Back in my schools one of my buddies had an uncle in Cleveland, Ohio. He always had BB guns that had been confiscated from your hoodlums. These pump guns were considered to be the cream of the crop, and we're treasured when he brought one over.

I had a Daisy pump BB rifle in 1955. It was a hand me down from my older brother. He got a Crosman pump pellet rifle (22 cal) so naturally I got the BB rifle. Those were fun times!!!

Randy Here. You are right it is great to see you shoot my airguns. Straight Stock Variation 7
Long-Throw (circa 1927) seller put the tag with eariler date not me. The Baldwinville NY airgun show was great fun. Not a bad drive from our home in Suffern NY. Next big airgun show is in NC in Oct. Never been to that show anybody on here attended the NC show last year? Again your videos are great! Kindest Regards, Randy.

The red ryder may be Daisy's most popular gun, but the #25 was their most prolific. They made the #25 for the longest time, and over 20 million have been made!

Charles F. LeFever came to daisy in 1912. It was supposed to be for a few months while he ramped up production of the model 25. Ended up staying for 40 years!

    Well done yet again Nibs.
I have 2 model 25s 1 is old 6 ring the other is new production
There’s no comparison the old one is much better made and shoots stronger
When I was a kid, 40 plus years ago my neighbor had an old 25 that I would use went I went to his house to do chores and shoot many a sparrow and pigeon with it out of his hayloft
    Ahh the good ole days

The old ones do shoot harder. The leather seals seem to hold up better than the later rubber, and as far as I know the leather wasn’t staked in place (which deforms the rubber piston). The pre-Chinese guns also had a longer piston stroke by about 3/8”.

Useful information. Thank you. Picked up an Arkansas and Michigan plastic 25s at a local action this past spring. Banana stocks and broken trigger springs, both need work. Question for anyone watching: I need to replace a broken loading tube spring. Looks like I need to bend up the tab on the muzzle end, remove busted spring pieces and fish the new spring in the tube and bend the tab back. Am I imagining the replacement correctly? Is a snowy winter day project.

I think that is a 5 line long lever variant 4 with a square trigger guard 20's -30's. Engraving starts in 36. Tang strap and round trigger guard starts in 1930.

If those dates are correct it'd put it in the middle of the First World War so well over a hundred years old.About the time that the terrible Battle of the Somme was going on in France.

Great video. Does the shot tube in that gun have a retainer spring? If not I suspect it was made for lead .175 cal shot. I have 3 straight stock 5 groove guns. One that is a short through made for lead, one long through made for lead and one long through with a retainer spring on the shot tube made for steel.

Keep in mind that gun is designed to shoot lead, not steel. .180 not .174 any problem with double feeds, or loading the tube without them coming out? In my 1913/14 I keep a thumb on the hole(at the threaded end) while I fill, then have to insert it without hitting the sides of the barrel shroud. It's not easy.

Are there serated lines on back of butt? Smooth? The earliest guns were nickel plated, with a "black chrome" finish. The black never holds up, so most will not have much black left. Look for traces around the edges of the patch claw. The earliest guns don't have a line on the cocking lever, and a patch soldered under entire length of barrel.
