but it oftentimes doesn't work unless I *click* on the video first - which defeats the object.

i once thought of making a video like this.i really like the way this video is made, i mean although i knew all the shortcuts before hand, i still like the way you guys executed it, this is the perfect video on youtube shortcuts yet! I have been able to grow from 1 sub per month to 10 subs per week by just taking the advices you guys have been giving me and this video shall help many people with their productivity! I hope i get to grow my channel even more and be successful like you guys!

I was actually looking for a skip commercial shortcut, dang it. But I will use the speed and slow, the , and . while paused, Shift N, and the 1-9 stages to view the videos in increments. Thanks for helping!
Slowing down a video is very useful if you're trying to learn a specific guitar lick or a riff, or another instrument that is normally played very fast, or to see some stuff in a sports that involve some trick or a move that is really fast. I could come up with some more usefulness for a slow motion, but i think that I made my point.
P.S. I knew almost all of this shortcuts, well I didn't knew for that info screen for sure, but I was in a search for a shortcut for skip add, if you know that, I would be infinitely grateful, but if not, thanks anyway.

Hi Rob! How do you take the cursor to the UA-cam's search bar so you can look for another video with a key or shortcut? Looks like in the past you could type either "H" or "/" but that does not seem to work anymore. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what cave I was living in, shite, I was a pretty advance with a DSL connection in 1998 but I only discovered UA-cam keyboard shortcuts today!
Thanks for covering what was needed in the first 5 seconds. It's a rare thing for a UA-camr to give the viewer what is needed without dragging it out to the end.
Volume up/down does not work when the focus is out of the video frame. Are there other shortcuts for the volume control? Maybe there is some chrome plugin for changing this?
I found that pressing } (right next to the enter key) lets you write in the search bar, which for me is the best of all shortcuts

Great list, I can add a couple for you. Shift+F5 = Forced Refresh (for loading issues) and Alt+LeftArrow = Previous Page (it works like expected where Shift+P (works maybe 10% for me)) I also loved the tip about changing the speed of the videos.

when youtube changed to use html5 player, some shortcut not always work. After adjust the volume by mouse, the left and right arrow key do not skip the vidoe.

Ah just so you guys know, long time arrow key user but you have to make sure what you have selected is the video itself or you'll just scroll up and down instead of adjusting volume. Just click on the video with the mouse to get them to work again.

Yes same here as of today i can no longer type comments and have spaces between my words. As space bar only works to pause or un-pause the video. Plus when i use certain keys it only does the short cuts. So how does one turn these off while using youtube???

for some reason on my macbook Pro (chrome, youtube) the simple "shift" + "," or "." to slow down or accelerate playback ratio doesn't work.
on the contrary, I managed to find the shortcut to accelerate video playback, "shift" + "") but I don't get how I can slow down the video! I've tried almost everything but no matter what I do that won't work. PLEASE HELPPPP IM SO CLUELESS

What I'm actually looking for is a list of shortcuts for the comments. Once in a while I do something and then when I type, the letters _replace_ the letters that come after the cursor instead of _scootching them ahead._ This is hugely frustrating and I don't know how to undo it except to shut down the whole browser and reboot.
You pressed the 'Insert' or 'Ins' key on your numberpad. Press it again to switch insert mode off.

Is there a similar chart for formatting? I had to search google to find out how to format italics, bold or strike-through.
