7:56 To get rid of the ladder at the back of the captain's quarters: first place a top window onto the underlying module and then glitch the quarters on top. The window blocks the spawning of a ladder.
I just had an absolute blast building this, it took a while going to all of the different vendors to pick up the specialty parts, but it was well worth it. I switched out the grave drive with a J52 Gamma drive and just removed your extra store room above it. I also used an H40 atlas fuel tank for 550 fuel in the same spot. I wanted to beef up the engines to 4 Supernova 2200 but I got an error that I needed more landing gear. I found the perfect spot to add them. I removed the 2 lower Stroud mid bracers and replaced them with 2 Stroud accu-lander 11 landing gear. That gear has the same shape as the mid bracers and it's actually lighter mass. Thanks I really had a blast.
@@nickchivers9029 I also wanted put on 4 Sal 6830 engines, but it gave me the error that the ship was too long, it just goes over the limit by 1 meter.

This is one of the best designs I've seen and I'll keep that in mind when I finally decide to build ship with that cockpit. But I can see how it can be improved with better parts. Also clipping glitch is just a life saver, the system of building ships is great but sometime you can't squizze everything to look right. It would be great if you can make video of how layout looks inside because one of the reason I don't go with multiple floor designs are those freacking laders in random places that making me sick😅.
I thought about including an interior walkthrough but I didn't think that many people would watch this tbh so I just stuck to the build. I have some ideas on how I'd do an interior walkthrough but I also would need to do actual editing and commit to video editing software.
This ship is not really to my taste... However, it is brilliantly build, I like how you are willing to sacrifice mobility to make the ship look the way you want it to look. Also, I really liked to listen to your voice and how you talk. So I would be interested to see a voiced interior tour of your ship. Thanks for the video. Dirk
Tired of low and low space for cargo. Took your build and must say it is pretty good! Kicks butt in Serpentis and also the habs you picked for whatever your reasons…. Very nice love it. Was thinking I would hit one vendor for those large habs but again the design and color of the habs it’s beautiful GREAT JOB MAN! I made couple small changes. I added 2 wing ports on the back and put 2 auto turrets facing backwards so any tailgaters would get theirs. lol Thanks for a great build!!! Ohhh one note!! Do a build list. I liked the build so gave it a shot but had to break out Excel to jot down all pieces and then bounce around to get those big habs pretty much. Keep up the good work!
Amazing! So glad it was helpful and I love that you made it your own. I like the idea of the build list, I'll have to think about how to do that in my own way.
If you want to get rid of the ladder problem in the captain's quarters, delete the captain's quarters and make sure you have the ability to save and exit your ship builder. Once you've exited your shipbuilder, go back into it and then add the captain's quarters.
Great build, lots of hab space, but the layout isn't confusing at all. I upgraded the engines and put six of them on for mobilities sake and this thing is a beast in battle. had to tweak the rear end a bit to fit the engines but it still looks awesome, thanks for the video really appreciate it.
Thank you! Feel free to check out my Reddit profile until I can get back to my computer to share some other ideas. I'm out of town for a bit, unfortunately.
I really like the shape of the ship. Built it, quite nice. My only complaint is that the rather short jump range can be rather annoying. I went with a better grav drive than this (still 1x1) and some places are a pain to get to. Ladder lay out can also be a bit confusing on first visit though that sorta solves itself over time as one memorizes the layout. Slight warning for the build, some of the end game reactors lack a bottom attachment point for the angle plate you use to cover the reactor. I wonder if there'd be a way to modify the arrangement to fit in a 1x2 grav drive to solve the range issue Edit: Found a solution, swap the 3x3 cargo hall for a deimos 2x3 cargo hall. Replace the two 1/2X1 tanks for a 1x1 he3 tank (ideally one with more capacity than the two tank combined.) then swap the position of the grav drive and the fuel tank. This will free enough space for a two story grav drive who'll occupy where the old fuel tanks were, and the 3x3 cargo. fill the leftover space with filler blocks (If you put a 2x1 hab in the free space, the game will spawn a ladder from the mess hall pantry, rather than put a door between the cargo hall and the new hab. It's weird. You will see a bit of the grav drive poke out on one side as it's obviously not the same design as a hab and they cant be painted. You could hide it a bit more by moving the rear lower cowling of each outrigger 1 block back, and putting a stroud or deimos filler block between both ourigger underside cowlings.
Excellent point about the reactor attachment points and the Deimos belly. This is something I didn't consider that I'll try to do in the future. More than happy that you've adjusted parts to suit your needs! Most of this build was done with parts I had available to me around level 20 so I didn't have access to some of the better drives. You'll notice the reactor is nicer as I upgraded that piece after I had posted the original build to Reddit and before I had made this video.
I found out about the clipping early on, and I also found out that you don't need shipbuilding perks at all, just the creds to buy the parts. Make sure to select a part that's clipping in red but you can purchase, then just press down towards the parts that are blocked and place that bad boy wherever you want. Presto, now all the parts are unlocked, don't show this to todd, I have other perks I'd rather invest in.
It's a great looking build, I can't do the repeated use of the same piece and I would be a little uneasy about all the pieces that are clipping since it can corrupt your game file.
This is an amazing build, I hope you’re planning on making a few more to share! Gonna have to get my c class license and get building, do you have an order of where you go to build it? I’m confused as to how one is supposed to ‘ok’ a build that’s not complete in order to travel to the place with the parts you need. I’m hoping it’s not slapping a bunch of bits on to make it at least get off the ground?
Thank you! I don't have an order of where to go to build it but I can try to make one. What I meant by using an incomplete build that's 'ok' to travel is purely relative to the flight checks in the ship builder. As long as you have enough landing gear and jump drive per mass and whatnot according to the ship builder you can build part of your ship or slap on more of whatever landing gear you have access to. I recommend flying around with another completed ship and then slapping on the parts as you can buy them. I usually go to New Homestead and buy as many landing gear as I need first, and would probably get the cockpit there first too. Then just slap on some basic habs so you can get from the landing bay to the cockpit and the docker and whatnot. It doesn't matter what the ship looks like during this part shopping phase.
@@Sulcrux awesome thanks for the info, I’ll get round to it eventually, I just keep finding other stuff to do ingame and end up 6 hours in without touching the parts of the game I meant to when I turned on!
If it's not for you, it's not for you. I will say that mobility is overrated and that is especially true for turret loadouts. I'd recommend playing around with the strafing while you're turning your ship ;)
wow 44 mobility, that's a big drop from what I'm playing right now, which has 90+ mobility. But it would be interesting to get a sense of how big a ship feels like to play.
I've found it to be perfectly serviceable with low mobility because of the turrets. I'd also recommend using the 'strafe' mechanic in dogfights to increase your mobility.
While I like this design, this again reminds me of how idiotic it is (from the game) to not allow turret / weapon placement on its bottom side. All I can say about the people who made this system is a quote from Wrath of Khan. "He is intelligent, but not experienced. His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking." - Spock.
I can't get the weapons to glitch on the inside of the Nova Weapon Mount, is it patched? When I place weapons on the outside, the inside attachment points disappear.
It's not patched but I have noticed that it doesn't work for every weapon. Apologies for making such a sweeping statement, I did that section all in one take.
You can register ships in your inventory screen if you go to your ship management window. You can also go to any of the ship technicians, who are standing near every landing pad in NPC landing zones, but it's more expensive to register your ship with a technician. Any of these technicians will sell ship parts, but the ship technicians at specific places sell more. You can also build a ship landing pad (the large one) at your settlements. This one has a great part list and almost all of the structural parts you'll need.
Should probably post a disclaimer that you're using glitches. Lots of people don't want to glitch their ship to make it all fit together and also have stuff rendering through the walls of the ship at parts. And not knowing that's a key component to your build until halfway or more through the video isn't very cash money.
This is a great idea!I had made this video as a response to a Reddit post where I did make that disclaimer and honestly hadn't thought about people finding this video elsewhere.
