I wouldn’t say he was terrible, but Shaq was a shell of himself they signed him mainly due to compete against our size with Bynum and Gasol. As it turned out neither Boston or LA were good enough to get back to the Finals that year.

Shaq, on the other hand, was a prima donna then (and now,) never attempting defense, still dunk-posing and being cocky and trying to sell himself as if he were 10 years younger… in reality, Shaq came in incredibly fat and out of shape - closer to today’s Shaq than prime Shaq. He was catching a paycheck and everyone knew it but he was simply too arrogant to blend in with those lessoned abilities to be a great ROLE player. It really made me change my perspective on him… He wasn’t a worker, he was a prima donna with incredibles natural abilities butna child when those abilities faded… NOT very Boston like, in other words.
